Me myself average 8-10 wins most of the time (depending on the class, too) - a lot of 12 wins are in my history. (While playing rogue its 1/3 runs)
But I have to say, that FTP is the wrong investment of resources, if you are adult. Spending some money will give you such a boost, that this is the better way resourcing. To be honest, I can't understand people who are proud of being an FTP only... Especially the pro-order makes sense.
As soon as you start spending money on the game you devalue your sense of progress. Collecting cards is fun, sure I could drop 300 on the game right now, craft everything I am missing. I would get zero satisfaction from this and ruin my future sense of satisfaction from new cards and packs. As a gamer I resent micro-transactions in general, especially the fast-track variety. I wish we could get back to full price game expansions, not piece-meal cosmetic crap. Whats the point? If your RL commitments are too much and you don't have the time, well, you don't have the time. IMO find a new hobby, or turn to games that aren't designed to be such huge time-sinks.
I am most certainly not talking about F2P. I usually do get the preorders. As for Arena, I want to get a full complete collection (not golden lol) eventually. I want to do Arena to help me get there faster. I will play some constructed here and there still. From my calculations, Arena will give me a lot for my collection over time.
I agree with everyone else. If your goal is to get cards, spend your time working and spend that money to get cards. If you want to play Arena all day for a month, then do so and you'll definitely have a butt load of cards at the end.
I don't understand your desire to "gauge how well you're doing." Keep playing Arena, and if you never have to pay real money, then you're infinite. If you win more, then you'll make more gold, and be "doing better." It's not like there's one amount of profit an infinite arena player can make.
You can build competitive decks off of infinite arena rewards, but I don't see you really finishing out a collection. The rate of legendary acquisition is just abysmal, and I probably craft more than I recieve. Even great runs typically only offer one pack, and most of the rest of the time is spent earning back the gold you spent on entry, plus a handful of dust. ("True" infinite is 7+ average, the very best players are near 8. Most "infinite" players therefore are only accumulating gold via quests.) Play arena if you like it, save your time and buy more packs if you don't.

It can be done, it just takes a lot of arenas to get there (like 2-3/day). I started playing arena in GVG, fell in love with the mode and played a ton for almost 2 years. I've been a soft infinite (less than 7 w/r ave but still averaging over 150 gold/run) or infinite player most of that time. Just before Ungoro was released I had enough cards, gold, and dust that if I'd DE'd all of my golden cards, I could have crafted a complete set including Classic, GVG, TGT, WOG, and MSG. I've spent about $20 ever into the game (purchasing a few arenas when I was still learning how to play) and have purchased all of the adventures using gold from arena. I have over 8800 arena wins and currently 26650 gold. Most people won't enjoy playing as much as I did, but it is possible. I've slowed down substantially in Ungoro and do not have the cards/dust to complete that set. I will admit it's going to be a lot harder to keep up with 3 full expansions every year.
I've just about hit infinite, or at least it feels like it - I'm probably being helped out by quests in all likelihood. It takes a hell of a long time though to grind out a deck from it... worth doing if you love it sure, but if profit is the only reason you'd be better off mowing lawns for a couple of hours or something and just straight up buying packs.
Also lmao at people suggesting they're averaging 9 or more wins then only the top few players on the planet manage to breach that.

Nobody averages even 8 wins over a long enough sample size. Highrolling a good 30 runs allows great players to show up on the leader boards with averages over 8 or even over 9 wins for that month but bad runs will balance things out in the long run. Remember the blog Blizzard released back in 2016? Check it out to refresh your memory...
This shows the cumulative best three arena averages during the first 8 months of 2016. The top average was 7.619 with 184 runs. With a large enough sample size, I'm confident that no one ever averages over 8.
Here r my stats from last month, albeit Frost Festival helped a bit, its only 23 arena runs, but u can get a picture of how much u could gain. Dust total (avg) is just dust from rewards + if u dost everything from packs (avg dust per pack is 40). Didnt account for a pity timer on epics and dusting the card rewards so in the end it would probably be a couple hundred more. So about 20 decent arena runs might give u enough dust for 1 legendary probably.
I average around 7-7.65 in a month. In June I averaged 7.13 and was 39th on the top 150 for the month. I don't track dust but In about 77 runs I went from 3900 gold to 5800 and I'm now I'm 26,000 dust away from being able to make every card in standard with 2x copies. Before kft hits that is. So ftp is possible

I started practicing Arena in June 2017 and I have gotten much better. Here are my best runs so far:
8 Wins 2-3 times
9 Wins 2 times
10 Wins once
I can't go infinite yet, but I will get there if I keep practicing.
But I was wondering how much profit you get from Infinite Arena over the course of a month. That way I can gauge how well I am doing.
Any Infinite Arena players, if you can give me an estimate, that would be great.
I made some calculations based on these assumptions:
Each Arena run takes 1-2 hours
4-5 Arena runs per day which would yield ~300 dust from packs and arcane dust per day
That would mean enough dust to craft a legendary every ~5 days so 6 legendaries in a month.
4-5 Arena runs per day would be 120-150 packs per month for 6-8 legendaries according to average legendary rate.
In a month, that would total to 12-14 legendaries of value.
If this is a good estimate, then I would be able to work on my collection really quickly.
So Infinite Arena players, please give me an estimate for a whole month.
