Edwin is not the problem, Shadowstep is the card that allows that monstrosity.
I agree that Shadowstep gives you up to 2 Mana discount but Foxy Fraud also gives you effectively 2 Mana with the Battlecry. It is as busted as it.It was a common thing during the Counterfeit Coin meta where Edwin was thrown turn 1 at a much higher frequency, needless to say it did not get HoFed then and after Coin rotated it was no longer a problem.
Well, obviously that was an exceptional draw. And if you had a response your opponent would have been spent. Still, this is a wondrous example of how power creep has hurt the game. I faced seven minions, none less than three power, on turn two in Wild. Hearthstone can still be fun at times; but don't expect much in the way of strategy and tactics. Some of the games in the World Championship were just downright laughable.
A huge Edwin on turn 1 requires a very specific combination of at least 3 cards (Shadowstep, Foxy Fraud, and Edwin himself), which is quite improbable. Meanwhile more than half of the classes have a single card response for 2-mana or less that can deal with a huge Edwin: Consume Magic, Devolving Missiles, Shadow Word: Death, Sap (and I don't count Subdue as nobody really runs this card on any deck ever). So ok, once every 50-100 games a Rogue will be able to cheat a huge Edwin on t1 and most of these times they will insta-win the game, but some of them they will be left with an 1/1 on board and 0 cards in hand for t2. It feels bad to lose on t1, but it doesn't happen often enough to be considered a problem that needs addressing
All those bright paladins, coming to blizzards rescue trying to find an excuse. YES, you NEED a special combo, and YES not everyone will be able to pull this off. But me for example got matched against druids, who where able to pull their "fill the board and buff them" combo every time. YES, maybe they failed against 1000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000230000000000000000000000000 other players before me, but its fact, that i got matched against them pulling it off. No, its NOT fun.
It's about the fact that Rogues have been doing essentially the same turn for nearly seven years.
That's just too dang long, and things should change.
And yes, Edwin rather than Shadowstep, since Shadowstep does a lot of different things many of them new and interesting as the sets shift, but Edwin only does one boring thing.
i cant see a problem with this play. your opponent has now 0 cards. if u had a silence, or a taunt (and with 1-2 turns get a silence, coerce, something like that), u won. bye

So what is your idea of fun then? Vanilla hearthstone? That was the most 'fair' hearthstone game will looks like.
I thought I was the opponent then I remembered... I never got to make this play. Is it obnoxious? Definitely? Does it happened that often? Definitely not.
I don't know about you folks, but I tend to keep a cheap removal/silence in my opening hand when facing Rogue. Just in case.
But, then I mostly play control decks, so I usually have something to hold onto. I guess if you deck doesn't have any removal this seems a lot more scary. But, there is quite a bit of silence in the meta right now. So, eh. Even when this does go off it is probably countered half the time.
HoF him. It's time.
KEKW.
warrior bad.
The 1st step towards a better game is firing Mike Donais! We had enough of his "skillful" balances!
#FireMikeDonais
when aggro warrior complains. smh

Why do you hate fun and interactive gameplay OP?
tickatus is worse.. as u lose time to play vs his deck for a while.here u concede and get along with your life

Dependable loan sharks since 1960. We sink our teeth into every deal we make.

Nope. You do not face them 24/7. MAYBE if EVERY rogue plays this deck it might be suggested to consider.

Outside of Bronze, every rogue does play this deck.
Yep.
It's not just about one powerful turn, however.
