In the past week I have played against nothing but Bots, all with weird jumbled letters as names, playing the same deck. 20 games shouldn't take as much time as it did, they play really slow, but..at least not as slow as actual players, so that's a plus.
Bot makers, Make your bots play as fast as the Blizzard bots, please and thank you, they are still super slow.
I'm forcing my MMR to stay the same by conceding a few games when I win too much, that's so I can enjoy playing Tier 4 decks on ladder. A side-effect of this is that I end up playing against a LOT of bots. How many? 4 out of 5 games are guaranteed to be bots as of today when it's the worst it's ever been. Some of them are names I recognize from months or years ago, still here, still botting.
The dev team's open war against bot accounts has not changed my experience one bit in the past half year. In fact, I'm starting to get worried that my account might get flagged because I report over half the people I play against.
If the game needs bots to be alive it's already a dead game. I'd rather play vs a slow real person than a fucking bot.
It doesn’t need bots, it just has them. Blizzard stated a while back they were removing their bots from ladder and they’d only be deployed in Apprentice ranks. And their bots were only really for low MMR/new players to give them a chance instead of throwing newbies with a limited collection up against an experienced player with the best meta deck.
The bots now are typically easy to pilot aggro decks that actual players are setting up. Could be to grind XP/gold, I’ve also heard some people might build up accounts to then sell. And the players in China who got their servers shut down may also be getting onto NA servers now and botting, as I’ve heard the players from China don’t consider it cheating. I personally think it’s the later as the biggest increase in bots seems to have occurred after the China servers shut down. But I’m just speculating at this point.

Could not disagree more. The game's -fairly- dead, so bots are expected given how the game plays. I would 210% rather face a bot than someone that's going to start roping every single turn when he starts losing
I love facing AzeriteSnake AzeriteHawk AzeritePlayStation and AzeriteLULz. Clearly not bot names or anything at all. I dislike bots in general regardless of HS or losers making their own. Its just not fun for me. Its def ruining the game for me at this moment not just the meta.
He is correct. If you see a color/gem followed by an animal its def a HS bot.
Pretty sure those are the ones that got banned. You can tell because the game allows you to add them as a friend. You cannot add Blizzard bots as friends.
If you're seeing them after the ban wave, it's because they are newly created (third-party) bots.

You're making a good point but it depends on what kind of bots they are. In my experience there are arena bots that have decks so well constructed that you'd think they picked all the cards from a player's collection. I suspect they are put there by blizzard to limit the number of wins you get, and give you incentive to keep playing.
In ranked there seems to be "players" who always has what they need on hand and can deal with anything you throw at them. I know you can get it by luck of the draw so I'm also spectulating. Bots might be just fine if they can be beaten by anyone, but if players use bots that are designed to play an easy deck with perfect accuracy then it's not fun to play against.
@op: Are you under the impression that the individuals behind the bot pandemic have any consideration at all for other people? If you are, you're in for rude awakening.
The whole bot infestation is driven solely by profit, period. If they could make more money by roping, they would, don't worry about that. It is essentially parasitic and antisocial. It will potentially end up killing the game too. Once the host is dead, they would move on to other games and try to parasite their way there too.
On the bright side, a lot of HS Players enjoy playing against bots, so playing only against bots might end up being a good things for everyone.

I don't think I ever run into bots. I really don't understand.

If you play Standard on NA server, you've more than likely encountered a bot; can basically guarantee it.
Names are usually jumbled up random letters... or (I'm assuming for the blizzard bots) a Color + an Item/thing ... i.e. LimeDrake // SilverBear

I do play Standard on NA, so I guess I will pay more attention to this!
