At least on my rank more than 80 % of the ladder is Lunacy Mage. Even in the rare occasion you face something else it's either Aggro, Tickatus or something relying on random cards like Yogg Saron to decide the game.
How can it be possible that Wild, despite having more cards, significantly more powerful decks and crazy combos feels like it's a way more sane meta than standard?
Say what you want about decks like Secret Mage, Reno Priest or Kingsbane Rogue in Wild. They are really powerful and not that fun to play against. But they are somewhat predicatble. You at least tend to lose to cards/win conditions that actually have been put into the deck. You can play around cards and tech against it. The average Standard game at the moment feels like a trolden episode.
I was mostly playing wild for the past 1-2 years and Classic since it came out. I was really exited to try out the new Standard Meta after all the new Cards + Core Set + Balance Changes. After playing it for the past 2-3 days i am actually shocked how bad it is. This has probably been the most frustrating and unfun experience i ever had playing a game.
These times have come before, they will come again. Just be a little patient, and perhaps steer clear of hyperbole. :)
If we can get through Patches, Jade, Midrange Shaman, Even Paladin, Ramp Druid and all the other Worst Decks Ever, we can get through this. If Standard isn't doing it for you, try playing Wild for a while.
There will be a nerf, things will be better. Then a new deck will arise and the cycle will start again.
Man, I was one of those players angry about some changes, but this expansion is ok, hope they continue like that and save the game finally, cause many stuff still doesn't look promissor. Nerfs will come, hope doesn't get into pen flicker.
it could be worse. wild is all secret paladin or OTK mage which kills you by turn 7 about 80% of the time because refreshing spring water is disgustingly op and blizzard has printed cheap card draw and cost reduction for them every single expansion. been OTK on turn 5 before, its the dumbest shit ive ever seen.. either you get lucky and they dont have double block and frost nova or you luck into loatheb draw, which still isnt enough most of the time because they are sitting on block still.
Play Arena, Duels, Casual or an entirely different game until things settle down and adjustments are made. I honestly don't understand the mentality of some people banging their heads against the wall and forcing themselves to partake in an activity which they clearly aren't enjoying at the moment.
One of the worst launches ever. At least when Galakrond Shaman and Demon Hunter were broke on launch they actually sorted it in a few days. Spring Water Lunacy Exploit Mage is even more broken if you ask me and there still aint been shit said from Blizzard other than "discussions". Pathetic.
I haven't seen any secret mages and only some previously mentioned retard decks at wild. Seems people are exploring and wild seems to be quite healthy comparing to time before expansion.

you must not be playing ranked or something then. prety much everything i have faced on my alt account from B10-G5 is otk mage, secret paladin and a few new cthun rogues. not sure what those guys are trying to do, they lose to paladin and mage which is pretty much the entire meta outside the occasional murloc shaman and big priest, which im sure it loses to both of those too.
actually, thats all i faced to legend on my main and all i see there too, just a few more murloc shamans and less rogues.
Thanks for raising this, OP. This is not something that is said every expansion, before and after release. There aren't any threads that you could have added this to, you were absolutely correct to make a brand new one.
I'm really enjoying it, if I wasn't, I wouldn't be logging in or coming here. There are a ton of cards and interactions I'm yet to explore and I think a good foundation has been set for what should feel like a very different Hearthstone in the coming year.
Priest has been flipped on its head which is cool, Xyrella feels fantastic to use and Kazakus is good fun. Less predictable than sonething like a Zephrys but thats what also makes it fun.
I get the Deck of Lunacy and Tickatus part, but simply complaining about 'aggro' as a whole is plain dumb, aggro archetypes always existed and will always exist, it'ss a given in card games, and not a bad thing at all, the problem is when it gets out of hand, like with Stealth Rogue in Standard or Secret Mage in Wild. Do you really think that the ladder would be more enjoyable if only control and combo existed? I assure you that as soon as a heavy combo meta pops out you will be longing for aggro to come back. Control will always be more susceptible to the meta because it relies more on reactivity rather than being proactive.
On a side note, as a Wild player I find it amusing the state of both formats right now, it's like we swapped, Wild received the biggest shakeup in a long time and Standard is filled with degeneracy rather than playing new decks with new card from the new expansion.
Look, the fact is, there will never be a perfect standard meta where everyone just loves everything. It will never be everyone's favourite game mode.
That's why the other modes exist. You have Wild, BG, Arena, Duels and now Classic. Plus a ton of older single player stuff and the new Mercenaries mode coming up. Each of these offers different experiences with the HS flavour.
There is literally nobody telling you that you have to like or play standard if it's not something you enjoy.

Yay, the 10th concurrent Lunacy mage thread! Do we get a cake or something?

Don't worry. They will nerf Mage and Paladin and we will return to Roguestone.
Wah I am losing to random

Standard is fine only Pen Flinger is Whore Son.

Just for fun, I did a search for "Worst meta"...
This is the worst meta ever !
by robert_fanr Aug 12, 2018
WORST META EVER
Worst meta
Can't forget about Galakrond Shaman ;)
I agree with you and advise to wait for nerfs, its stupidly unplayable atm
The balance right is maybe slightly on the weak side, but there have been WAY worse balance issues right after releases.
After a few key nerfs, this could end up being very interesting!
I also have to say that flavour wise, this expansion is amazing! It captures the "Horde" spirit perfectly imo.
