... or is it? Week after week, HSReplay places this deck on top of the tierlist, sharing the tier 1 spot with Highlander Hunter and Tempo Demon Hunter. Yet again, every time I (naively and wrongfully) decide to give it a go in a tournament, it falls flat every single time. If the opponent has every last bit of awareness, he will continuously clear wave after wave of murlocs, leaving me behind on board and with an impossibility to gain the benefits of any of my buffers. So what makes this deck show this obscene winrate? Why is it seen as so good when in actuality professional players never bring it to their lineup? Is HSReplay flawed? Do you need to pay money to get actually accurate data? Or what am I missing about this whole deal?
I've given it a try in the last 3 days and it is a really good deck. I don't think there is any other single deck out there where all 30 cards synergize as well as in Murloc Paladin. It loses badly to Tempo DH (even post-nerf), struggles against Egg/Enrage and Bomb Warrior, but destroys Druid and Rogue (who can't deal with wide boards), does great against Priest (Coldlight Seer being the key card to make your minions impossible to remove), performs fine against Mage, Warlock and Hunter, so overall has above average matchups and the best thing is that all matches are super fast

Never trust to anyone .... learn the meta by yourself and play what you think will be strong for your rank/tier or playstyle
I thought someone just won a big ish tournament using just DH, murloc paladin, pirate warrior, and something else aggro? All for the purpose of crushing spell/dragon druid?
It's just like any other deck though. You have to know exactly how much you can overextend. Don't just throw everything out there. Try to bait out those Risky Skippers or other mass removal spells.

The above link goes over why HSreplay is problematic, especially if you don't pay for it, and specifically discusses Murloc Paladin, amongst other similarly problematic HSreplay highlighted decks (the article was written about a month ago, so it's not that out of data with its examples). Fundamentally, there are all sorts of bias issues with what they provide freely, and even in the paid version, they don't really provide good analyses or interpretation, only stats, and it is really up to the reader to understand and appropriately interpret what they are looking at. As such, blindly picking the HSreplay "best deck" can really lead you astray.
If you want a group that does do alot of that analysis and interpretation, while focusing on the upper competitive ranks of the ladder, then I recommend Vicious Syndicate (https://www.vicioussyndicate.com/) instead. You still shouldn't blindly pick stuff to play from VS either, but it is miles better than HSreplay for meta deck rankings and analysis.
Then there is always the "gut check", as HS_trash alluded to. If you are loosing with it in tournaments, no top legend players use it, and none of the grandmasters have it in their decklists, do you really think it is a good deck?
HSreplay is garbage without a subscription, their data is limited to Gold. This data is completely useless because people on these ranks have no idea how to play, they play the green card every turn without thinking and complain about matchmaking on forums after losing.

Don't trust HSreplay, even VS has dropped in quality a lot in past months. I think the best way to analyse the meta is to play the game.
I agree that HSreplay is really bad if you don't pay for it. VS is actually decently accurate even though I don't agree about all their conclusions (ooze has been a great tech card).
I pay for HSReplay and I think it has helped me attain legend the last few months haha (especially after returning to the game just in April). But, yeah, that link someone posted above does help explain how to use HSReplay properly.
The tl;dr version is, just be smart about what you're playing and don't mindlessly follow the stats haha. Murloc paladin is especially good at lower ranks anywhere, just because that's where people might be "experimenting" (for example, at legend ~2000, I like to try to mess around with random highlander decks - mostly shaman and rogue). Of course I'm gonna lose to a deck that can crush me before I even know what's going on lol.
The main takeaway I actually got from that link is when he was talking about Malygos rogue. I never really thought about that, but it's good to know.

Braindead?
That's exactly what pirates and murlocs are for. Easy way for 6 year olds to climb ladder. They even added a new braindead class lol.
Yeah. It's amazing being on almost a double digit winstreak and then get rekt in 6 turns by cute little murlocs.
Lmao its very stupid but from a business point of view I get it. HS has driven farther from strategy has time goes on. You gotta nerd up and play magic or something if want difference. Solid lol though. Turn 6 lethal "Well played" As soon as they added toxfin murloc became as dumb as you can possibly get.

Thanks, this makes everything more clear now. I had a hunch murloc paladin couldn't be good especially in tournaments, but I've been on a break for about a month and just picked the best 4 decks for a small tournament, ended up getting crushed as paladin.

Yeah, my previous comment was a bit of exaggeration, VS is still good (and more importantly free, so I shouldn't complain much) but I have noticed a slight drop in quality for quite some time. A recent example is that they have consistently listed Gala Priest as Tier 3 and even going as far as saying that Highlander Priest is better than Gala Priest. One can argue that Gala Priest is T3 because of Hunter and DH matchups but it's debatable, what is not debatable is the fact that Gala Priest is better than Highlander in every matchup.
HSReplay elevates decks that are easy to play and are good against unprepared opponents. It's hard to make a mistake playing murlocs because it's generally correct to just play on curve. Meanwhile, right now, it ranks Quest Warlock as a tier 3 deck with a sub 50% winrate. And yet, that deck was being piloted very successfully in Masters and is played very frequently in high legend. Why? Because that deck skill tests you. If you don't know what you're doing with it, you're going to lose. A lot. If you do, you really don't have many bad match ups. Myself, I've used that deck to hit legend each of the past three months.
So yeah, don't trust HSReplay. It only tells you which decks are going to be effective with low skill ceilings. Tempo Storm is what I use more than anything.

Try reaching legend with ANY Murloc deck in Wild. It is pretty dam hard. Way too many removals and you do have to play smart if you want to finish your opponent.

Pretty much buddy, yeah. I really don’t know why this deck saw so little play. It goes well against most classes. And it’s cheap.
i mean just winning by chance because they didnt expect it or dont draw removal fast enough on like turn 5/6 seems legit
its not like it doesnt have protection or refill at all :D seems to work wonders, can't complain really
