People are gonna kill me for saying this but I actually like this decklist better than Nefarians...I think its because I like controlish decks. Plus, if you can make it to the mid game you can guarantee yourself a win.
While Nef gets 5 mana to start playing Dragons on turn 1-2, we get FLAME IMPS. Flame Imps, 3/2s against 6/6s 7/7s and 8/8s...jesus christ, did they even TRY to balance the decks out?
If the Nef player takes any advantage of the hero power it's over. The draw rate for the random spells are insane and so many of them change the game. if not its fairly easy. I think you have to get a bad opponent to win.
Use Flame Imps and weapon to remove the 3/5 and 5/5 minions.
Use Magma Raider and weapon to remove 7/7's.
Magma without weapon to trade is fine. Do use weapon because you need hero power asap.
Save cards.
This gets me to turn 6 almost everytime. After that it becomes a lot easier. If you removed minions with weapon you should get Moltens for free by now. I've not needed the Emperor yet. Don't worry about your health. Nef depends on minions and a lot of luck to get spells that do damage. Just keep removing minions and after turn 6 it gets in your favor.
After turn 6 do everything possible to save Grimstone. Nefarian's hero power can't beat free legendaries and pray to RNGesus your hero power won't hit Nef.
It's random, I got Rag 4-5 times in a row at first too.
I definitely feel this is the weaker of the two deck lists though, or at least much more reliant on a good start to succeed. I've won with both, but eh.
Rag is doable as long as the opponent doesn't start with Razorgore. Never won a single game when he had it in the early game and usually get rekt at turn 5
Ragnaros is definetly much weaker than Nefarian. The 4 mana headstart is to good considering that that's the only major difference between the 2. Nefarian should start with 50 or 45 health and no armor.

I think Nef is Blizzard's attempt to capture whether the control play style is accessible to players. Not whether or not it is viable, but how accessible it is. Would love to see how Blizzard is tracking win stats with the deck.
Nefarian is definitely the aggro deck in this match up, floods the board early and tries to end the game earlier because Rag is definitely the better of the two in the late game.

Ragnaros
Health: 60
Hero Power: Molten Rage
Notes: Switches to DIE, INSECT! hero power after Sulfuras is destroyed.
Ragnaros starts at 0 mana and has a control-style deck. Try to mulligan for some removal so you can get rid of the huge minions Nefarian plays.
Decklist
The following deck is used by Ragnaros in the Showdown at Blackrock Mountain Tavern Brawl.

Darkscream, I played twice and got to play both. So 50-50.
For what's it worth. I lost with Nef and won easily with Rag. 0 cost giants is a treat.

It's pretty balanced. But you need a few games to get familiar with both decks.
Nefarian seems easier - have won with both though.

There are 3 living lavas.
Here is a proof
I see two living lava and a whirling ash in that screenshot. Did you mean to post something else?
EDIT: Is that the third one in the log? I can't really tell.
Why the hell doesnt rag have fireballs and has lava burst instead??? Overload is the last thing you need as rag...
Both decks would changed a couple of times or you start with different decks sometimes.
I had sometimes 3 Living Lava and sometimes 3x Son of the Flame and as Nef i had double Toxitron and one time a twisting nether (for 6Mana).
There are two in my hand and there is one more which is already played. The third one can be seen on the left above blackwing corruptor.
