No its not a fun deck unless you are addicted to gambling and have compulsive tendencies.Too much rng is killing this game,is not hs as we know it and rng is on purpose from blizzard because it have the same addictive properties as gambling .The game is losing players ,i give it max 1-2 years to became Heroes of the storm.Today i played 7 matches using 2 different Pala and 2 variations of Tickatus Lock , i lost from 7 decks of lunacy mages. If you think this is healthy for the game ,to lose from rdiculous rng ,then reconsider, imagine if we all play deck of lunacy

You played 2 different Tickatus locks......Yep, Not sure you're in any position to talk about one terrible card in Deck of Lunacy when you're quite happy to play Tickatus a card that just discards 10 of your opponents cards, Playing deck of lunacy is about as healthy as tickatus is for the game, The difference is deck of lunacy is only good because the current card pool is so small, Tickatus is just a unhealthy card period, Neither are healthy for the game but one will become worse with each expasion with more spells added while the other will remain just as good if not get better depending on what cards are added, Personally i hate deck of lunacy but you cant really say its unhealthy for the game when you're quite happy to play the second most unhealthy card in the game.........I mean the card is so busted you're playing 2 variations of the deck.
yes Tickatus is problem but is not rng ,the problem with heavy rng is killing the game(and many other things). We know theres a problem in a game when we see 80% of the same decks and right now today i have 14 matches in th row vs mages with deck of lunacy , i autocenced after 7th in thr row.Hearthstone is mediocre to bad designed from day one and instead of fixing the game they make it more frustrating, every serious game have global rules like min 1 mana cost so we cant see 0 mana librams spam.I am watching a lot of streamers ,no one seems to enjoy the game except paid clowns like Regis .I say again , Tickatus is bad yes but rng is worse because blizzard ok purpose put gambling mechanics because of addictive nature of gambling .Any deck that dont let you play is bad, including Tickatus or librams for different reason.

Oh i agree there is multiple problems, Tickatus is just terrible because it completely kills control for any other class, Librams have their issues but less so than Tickatus or Deck of Lunacy i think, RNG has been becoming more and more of a issue for quite awhile now and Deck of Lunacy just shows that, However like i said its not so much the card that is the problem because prior to the expansion it was anything but a problem at all, Deck only became a problem when the spell pool it pulls from is extremely diluted and in most cases just down right predictable......Like you say RNG but right now Deck of Lunacy is'nt really RNG and that is the problem, You know your 9 cost you know its 100% Libram of Hope, 10 cost is going to be Nagrand Slam or Survival of the Fittest.
Theres only 9 8 cost spells and only 3 of them are largely useless, 8 7 cost spells of which 5 are AoE and only 2 are largely useless, 7 6 cost spells of which 4 are large card draw spells and only 1 is completely useless, That is not really RNG it is alot more predictable making it a bigger problem than pure RNG, You know your 10 cost spells are 50/50, Your 9 cost is 100% healing and a taunt with divine shield, Your 7 cost is most likely going to be AoE removal, Your 6 cost is almost always going to be massive card draw, Thats not really RNG, You take Deck of Lunacy to wild and then you've got complete RNG but right now due to the small spell pool in standard Deck of Lunacy is a problem because its not RNG if anything.
Deck of lunacy is good but we do get unlucky and brick on cards that won’t work with the deck yes board of a MPs buffed with arbor a s survival is bit strong but isn’t pally in 3 spots with 3 decks that can basically f up ur cards and give them 0 mana cards to pen flinger u too the 🌙
I was playing Deck of Lunacy back in DMF because it's fun. Now everyone and their dog is playing it, what, because some streamers figured it was good? The deck needed better draw, and now it has it. Guess it's the best now. Quite the fine line, is it?
It's really unfortunate that a deck can go from "wow, you play that trash tier garbage?" to "wow, you play that stupidly good deck that everyone finds oppressive and hates?" so quickly.
Or maybe everyone is overreacting, like they always do.
These forums can be exhausting to read sometimes. I just want a place where I can go and talk about a game I like. Why is it always this polarizing debate about how cards are ruining the experience for everyone else?
This isn’t supposed to come off as mean, but you were playing the deck when it was bad. So everyone playing it now is just a result of it, well, not being bad anymore.
A multitude of things resulted in the deck now being good.
1. Refreshing spring water is broken. The deck has hit a critical mass of card draw.
2. As for deck of lunacy, a LOT of terrible expensive spells rotated. Deck of lunacy was massively buffed by this rotation.
3. Finally, with a new year came a new rotation, obviously. The decks of the previous meta no longer exist, decks that destroyed spell mage.
So you have a combination of many things that pushed spell mage up to the top. The deck is very consistent, does not need lunacy to win, and is even more absurd if you get an early lunacy.
Even if lunacy gets nerfed to “unplayability,” I still think spell mage is tier 1. It’s just an insane deck even without it.
Sorry, I wasn't thinking straight when I wrote that. I can see that clearly a lot of things went into buffing this deck.
I guess it's just upsetting that a card I really like is probably going to get nerfed because it suddenly became popular, and there is nothing I can do about it.
Before, draw felt pretty clunky, especially when you're already behind on tempo because you are spending turn 1 putting minions into your hand, and then maybe playing one of them on turn 2. So, getting a "free" draw 2 for building your deck with the restriction of having only spells seemed okay.
Anyway, guess there is nothing to be done about it. The masses have spoken, and the stats prove that it's being used too much. All I can do now is wait for the axe to drop :\
Here we go, yet another card we can't play around, they get lucky or not is the decider.
Like druids with star alignment or tickatus locks, it is about the order of the deck that is important. If they don't find the tools at the right time, easy win. So just turn on a stream or watch some telly untill the game is over.
The above mentioned decks are great for beginners since you can't do much wrong, while experienced players will look for decks with a more consistent outcome. Something that has a plan revolving around more than a few cards in the deck. I mean imagine having a bad streak with decks cause key cards keeps showing up too late. But if you like to not having to focus on the game and just easy roll your way through the ranks, great play them.
Having played with this card for months now and been spammed with 'greetings' on the final turn by a variety of aggro decks who inevitably smorc me down by turn 5 but not before sarcastically hitting 'well played', I'm starting to find the uproar about it pretty hilarious.
I'll continue to enjoy the tears until an inevitable nerf which will absolutely kill the card and this community can then immediately jump to the next thing they hate. Because you can nerf lunacy, nerf mage into the ground, do the same with paladin but something is going to rise to the top.
Take away mage and paladin and I expect there to be crying about the watch posts and possibly rogue. One thing is guaranteed, the community will not be happy, it will complaint, it will continue to call for nerfs, the game will be dying and you'll move onto the next 'bs' thing that you dislike.
I'll play lunacy as much as possible from now until its nerf.
Yeah, it's just that they could have printed a card likeRefreshing Spring Water without going off the deep end in terms of balance. It's hilarious to compare it to something like Ancestral Knowledge, Solemn Vigil, or Guess the Weight. They essentially decided that a pseudo-condition was worth 4-5 mana. Only thing I can compare it to is Cutting Class, which requires some actual setup rather than just a deck-building limitation that you were probably gonna run anyways for the other synergy.

