I hated this weeks brawl, like many others. I do have hope for future brawls though. This week had many upsides jumbled in its downsides, and I wanted to discuss them and talk about how this may affect future brawls in positive and negative ways.
First, the positive of this week's Tavern Brawl:
-Cool op cards to play with (for each class, but more for Nefarian)
-Reward system (something the game lacks in most areas)
-Open possibilities (this mode changes each week, so there are many opportunities to change or improve it)
Now, the negative:
-UNBALANCED gameplay (Nefarian wins almost every time)
-Repetitive gameplay (same 2 decks and classes each time)
-Lack of content (the 2 points above and a pack are what you get this week)
OK, so now that I've gone through that, let me talk about how this affects the brawls. First of all, this week is a learning experience for Blizzard. Now they know that some more playtesting must be done or else the mode will be no fun. They will also know that they need to increase content (more deck and class options) or else no one will play it after day 1. They also know that they did some things right. These include cool new cards to play with and some basic rewards. If these good things are implemented better, the brawls would become infinitely better. As far as the option of new possibilities, Blizzard could do so many things better than this week. A few ideas I had involved implementing new op cards in an otherwise normal constructed deck for each player. This would challenge them to use the cards the most efficiently as well as teching against others with the cards. Another idea would be a constructed deck that could not use 0, 1, or 2 drops, shifting the game into a more control game. The constructed decks could allow for more replayability and content. Anyways, I'm hopeful Blizzard can recover from this week's misstep and turn brawl into something awesome. Tell me what you think of my analysis and ideas and give me some of your's!
