The patch for WotoG has just gone live and part of the notes say: The guaranteed pack from Arena will now always be from the most recently released expansion.
Was this ever announced beforehand? I kinda liked the fact that the pack from Arenas was random.
It also says: Additionally, you are slightly more likely to receive a second card pack from a different standard set. So that sounds like arena rewards have been tweaked slightly also to make additional packs a little more often.
I think the second pack thing just means that if you were going to get a second pack, then that second pack is more likely to be from another standard set. It doesn't mean that the chances of getting a second pack in general are higher.
Pretty sure they added the 2nd pack reward as a small chance from any reward bag. Maybe with some minimum number of wins required, or quite possibly with no minimum win count at all and just random.
At any rate the guaranteed pack from last set is a very nice change. Beats getting more classic packs that I don't really care much for.
Hmm... math. That is about 33 initial arena runs with about a 70g return for each 4 win arena to 15 more arenas. Then 7 more then 3 then 1... Grand total of about 59 packs if you go strictly 4-3 you will have 9 more packs than not going to arena. But... that's also a lot of time to dedicate into arena. Maybe 50/50 split?

also get a bunch of dust and some random cards here and there. But at the end it does really depend on whether he actually likes playing arena or not.
First, guaranteed pack will allways be from WoTOG (for now, until next expansion, becouse it says the latest expansion)? And they have increese (or if you want, lowered requared wins) chance for 2nd pack, which will be random (Classic, TGT or WoTOG)?
Hopefully they'll clarify the second part, I think at the moment you can only get a second pack at 12 wins. Whether the change reduces that threshold or not, it's not clear.
I preferred it before, I don't have a complete collection so I liked getting a random pack. BUT, if the poster above is being truthful about getting a second pack @ just 6 wins, then I guess that change to rewards more than makes up for it...
This is probably temporary. Once WOG is firmly established in the meta, they'll probably change it back. Didn't they do the same thing when gvg came out? Not the better chance of an extra pack, but didn't arena always give a gvg pack reward? I wasn't playing then, but I thought I read that somewhere.

Old school WoW Mage motto: if you don't end the run with the most damage dealt AND the most deaths, you're not trying hard enough.
Yes, arena only awarded gvg packs as the guaranteed pack reward during gvg, but it was like that from start to finish of the expansion. The patch notes make out sound like this is the new normal.

I actually love that, I don't need to buy WoG packs from shop now! Arenas would give them much cheaper.
And a second pack, just wow!

Just, let me see if I understand this.

Does 7+ wins still reward 150+ gold ? If not, riot.
I'll test it tonight, just wanna know if someone already has experienced the disappointment.
Like that shop ticket idea, upvoted