Bahahaha who on earth do you think you are?
"anybody who plays what I don't like is a bad player, a scrub. Players like me play the real big brain decks"
Why do you lot never post the decks you use? What is it you're using? You know, the one that only the experienced, big boy pants, super clever players can possibly wrap their head around.

Horrible designed card. Ranked is ranked, not tavern brawl. As a opponent, am i supposed to play around every freaking spell in the game that cost 3 or more? I hope they will nerf something that isn't deck of lunacy tho. Incanter's Flow and Spring Water. So all those unfun players wont get their 1600 dust. Paladin has better decks, so what? Playing against paladin doesn't feel that horrible. They doesn't rely on rng, wont draw/generate 10+ cards on turn 4 or so.
This game is now a cluster fuck of bad ideas. Blizzard have zero idea how to balance and test cards. They fuck stuff up over and over and over, then take ages to fix it. All the while you have to face decks you know are unfair and un-fun, particularly if you're playing during the period between "we know we fucked up" and "we've fixed the fuck up".
I know you can't blame the people for playing the best decks, but jesus fuck - I'm just playing mage after mage after mage with some Tickatus warlock and paladin sprinkled in there for good measure. It's boring as fuck and super demoralising if you just want to play something different.
The class imbalance is more obvious now than it's ever been.

I find it hard to believe they play-tested this at all.
What people also don't factor in with DoL mage is how busted the deck is without DoL. It wins 75% of games with DoL but even when it doesn't draw it, the deck is really strong anyway and so it's not a case you are going to win if they don't draw DoL, it just means you have a chance to win still. The only way to beat no minion mage without DoL is still aggro, which still has a 20% wr or so vs paladin. The reason for no minion mage being so strong is:
1. The minions you get from font are extremely strong with the reduced minion pool. You can even get jandice, which is game winning.
2. With primordial/font/apexis mage puts out a mid range push that rivals mid range decks. Like mid range decks, it's weak to aggro, but extremely strong vs control.
3. No minion mage has really good burn that allows it to go face (two mask, two fireball, two apexis, and even ruined orb goes face).
4. Ring toss has an 80% chance of getting counter spell, so you can't deal with their board.
5. Refreshing spring mana is 0 mana draw two at worst or at best it's actually gain 1 - 2 mana draw two. Mage plays more cards in a turn than rogue these days.
6. Apexis minion pool is extremely strong, with very few really awful cards (notably jandice as a 2/1 and there is also a 1/1).
7. Devolving missiles is 1 mana hex, meaning you can't build a board they can't deal with.
What about "Deck of Lunacy: changes all spells in your deck to ones that cost 1-3 more (they keep their original cost"?
You're still getting the upside of having cheaper spells, but the randomness (which is what the card was meant to be all about) stops being so consistently amazing.
Refreshing Spring Water is one of the most insane cards of recent expansions; even in a minion-mage deck, if you have more spells than minions then you're likely to be getting a mana refund and draw 2. It really needs to go down to 1 mana refreshed for each spell drawn, which would make it 2 mana draw 2 (or draw 2 for free if it's been discounted). Someone said mage needed this card? In a no minion mage they already have 2x 3 mana draw 2, 2x 2 mana draw 1-3 (with a spell power minion) , 2x 1 mana get 3 minions, 1x 2 mana get a handful of spells, you honestly think they need 2x draw 2 for free or even gain mana if it's been discounted?
I played no-minion day 1 as I opened a golden lunacy and wanted to see the golden card art, but as soon as i realised how unfair it was (didn't realise about the spell pool being trimmed down) i stopped playing - it doesn't require any skill (which i think is why it's so popular), and it just isn't fun.

Save for Skull of Gul'dan on 3 burst turn games (had two on my run for legend) lunacy might not be the problem, it might be Incanter's Flow.

DoL is so incredibly tilting to lose against...might just grab a pint and wait for all this to blow over...plz nerf blizz <3
Lol, this morning I played against two DoL players, both had double nagrand slams and board clears to ensure empty boards. What can you do but laugh?
