I literally cannot think of a worse brawl to have as a Brawlesium. Why this one?? This flavor of this brawl encourages you to tinker around with the minions in your deck to see which combinations are strongest at 1 mana, but making it a Brawlesium format completely throws that out the window. It took me 4 runs of tinkering with my Gonk druid deck to actually find which cards I liked and which I didn't, and by that point the entire ladder was infested with Shark Rogue and Mind Blast Priest because hardly anyone will invest 150 gold multiple times just to just tinker around with a cool mechanic. Because of that, everyone results to netdecking.
I'm actually dumbfounded how bad blizzard dropped the ball on this one. Even a totally random brawl would make a better Brawlesium than this.
This Brawl is one of the most insane RNG-fiestas I've ever seen. I've seen every kind of OTK and highroll with Alexstrasza, Malygos, Shark, Zola, etc. Definitely not an enjoyable experience when everyone is onto the same OTK-ish strategy.
Rogue feels the strongest BY FAR, thanks to Spirit of the Shark. Since the only way to buff minions is through battlecries and card play, Rogue is best situated to do that. I don’t know why you would risk 150 gold and play anything besides a Rogue deck. Went 10-3 with Malygos Rogue and then 12-2 with a battlecry rogue that abused Bonemare, Fungalmancer and Shadowstep to win games by turn 4-5. Lots of mirror matches, feels like everyone is quickly figuring out this strategy.
It’s a shame that this requires an entry fee, because it’s going to discourage experimentation. I may try to build a silence deck that counters this, but it’s hard to imagine it working too well when you sacrifice the initiative. Maybe a Quest Priest that runs a lot of silence effects?

I don’t even think it’s netdecking, people just quickly see that a certain deck crushes them and then they go make that deck. My first run I tried Hooktusk Rogue with a Mecha’Thun failsafe and did ok, but was eliminated by Malygos and Shark rogue decks that steamrolled me. After that, I adopted the same strategies and had big runs. It’s an unfortunate thing, but gold is gold and if Blizzard is going to charge us to play, I want to be sure I get my investment back.
I hopped on the shark rogue bandwagon went 9-3 with a hilarious first game with it. A Druid togwag me turn 1 and managed to steamroll me before I could swap back. Brawl right now is 96% rogue which is unfortunate.
Best brawl ever. I've farmed up 2 legendaries from rewards so far going 12 wins endlessly farming those netdeck rogues. Keep 'em coming!
Edit: to you lot complaining about pay2win, just craft Alex and Maly. Seriously. They're classics and have been relevant ever since the game has been out. The constructed decks they're in are also often tons of fun. You're missing out and not just in brawl rewards
I obviously didn't get to attack with VanCleef but it feels great to pull off things (and be able to play one of my favourite Decks without it getting curbestomped by idiotic Decks like Big Priest or Aggro) like this... So,I might be the minority, but I hope Brawls like this come back more often... Long live the Essence of Magic!
So, the "FU to all new players and those without huge collections" Brawl is back for the fifth (?) time. And on top of that it's Heroic format...
This would be somewhat enjoyable if it weren't for all the OTK decks trying to kill you in like 6 turns. But just before rotation and release of the next expansion it's nothing more but a filthy way to drain people of their gold resources. And yes, I know the first run is free and you won't have to play it other than to get your pack...
Someone posted this in another thread. YOU DON'T HAVE TO PLAY THIS.
If you're F2P and you're spending your gold on this, you cannot complain about not having enough gold or dust when the expansion comes around.
You did realize I've stated that exactly in my first post, right? My gripe with this Brawl is the same I have with Blood Magic or comparable ones. They're lopsided in that a single class completely dominates the others. Blood Magic is 100% Druid vs. Druid and "Whoever goes first and holds UI at the start wins on turn 1", then there've been multiple Mage-heavy decks SMOrcing/burning you to hell and back and now we get to play the Brawl which is mostly Rogue or Priest. Finally it requires you to own a bunch of specific legendaries (namely Malygos and Alexstrasza but the optimized lists run many others on top of that) in order to keep up with other people.
Yes, I know you can't have 100% enjoyable Brawls for everyone week in week out. And sometimes the veteran players or those who collected most of the cards should have an "advantage". But why make it a Brawliseum, just a few weeks before rotation? Just so that those players are able to farm rewards which they probably don't even need anymore? I don't get it. In my opinion Blizz really dropped the ball big time. My idea would be that Maly, Alex and a few other cards are banned just to prevent these cheesy OTK strategies and allow for actual experimentation. They've done it in the past, why they don't do it for this one is something I fail to grasp.
Still a lot of unanswered questions in this brawl. I wish they have a "casual" mode for me to test it out without wasting an entry
Does mojomaster give empty or full mana crystals?
Do the three princes trigger if you have 2/3/4 drops because they are technically 1 drops instead?
How do any of the recruit cards behave? Will oakheart recruit anything for the 1 attack card and nothing for 2 and 3? Can guild recruiter recruit minions fatter than 4 mana because everything is a 1 drop?
Still a lot of unanswered questions in this brawl. I wish they have a "casual" mode for me to test it out without wasting an entry

Trying out druid next. I ran into someone on my friendlist playing it at 10-0. It looks like netdeck rogue with Cenarius, tending tauren, gloop sprayer, grand archivist and UI. I've seen some with roar instead of the archivist combo though. Maly druid doesn't look bad either. I might even break out my Gonk

Yes No Not sure
Thanks... erm the first one isn't really a yes/no question though :D
I can confirm that Bwonsamdi, the Dead does nothing unless you have cards that started as 1 drops.
I knew it was too good to be true.
Play Rogue or get out....seems fair.... I'll do my freebee and then leave.
Blizzard really became the worst fucking company ever. Jesus christ. These devs. May karma strike back.

Stupid ass brawl requiring zero skill. Slap down alex and maly by turn 3 f*%# off
Ban these cards from this brawl and it would be a lot more fun

whoever draws better wins. 0 skill, terrible brawl.

Do you have alex and maly? Great! We would like to thank you for your commitment to the game
No? Well fork you!
does anyone know if silence brings back the original stats of minions?
Sorry. Largely my fault.

Anyone mind to post a good Malygos rogue list?
Thx in advance!
