There may have been some trolling going on, in designing a brawl which favoured aggro decks with lots of cheap minions, given how much people whine about that archetype.
But I found it mad fun with a Flamewaker/Mana Wyrm abuse mage deck, won first game and enjoyed it enough to play some more (winning most of them). And that's all I ask from a Tavern Brawl.
I made handlock with clockwork giants. 5-1 lol. As it turns out, everyone only plays a deck that relies on buffing something with bananas and then going face, so a deck that does nothing but board clear, heal and make 8/8s is pretty good. No one is playing any big removal, or even aoe. It's all just turbo face and weenie hordes.
Wild Pyromancer is probably the single best minion you can play in any deck right now. It usually just clears the opposing board for free and lives just by eating bananas. Clockwork giant, also great, eventually will be a 2 mana 8/8 as inevitably board-clearing will cause the opponent to be overloaded with bananas and nothing to play them on.
Patron warrior really funny. I put double brawl in there and double wild pyro. Easy to wipe the enemy's board and then stabilize while they have a nice hand of bananas. Then late game you just make a bunch of big patrons that constantly get buffed by bananas and make more bananas themselves.
Wild pyro is just nuts here, making more patrons, drawing cards with acolytes and giving armor with armorsmith. Seriously, everyone's deck right now is "imma play a bunch of eggs and then buff them!!!"
Brawl takes care of all that nonsense. They just all-in with some giant board of violet students or whatever crap, using all their bananas and 2-3 actual cards. Then you brawl, basically resetting their last 2-3 turns.
Still though, flamewaker is way too powerful with bananas. Oh well.
I'm really enjoying the Banana Brawl so far! I made my own Mage deck that's a little bit different from the current build that most people seem to be running, and I've only lost one game with it so far. Putting it below if you guys want to have a look. I do have one Violet Teacher in there, but primarily my deck revolves around having a lot of minions die so that the ones that can REALLY benefit from the Bananas get to shine. I incorporated Duplicate and it works extremely well with almost every minion in the deck, because almost all of them can get good value out of Bananas. I will admit it's not the most amazing and obviously not super original, but I do think it has a bit of a twist compared to the Mage deck most people seem to be running in this Brawl, and I've actually done reasonably well against that Mage deck myself with this one.
As for the Brawl itself, I really do like it quite a lot. It's clear at this point that Tavern Brawl is kind of a "go nuts" mode, where players are given the opportunity to pull off stuff that makes even the most broken of Constructed decks look tame by comparison. And the coolest thing is that even new players who don't have that many cards in their collection are able to do reasonably well provided that they construct their decks carefully and / or are reasonably good players. I really dig that and I've had a lot more fun with this mode than both Constructed and Arena lately. I also love that you can do your daily quests in there as well as the free pack, as it's really helping build out my card collection which is very lacking at the moment. I really, really hope they keep the free pack thing going, although I know they said they'd only do it for the first few weeks. It's just so helpful and I'm having more fun playing Hearthstone these days than I have in months.
I've also been having a lot of fun with the Tavern Brawl tonight. I understand not every week will interest all players, but I think it's really cool that they're giving us this new feature.

Played one game, CW against Patron. Was close and fun actually, but I'm good for the week.

Now I'll try control warrior, see what happens.

made my win with mill rogue and now bye bye aggro cancers! You can play in your aggro heaven as long as you want (well 4 days actually).
If you think rag vs Neff was bad then you instantly lose all credibility.
there are some fun variations you can play, it's just disheartening to see the same mage, hunter, and zoo decks. And a mill rogue? Get out of here!
