I didn't really notice every detail because so much happened at once, but after my opponent had played Grand Magister Rommath he still had 10 mana. So either he made it cost 0 or he restored all the mana he paid for it. I'm just curious. Are there any cards that would enable this scenario, or is it a bug?

Unless he had Kael'thas Sinstrider out and played two 0-mana minions first... Frostwhisper's Deathrattle is the only way in Standard to do that.
