Finished the month with a 7.1 average! As you can see I didn't play Priest, Druid, Shaman, or Warrior. They're what I consider the bottom classes. Not going to explain this since I think it's been pretty much agreed upon by many veteran players. Priest and Shaman can have some really high value control decks if they draw/draft the right decks but it feels powerless on average when pitted against Rogue/Mage/Paladin/Hunter.
Wow, really nice! Hopefully it will be enough for the US April top 100. I played 32 runs last month with a 5.72 average. New record for me so pretty happy. Because I probably won't have enough time to play 30 runs in a month for the rest of the year (not that I would make the list if I would have enough time : p) I started my own challenge. I keep track of the average of my last 100 runs in Excel and try to get this higher, it's at 5.48 now, next milestone would be 6.0. The sheet also shows which score will fall out of the list when I complete another run (the current run 1/100, 99 runs ago), which motivates a lot on the short term. Next one is 3 wins and I'm going to draft a Paladin next so bumping up the average should be pretty easy, going for the 8th 'grow or stay the same' in a row. With a total of 155 runs since I started playing arena I have the following 55 averages:
I removed April from the thread title. Since we're mostly talking with the same people here I didn't really see much use in making a new thread specifically for May.
Tracking 100+ runs is super good. If I wasn't so lazy I would start tracking everything again. My problem is I generally play on the iPad so I have to track everything manually. Looks like you are making pretty solid progress.
10 Runs with a 9.2 average says nothing, you could totally be on an upswing (just wildly guessing 9.2 isn't your true average). What's your average over the last 100 runs?
Yeah probably on an upswing. I think what it was was that I was getting alot of mage during that time (I have 8.77 avg wins with mage) but as of now I've only got 40 runs recorded. I've been recording all of my arena runs since February. I have average 6.63 wins out of the 40 recorded runs i have. I doubt i've even played 100 runs of arena. I have 547 arena wins total, and If i Divide that by 6 that's only 91 runs.

I don't think Priest is bottom tier. But maybe that's just my playstyle? Mage is my best class followed by Priest and then Warrior, But i've only got 1 warrior run so who knows how good it really is. But I have a ton of games with Priest. With Talonpriest Amber Mind Control, Dragonfire Potion, its pretty Freaking Broken honestly.
Ok, last month was my first month of serious arena:
19 arenas, 4.21 average.
I started out ok in May, 5,33 for now. Also, had my first 11 win run with Rogue. Sick draft, 4 Vicious Fledglings and 3 Saps. I missed 12 wins one step from lethal by getting Pyroblast in my face.
Unless you have stats I'm well aware of the high variance you can draft in Priest decks to make broken decks.
Meh, I don't have like a significant number of statistics, I've only done 7 recorded priest runs. But my runs have been extremely consistent, averaging 6.86 Wins per run, and the mean win is 7. Stats here. http://www.heartharena.com/profile/kaioxys
I'm thinking the reason is that priest hero power is so valuable. You win the zoo ggame because of it, and it's hard to burst you down because of it. Winnin as Priest for me is ALL about winning the resource war. Going second is better as priest when you realize this, because you want your opponent to run out of cards first. You want your answer to cripple and outvalue them. Which is another reason your hero power is so good. Your minions can't be whittled down because you can just heal them, so you don't need to constantly put out more minions, you just heal the ones you already have.
That could easily be it. In arena you have to use whatever you are good at. I'm good at control, midrange, and fatigue, and not so good at tempo or aggro. This is why rogue is actually a bad class for me. I'm not good enough at playing like that.
But for you, you may be amazing at different classes. So just use whatever you are good at.
I'm on the EU leaderboard this month as well, which just got published (finally) by Blizzard, rank 43. I've played 30 runs on NA this month and got an average of 7.1 there, that's probably not enough to get into the top 100 in May unfortunately.
It's tough to tell if members here make the lists with U/Ns that don't match. :D
That's March's list, April can be found here. Matches with the username somewhat better. I wonder if we should get you some sort of site reward for this achievement...

That'd be nice, although there's probably only a few of us that'd ever get this lol
I recently started working in May so I definitely couldn't do as many runs as I did before, but this month has been the highest average for me ever since I started played Hearthstone, with an average of 6.9 over 61 runs. My highest 30 this month is at a 7.23, so I'll probably make the leaderboard again. Not really sure if I'd have time to do it in June, but we'll see.
The problem with a high variance meta is it really limits people who can't do as many runs so if you got unlucky and had to lowroll with some decks it's pretty unfortunate. My first 30 had an average of 7.0, mostly because I happen to priest on my 30th run and got a 1 win out of that one, it was a pretty shitty low roll. I also only played Mage like once in that first 30. My next 30, ironically, still included that 1 priest run, it just so happens the next 25 runs were consistently better, with more Mage picks.
Because the class unbalance is significant, it's actually relatively easy for an experienced player tryharding. Most mages and paladins are too slow, so playing a tempo deck usually performs better for me. I've seen countless bad plays where the player choose to discover something or draw stuff early on when I'm already leading on board. Playing a stonehill into a 4/3 might as well be shooting yourself in the foot, especially if you don't have a Phoenix follow up or something. There's always that crazy Paladin/Mage deck with multiple meteors/steeds/etc but on average people are playing badly. And on low wins you tend to see some of the weaker classes which are free wins for the most part.
I don't think I'll have another month where I'm close to averaging 7 wins across all my runs, but this month has been kind. Although, ironically, playing less means I don't get fatigued playing the top 3 classes as much, so it's a good thing I guess. And since you will typically has to pick the lesser classes at times, that can also be an interesting change of pace.

I finished with 6.8 wins this month, a bit above my historic average (6.58). Of course I won't cut into the list with only 17 Arena runs... I wish Blizzard could lower the needed number of runs, I work and study, so reaching 30 isn't possible for me. 20 would be reachable by much more players, and it's still a reasonable number to avoid variance.
Anyway, a good month for me. The surprise was Hunter, with a 8.2 average (12-1,11-3 and 2x 5-3) including my first 12 win ever with the class (I'm saying surprise because it has always been a class I tend to avoid picking). Now I'm only missing Priest to complete the 12 win fest with every hero. My most picked was of course Rogue (my best class and the one I enjoy the most playing with), with 7 runs and a 7.7 win average.

after 30 runs my average was 7.07 (EU). probably it wont be enough tho. I doubt that I will take it seriously in this month, its just too much time.
my best was paladin, 10.5 wins out of 6 runs. :) but I had 12 win runs with mage and druid too, so those helped a lot.
didnt try warlock or warrior at all.

Just not into the whole reactive play style for myself, I guess.

Hi all. I recently started playing arena alot. Is average 5,04 wins out of 48 runs good? :)
And if i may ask, what are rewards for top100? :)
thanks for answer :)
Is the plan to just maintain one thread for this now? Been away for a few months, hopping back on the challenge today.
