I have been playing Hearthstone on and off since it released and I have never encountered what I have recently - people that literally rope every single turn just to irritate the hell out of you. I’m at Diamond 4 currently and I’ve run into three today...I like to play fast, and I understand some turns take thinking. But playing one card on curve, no coin, no mana, and sitting there trying to get a free win is just absurd to me. I handle these people the same way they work. Slam cards down and rope them.
So I guess my question is this...Is this a strategy?? This has got to be the most frustrating and least enjoyable thing I’ve ever encountered in Hearthstone.
I hear you get more XP for playing longer games. Or at least, you get XP for being in a game, regardless of length, so in theory, you make more XP for playing a long game than playing fast ones and spending more time in queue.
SOUNDS PRETTY BULLSHIT DUMB ASS STUPID TO ME THOUGH.
Oh, and then some people are just really lame and do this to be annoying. It takes all kinds.

Well, it also compensates long control matches. I really miss Boomsday warrior with double Archivist Elysiana.
And for the pople that rope to make you concede, just rope them back and alt+tab into something else.
Never thought about the “more XP” factor, but that’s a good point.
What’s funny was when he was at 9 health and I had pyroblast in hand as soon as I cast that and spammed thanks I’ve never seen someone concede so fast!

Honestly, making fast turns should reward more exp - That would fix the roping problem - maybe even reduce the amount of exp you get each time you hit the rope timer as a penalty for being slow.

Yeah get punished for thinking your turns and playing around your opponent's cards. Best idea ever.

Honest question... how did you know it was a bot? Or are you joking?
Not just ropers, but people slowly playing out meaningless final turns when they cannot possibly win (e.g. Broom Paladin playing 10 Pen Flingers to face against a lethal taunt wall). Not sure if it's BM or if it is just to boost XP.
XP isn't awarded for lenght of a game but total time in game....so that's not the reason. Must ropers think they get an easy win, so its strategy, and its allowed.... All things go within the rules of the game......But I agree, it's a shitty strategy.

No, that is the reason. Longer games = less time in menus = more xp per hour.

Exactly.... all is within the rules of the game.....And some decisions take longer then others. If its a real problem, which it is not, they could introduce a game clock.......But award bad moves is most certainly not the anwser. More often then not, you'll award the worst playline and penalize the best!!!

I only rope if the opponent is playing an annoying deck, I'm doing my part to keep aggro druid or big priest off the ladder for as long as I can
Just out of curiosity, what deck do you play?
White Knighting through bad etiquette? So brave. So fearless.
Grammar is the difference between knowing your crap, and knowing you’re crap.
A .gif is worth a thousand words.
Thank you for imposing your will upon everyone else as to what is an "annoying deck." My hero.

I think if you rope them back it is becoming like a thing for Them. I agree that it is very annoying but roping back has no winners.

Just give xp based on cards played, attacks made etc. Long games would still count more than short games but it wouldn’t favour ropers.
