I like the Anomalies. They force you to think on your feet and adapt to the circumstances. Plus they're not TOO disruptive, I was able to win games when the anomaly very much so did not favor me (like the "First minion each turn costs 1 less" Anomaly, when the first minion I played the entire game was a Turn 9 Arcane Wyrm). The Coin one in particular is hilarious because you can cycle coins each turn, insanely useful if you have a Yogg in your deck you want to discount.
As for Mage, Void Scripture feels great. Maybe a bit slow (you want to wait until at least Turn 6 to play, though waiting until ~8 is ideal).
Thoughts? Yeah, no. Stupid. Game is just as skill-less & silly as always. The power levels of certain cards is beyond moronic. But, it does take the thought out of it which is what most of the player base wants. You got it, kids.
Anomalies break certain decks and render others unplayable so they are a horrible idea.
Warrior seems quite powerful, Sanitize is probably one of the best warrior cards ever printed. Personally, I am playing around with the Chaotic Tendril package. They seem surprisingly good (on average).
Confirmed unplayable. Shuffling copies of cards when played? Changing my hero power? What. The. #$%^. Is this garbage? When is this crap over? Seven days? Time to take a break then. They can shove this special anomaly mode up their a$$.
Just like you would expect from a Yogg themed mini-set and event it's super polarizing. Some people love it and other hate it.
I personally absolutely love it and wish that there a mode where Anomalies are always active like right now. If enough people like it they might even do that. At least an option for friendly games would be nice. The Anomalies are making each game so much more interesting. And even if in the mirror match or another deck with the new Cho'gall it would stack to 50% that indeed would make it just happening every 2 games. I wonder if in the future I will be playing friendly games where we just restart the game until we get an Anomaly. Probably. The question is how often or if that just gets too annoying.
After a few games I thought about anomalies and got this idea: what if they made them as regular cards that take up card slots and then corrupt your deck with various effects? There would be all kind of anomalies in terms of rarity, some of them maybe so powerful that would also have a downside, like reduced starting health, increase cards cost etc. Seems a lot of fun to me.
Ofc what we got is not nearly that exciting but I like anomalies even the way they are now, they provide some fluidity which HS needs so much with recent underwhelming expansions.
I like subtle abnormalities that are fair to everyone. - golden card (duh) - 1 mana hero power
But there are some abnormalities that can be detrimental to specific builds - Card reshuffling can drastically the chance of combo builds looking for their win condition card (eg. Sif). - Having the 1 attack each turn is advantageous against paladins with their divine shields and 1 health minions. - Having a minion dominated build benefits from the +1 health to minion per turn. - Having a 1st spell cost 1 mana less is welcomed only by mage and other spell classes. And so on.
Good thing the abnormalies will be gone soon, looking fwd to a more "normal game".
Some anomalies are just bad. I’ve been playing several decks, if you’re struggling with classes that start with W, nature shaman destroys them. However it can’t compete when warrior gets an upgraded hero power. Likewise, demon hunter is an easy win, except when they already have 1 damage each turn. I’m not opposed to the anomalies, but I’m looking forward to them leaving. It sucks going into a close matchup to have the opponent get an advantage over you before the game starts and lasts the entire game.
what if they made them as regular cards that take up card slots and then corrupt your deck with various effects?
Yes! Exactly this. Although I personally think maybe some "Anomaly" side deck of a few optional cards would be even better. And for most of them or as a general rule they could always be in effect when the other deck has the same Anomaly. Yeah, that would be super fun. Especially in friendly games where that would basically be a super easy way to implement a "custom game mode". I would already know what I would pick: The card reshuffle one, a Renathal-like one where you have another side deck of cards that are shuffled in if active, and of course one that picks another different random one each game. Or something like that; depending on whatever they're gonna release. But overall all I can say for myself: Normal cards? i sleep "Anomaly" cards? REAL SHIT
Just played a game as relic DH against mech rogue… first minion each turn costs 1 less… this is exactly what players hate about the anomalies, sometimes there is just a clear advantage for one player and it takes deckbuilding and balance and throws it away. Fun for battlegrounds, but not for modes that aren’t competitive slot machines.
