I started playing during Ungoro as a f2p player. I only ever played mage and didn't really mess with synergies or check netdecks or anything. I basically spent the entire time screwing around, and mostly losing, as mage. Somewhere around 100 total wins, I quit the game. I was just so fed up with the average priest play style of winning the game by wasting your time. I didn't play hearthstone again until shortly before the release of Barrens.
I've since played quite a bit and even hit legend right before Stormwind launched. All the while, still despising every priest encounter. I've got around 1000 wins across multiple classes. There were a few times that I nearly quit again when infinite generation priest conquered the upper ranks but I decided to play a lot of Arena instead until the launch of Stormwind. My hate for priest was so bad that I even disenchanted any epics or legendaries I had for the class, assured I would never play it.
Then stormwind launched. When I did my pack opening, the first card I received from the expansion was a golden Benedictus. Since then, I have checked out pretty much every archetype except garrote rogue and shadow priest is BY FAR the funnest deck in standard rn, imo.
I know many are rightfully upset about this expansion and the solitaire nature of some decks out there (which shadow priest absolutely reks btw) but I can't put fully into words how happy I am to see control priest in the crapper while a priest archetype I can actually get behind has its time to shine.
To me Shadow Priest is kind of a Face Zoo Deck : Throw cheap minions on board, go face (it's easy because no one has the time anymore to play taunts) and hope that you finished in Round 6.
Granted, it is still better than trying to play your Priest Questline and getting kill largely before even completing step two by every Paladin, Mage or Shaman you cross.
They just turned Priest into Hunter. If you like that style of deck you could already play it.
Well to be fair, I normally an avid priest player and have been enjoying quest hunter. Some say it is reminiscent of a certain priest deck. If the meta was slower it would probably be my favorite deck in a long time.
