I believe we are missing great opportunities to bring the hearthstone community closer and build even stronger relationships specifically through Tavern Brawls. Hearthstone has obviously always been designed around the PVP format. We do get the occasional PVE brawl that comes along, but they are far too sparse in my opinion. Every week I hold out hope that the new brawl will involve cooperation rather than just another form of facing off against players. This ratio of PVP/PVE should be completely flipped when it comes to Tavern Brawls.
All month long, we grind against opponents on ladder and casual play, and it would be nice to rely on a weekly change of pace where we can come together, recruit friends and face challenging off-meta opponents as a team. This simple change can bring us closer together and help fight the tilt we all experience with relentlessly leveraging the current meta against each other. The current format of Tavern Brawls only serves to attract play for the duration of winning your Classic Card Pack, or quickly figuring out the perfect deck to stack up easy wins. Do we really need another way to grind?
My proposal is to make Tavern Brawls primarily PVE based, they should be extremely challenging to survive the duration they are in play and offer a true sense of teamwork and accomplishment in victory. I have nothing against PVP, but we all know that feeling when you finally defeat a difficult adversary as a team, and that is the missed opportunity the hearthstone community can really benefit from.
In great challenge should lie great reward. Perhaps another change to parallel this could be in the way the Tavern Brawl reward system pays out. This can be changed to a monthly reward upon completion of all previous Brawls that month. This format would allow players to invest more time in them beyond the first pack win that we are seeing now, and enable the rewards to be increased. I only propose these ideas as a loyal fan of Hearthstone. I want to see it survive and thrive. Please let me know your opinions on the matter and lets get this positive change noticed and pushed up as far as we can.
I completely agree. Co-op Brawls are totally on another level compared to other Brawls, which are, as you mentioned, just a grab-your-free-pack-asap most of the times.
However, I think co-op-only Brawls wouldn't be enough to make the mode more consistent (re-played more often than first victory).
What about a Weekly Quest about Brawl? Instead of the usual 1xpack on first victory, you get like, 3-5x packs after 3 victories. Only once per Brawl/Week. That, on top of Co-Op design, would make the mode a nice break against PvP.
The above could also be merged with PvE content at a point, and become a whole...

I'm not sure about making it exclusively PvE, but they should definitely have at least 70% be PvE for sure, it's such a nice change of pace from ladder, and you don't have people grinding their gold in there with unfair decks. The other 30% can still be used for those interesting rules and such, but the "random decks and queue up like ladder" TB's are kinda annoying, they can do away with those.
Also I don't like the idea of increasing rewards, especially for an amount of TB wins. Maybe that's because I don't have as much time to play as most, but really I actually like expecting a Classic pack on Wednesdays, it's become such a staple of the HS experience (imo). Sometimes they offer a pack from the latest set or a special card back, and that's extra reward enough for me. I remember the days when there was a blank space on the main menu and we had no TB's! Not that I'm totally opposed to more rewards, indeed they may have to do something like that in the future to keep people playing, and we could all use more gold and dust.
As a whole I love the idea of revamping TB's to contain more PvE type content, great post!

Except you really need a good partner to win the PVE brawl. And if you want hard ones it is really frustrating if you lose like 5-6 times because the AI is OP
Thanks for the response. I think the 70/30% ratio of PVE/PVE is a perfect mix. As mentioned before; I think the current ratio should be flipped, I wouldn't want it to be exclusively PVE either. As far as the reward system, I think too much reward is a valid concern and should be conservative. However; this can be balanced by replacing weekly packs with long term rewards that are of similar value. I do see your point on players that don't have much time to play potentially missing out on the rewards though and I definitely wouldn't want that to happen as we all get wrapped up in life from time to time. Good points and thanks for your response on the topic.

I agree - I particularly enjoy co-op brawls.
There's of course so much PvP with some limited replayable PvE but co-op is always a welcome relief.

I like the weekly Brawl quest idea as part of making it a more consistent mode, thanks for the input.
By the way: Thanks for the advice on text formatting. Didn’t realize it was so unreadable until posted.

I completely agree. In the past the PvE and co-op style Brawls were rather underwhelming. But I also think there is much potential in it. In November last year they made a very interesting co-op Brawl at Fireside Gatherings. https://firesidegatherings.com/en-us/blog/22596835/november-2018-fireside-brawl-forward-to-the-past-10-31-2018 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuitHDviFsU
