After a couple of quick concedes and a 5 minute web browsing (had to do it because my gaming time is very limited), I realised how it works. There's nothing in the game itself (apart from two or three lines that only confuse you) to help you understand what's going on if you don't have a clue - you need other resources, so thumbs down from me there. I enjoyed it a lot though. Warlock seems like the obvious choice and can be very powerful if you don't encounter ME-GO-FACE hunters that didn't get the memo (and apparently don't care to read it anyway).
The card back is beautiful, but to be honest I would prefer the extra pack. Souvenirs are nice, especially this one, but I don't really have a card back fetish. I also understand that this hurts new players in particular.
Somehow blizzard thought that players would appreciate the cardback more than a classic pack.
Or they deliberately reduce the value of the gift.
Either way, blizzard don't understand players, at all.
It's December so if people would be a bit more appreciating that they are playing a free game and Blizzard is not obliged to give anything for free, would be nice.
Outside of obtaining Magni Bronzebeard and co, everything can be obtained without spending any money (outside of some promotional stuff.)
Nobody is talking about spending money or not spending money. Don't try to make the issue more complicated.
The issue is simple, Tavern Brawl used to give free pack, now this one doesn't. Just like if Blizzard change the frequency of daily quests to weekly quests, but with the same reward.
Of course Blizzard is not onliged to give us anything for free. Heck, they aren't even obliged to create this game. But what does their obligation has to do with anything?
We are where we are now. Blizzard created the game, they tried to make players happy by giving free packs from tavern brawl, it worked for me as i was happy, and now they take it away. So now i am.....?? That's right, not happy.
Simple as that. And before you tell me Blizzard doesn't care whether i am happy or not, let me assure u that they do care, if they have any sense of how player satisfaction affects the success of their game.
"Retarded" is a word I would never use, even for a person with mental disability. Other than that, it's a great class for this brawl, and weirdly enough I didn't encounter not even one. I predict however that from tomorrow morning there will be a Warlock parade until the brawl ends.
They have been giving packs for 6 months, much longer than simply the first several brawls.
I'm happy with the new card back. More valuable to me than 40 dust. It's something different, and I'm glad I have something to celebrate Christmas with in-game.

Of course you're allowed to voice your opinion but I meant general. Some people take it way too far once their free "drug" source dries up.
It's good business strategy to give out freebies at time to time, of course.
I find that this tavern brawl is just really fun. The cardback is nice too. I don't really mind about the pack, but it would have been nice if they had included it as a reward as well.
Yeah. It's Christmas but I guess giving us both a pack and a card back is way too much for Blizzard
That's my argument. So many righteous people on here saying that people complain we don't get enough free stuff. Or we aren't thankful that we got a card back. Your head is so far up Blizzard's ass all I can see is your feet dangling.
It's 1 free card pack. It's not like they hand them out like candy. We get 1 a week...and they took it away and opted for a card back that looks like a 4 year old designed it.

I am not sure that locks are particularly amazed by the fact, them having to deal with all sorts of malganis'es on t4 onwards.
That's why you make sure you include minion destroying cards (2x) like Big Game Hunter, Siphon Soul and Sacrificial Pact for the particularly dangerous demons that your opponent will play. For example a rogue decided to go into Jaraxxus mode - a mistake since the board was his and I couldn't handle it - and that was an instant win... X-D
Do not worry boys at some point of time in the future there will be so many cards that it will be impossible for the new comers to start. At that point blizzard will be forced to introduce some feature addressing the problem. And yeah nice gift i prefer card pack instead of card back, sorry but i don't really see the value in a cardback.
And this makes me sad. Knowing that I invested $200 dollars into this game so far.
So according to blizzard cardback>cardpack ? Because b comes before p ?what is next buy a cardback with 200 gold? If there is a pokemon call cardpacker it evolves into cardbacker?
I've gotten golden legendaries from those tavern brawl packs, so I will miss them.
Blizzard used to give out wings for free and free packs/arena runs for expansions. The only reason they don't anymore is because they've lose respect for their players. It has been two years and we still have 9 deck slots! They see all of us as walking wallets. This isn't something we should be proud of.
The Hearthstone team said the free pack was just for Tavern Brawl's "launch event" initially, which was an unspecified period of time. Frankly I'm surprised packs are still being awarded at all after so many weeks :P
This thread should win an award for its epic levels of overreaction and hyperbole and believe me around here that's saying something.
- No pack this week doesn't mean 'no pack any more ever'. There is a small chance it might, but that's a pretty big leap of logic.
- 16th December does not equal 'the whole of Christmas'. Something that Blizzard does for one week in mid-December does not mean squat about what they intend to do for Christmas for players. Next week's tavern brawl is the Christmas one if anything.
- This isn't 'a big setback for new players'. Even assuming that classic packs is what they want most and they spend all their gold on classic packs, and they don't want card backs at all, this puts them back about 1.5 days.

When Blizzard 1st announced the brawls:
"Tavern Brawls will have free admission when the new mode becomes available. As part of the launch celebration, you'll earn a free card pack when you win your first game of the week in the first several brawls!"

The only cancer in Hearthstone is its community.
:< Honestly? Its A CARD PACK, you can grind 1-2 of those in a DAY, however a card back? 1 month. HONESTLY GET YOUR PRIORITIES RIGHT.
