I think Hearthstone should be all about fun! Fun decks!! experimenting with new concepts, crazy DECKS, new DECKS, smart DECKS, "shaorma" DECKS; you name it! But these Heroic Brawls are simply not fun because the players are pressured by the fact that they PAYED 1000 Gold for the brawl entry, and it might end sadly. So, of course they will pick or try to make Competitive Decks and not Fun Decks ( maybe use the old dragon priest, secret paladin, reno decks etc ), they are ,,forced'' to do this, otherwise the run will not be profitable.
Another issue is related to all the new players out there, players that miss ALOT of the content ( even if they buy from store 15 or 40 packs ). The weekly classic pack can help new players by a small percentage and by removing it ( replacing with heroic brawls ) they lose this tiny bonus.
In my oppinion Heroic Brawls are horrible and they can only appeal to players that have a solid collection already, ,,ranked play maniacs", or just rich people that dont mind spending 100$ a day.. but for the average John and Molly, these events ARE NOT FUN.
To make long story short, this event is totally UNFAIR. This heroic brawl is full of legend players, no fun at all! They get to choose the cards also, what a joke!
They are the ones that go above ranks 8, all the rest are just fresh meat
Normally I would agree that heroic tavern brawl is just for rich people (with big collection)
But this month you also get a full collection and then it's on you (if you are willing to spend 10 Euro/Dollar)
Balls or no balls to try it
PS: I have friends who throw 50-100 euro a week away in slot machines, where 10 euro seems reasonable lul
That's not true, you still have to build the brawl deck from your own collection.
"In the upcoming brawl, challengers will create a Wild deck using any cards from their existing collection and lock it in before their first Heroic Brawl match."
They make for awesome twitch/vod watching. That's all I care about. This one in particular will be cool because we will see a lot of players who don't typically play Wild playing against people who play it more often.
I think that it would be great if they would make it less expensive. That way more people would be able to play it and have fun without a fear of losing bc they spent 1000 gold.
I think it's nice, new things to spectate on Twitch and a focus on best decks (wild in this case) because there's no place for random or silly things after spending 10€/1'000 gold. The only change I would like to make is to pay not a single run, but a week entry, maybe even more expensive: something like 1'500 gold without limit of runs.

The Top 64 qualifier thing is also helping with that too, I know at least Firebat was tryharding the ladder for it which is always fun to watch. Overall I'm pretty excited that Wild is getting exposure on a much bigger scale this month.
I actually don't think arguments about the cost, or taking away normal Tavern Brawl, or that it shouldn't be competitive have much merit; I do think that there's some merit to the idea that this HTB was too close to the last one, and that we got a whopping 24 hours notice when it was going live. They did explicitly state there would be a Wild HTB after Un'Goro went live, but to me the announcement would have made more sense to have last week.
Personally I'd rather they at least put the damn things on a set schedule already, just because it's currently the best thing we've got to a tournament mode in-client. Having 2 per expansion (1 in Standard, 1 in Wild) seems like a reasonable amount. Casual players can have the other 46 weeks of the year for normal Brawls, short of an ACTUAL in-game tournament mode being implemented this is the best tournament players have to something that caters to them. And not even hardcore competitive players, I'm just talking the guys like me who enjoyed Pre-Release events for Magic and don't live in a city where Fireside Gatherings happen.

I certainly wouldn't complain about a set schedule for it. That way people could prepare. But, since I'm almost certainly not taking part, it doesn't bother me, personally, all that much.
How are they "robbing" us when they are the ones who give us the free pack every week? I wish the Heroic TB was cheaper as well, but it's not so I don't play it. I watch the streamers instead. It's one week/pack and we just received 3 free packs. I think we'll all 'live' for one week without our free Classic pack O_o
P.S. I'm also unsure why some people think we are being "forced" to do anything. If you don't want to play it, then don't play it!
I'd be fine with it if it happened, say, once a year, as a big competition with lots of fanfare, but it's looking like it'll be happening pretty regularly, which not only kills the novelty, it makes 95% of the players feel unimportant.

