Does anyone else feel like Hunter is just the best class in Arena right now? I just finished an 11 wins Warlock and a 9 wins Shaman. 2 of my loses as Warlock were to Hunter, and all 3 of my Shaman loses were to Hunter. Their card quality is off the charts, they have insane beast synergy, and they can SMOrc like nothing I've ever seen before in Arena.
But when I draft Hunter, I get nothing. My best run with Hunter since the patch is 7 wins. Is Hunter consistently good and I'm getting unlucky, or is it inconsistently the best thing ever?
Hunter is my highest winrate in post-patch. Buff mechanic is strong, Kodo is strong, has great card draw with the right stuff and puts on pressure well. Always thought of Hunter as low tier in arena but the patch along with Gadgetzan have raised it right up.
I played a secret hunter with a lot of beast synergy Its okay but it can be better. Heres hoping Un'Goro makes Hunters more viable. This was in arena and I got 5 wins
Hunter needs to be ahead in order to win it has an extraordinarily hard time coming back on the board. That said it has one of the best tool sets for stealing wins when behind, so I usually try to draft accordingly. The issue is if you don't go first you will very likely lose board control unless your minions are completely insane. Hunter removal is very bad. It's 1 to 1 for the most part with few exceptions (Powershot) or its situational and easy to play around. (Explosive Trap, Explosive Shot so it's difficult to draft for board control.
The best strategy I think you can have with hunter in arena is the same as hunter in constructed. Assume you will be winning. Assume you will go first. Draft "win-more" cards like buffs and taunts. Playing from behind is still shit and it will always be that way. Draft to win play to win, hunter seems ok. Epics aren't incredible but getting Gladiator's and Call of the Wild feelsprettygoodman
People tend not to play around hunter board clear stuffs which ends up making them better. People assume smorc and can't really deal with hunter when they prove they aren't just mindlessly going face. Definitely not the best, but is up there.
Hunter seems to be a class that is totally befuddling people right now. I have heard good arena players saying it is top 3 and others saying it is bottom 3. In my (limited) experience so far, I would say it seems to be one of the easiest classes to get to 5-6 wins, but it struggles once it starts to meet the better decks that can deal with its initial rush/snowball.
Hunter is very much dependent on the opponent they're facing. If the opponent has no answers the Hunter will easily just win with early game aggression. Playing hunter also has a bit more options since you're usually looking ahead and calculating lethal pretty early so the choice of hero power vs. developing a minion is incredibly relevant. I just got 2 1-win runs this meta though, getting asspulled by my opponent's RNG topdecks, which is generally not a fun part of Arena imo. So I'd probably still put Mage/Rogue/Priest where they are at the top, and Shaman above Hunter on my tier list.

Yea no paladin is low tier. If you draft a lot of paladin cards you'll do well but if not you'll lose to everything. Mage and warlock are probably 1 and 2 without looking at numbers, even after the nerfs.
Hunter really feels probably joint second best below Rogue. I'm currently on an 8 win arena (8-1 right now) with Hunter and honestly on the face of it the deck just isn't anything special. Just playing aggressively and putting on too much pressure for opponents to handle.
In this month hunter works pretty well for me (9.4 avg. wins in 9 runs so far) I always pick him when I can. I didn't expect hunter will be that good after standard change when he lose the best card glaivezooka but now when rare and epics are more often chosen and also it's easier to make great synergies on beasts, hunter more gained than lost.
I find that I do better with the classes I like to play in constructed (although, this was before the arena changes; since, I haven't once made more than 3 wins, and have basically stopped playing). I managed 9 wins with Hunter once prior to changes. On the other hand, Warlock seems very strong, yet I've never managed more than 3 wins with Warlock in ANY meta. It's not a class I play regularly or particularly enjoy. Hunter, on the other hand, is one of my favorites.
Hunter is currently a high skill deck (weird as it is to say that)
High skill generally means its good enough to beat tier1 decks but it generally requires making the most optimal moves every turn and planning turns in advance. It's not throw everything face like pirate warrior, I'd say its close to reno deck level of skill requirement. At least my version of it is which should be front page right now. Optimal trades, using the deathrattles properly with tundra rhino (or in my case starving buzzard as well) and knowing when to use a secret to get the most use out of it (like druid going into turn 5 so you play a snipe the turn before to get their azure drake)

Looks like someone didn't realize that we're talking about arena.

I mean, the thread title is deceptive to whether or not its talking about hunter in standard vs arena. Obviously i'd have to really look to see it was posted in the arena section and actually read others comments. I offered my opinion on if hunter was good and what that meant to me. but many of my things still stand true. Hunter in arena is also high skill since it requires the knowledge of all of their cards and proper way to engage board and still get in hero power taps. IMO you draft any call of the wilds you will probably succeed with hunter in arena.

hunter is as good as the person who plays it i feel like
Any class is good if your draft is good and you play better than the opponent.

Forgive me, friend. I have failed.
Hunter is bad. It loses handily to rogue in most games and rogue used to be one of hunter's best matchups.