So if you look at what I had posted as an example, 6 HTBs a year (3 Standard, 3 Wild) is still only ~12% of Tavern Brawls in a year. For all I care they can even redistribute those 6 packs some other way, it's a decent amount but I don't know that 6 Classic packs is making or breaking anyone currently. Keep in mind I'm perfectly aware the packs are also just gravy on top of having a casual playmode to spam during the week that has a good chance to not even require anything more than a level 20 class to compete with; that's obviously one reason I do think having it as a separate mode would be ideal, albeit one that's problematic in its own ways (do you add a button for a mode that's only live for ~10% of the year?).
The main thing is that your position is that 95% of the players feel "unimportant", but how do you think the 5% felt? And how much of that 95% actually have Tavern Brawl as their main game mode? Like I said, short of a full-fledged tournament mode (which I'd be happy with) the tournament players don't have in-client support whatsoever outside of HTB; this is a game mode that unapologetically caters to those individuals. I'd argue that portion of the playerbase is every bit as relevant in wanting to be recognized as the casual playerbase, because that's a very important portion of card games that for the most part is still very inaccessible for Hearthstone players (namely, casual tournaments).

Did I once mention the loss of the Pack? No. I am talking of the playing experience. They are robbing us of the possibility to play the game the way we want to. Playing Tavernbrawl is one of the last fun things remaining in this game. How'd you feel if they'd just shut down casual for a week and put an entry fee on ladder. Does this not inhibit your way of playing? Does it not "force" you in one direction? Either pay or not play for a week?
Also nice that you cropped out the part of the people with cognitive dissonance cause you are certainly one of them.
That's the same way I feel way the put some random non=constructed RNG fest on Tavernbrawl. so tell me how this is any different? because of the fee? Hardly, I'm not willing to pay the destruction of my soul as I'm bored to death by the next RNG fest of the week. You're not willing to pay the money.

Which is why I put out the question; how large of a population is actually using Tavern Brawl as their primary game mode? And how often do they play every Tavern Brawl repeatedly (since some are a lot more fun than others)? It's only inhibiting how someone is playing if they spend a lot of time in TB, and we really don't have any sort of numbers to work with on that. Anecdotally I tend to just play it for the pack and move on, with a couple of exceptions where you can build broken decks (like Top 2); for me skipping a Brawl isn't the end of the world because I don't really enjoy pre-constructed decks, but I can totally understand the appeal. Just like I can understand the appeal of Heroic Tavern Brawls. Unless there's something to prove otherwise, I'd be very shocked if it actually impacted that many people to be missing a TB either (outside of the quest and the pack).
The problem with your comparison is that Casual, Arena, and Ranked are all modes that don't change every week outside of Meta shifts (which the community and set releases drive). They're consistent in how they work, while Tavern Brawl inherently is not. It's always been a testing ground and it's always been a crapshoot for how accessible it was, with HTB being the highest risk and highest reward. It doesn't mean there isn't a better place to have a mode catering to tournament players, just that out of the places that exist Tavern Brawl still makes the most sense for hosting the game mode. Blizzard isn't killing puppies here, it's a damn game mode that occurs a small amount of the time to serve a small amount of the population.

Well, to be honest I only played it once, got 3-4 wins and that was the end of it. I got a pack and from it some not-so-good cards...but one was good. Golden Small-Time Buccaneer, it was shortly after they had nerfed it, so I was lucky enough to dust it for 800 dust and get a full refund...other than that...I just can't see profit in it, I'm a F2P and it is just a bit too much for me.
Remember when Tavern Brawl was *the* game mode that any new player looked forward to? That's my issue with Heroic Tavern Brawl. If Blizzard wants to keep new players, they can't "take away" an established formula that helps them.
While I definitely won't play any Heroic Tavern Brawl due to having never had a highly-competitive deck, I like the concept of the heroic brawls. But why don't they simply add the Heroic Tavern Brawl on top of a regular one for that particular week, instead? It doesn't take a genius to figure out that it's the ideal solution to the dilemma between a normal and heroic brawls, methinks.

I dont mind the concept, but i'd like it to be some cheaper in real money (30-40% less may be), this way it should be way more popular.
