Do you still enjoy standard after Descend of Dragons or do you just play (and watch) battlegrounds like I do? Though I do not know how many actually play standard at the moment, if we look at twitch.com I usually find that people are watching mostly battleground-streams (e.g. most viewed on stream this moment is Dog with 8.1k, RDU with 4.3k, Educated Collins with 1.4k and fourth comes a standard-player, Boarcontrol with 1.3k). (Biggest streamer, Kripp, plays it almost exclusively). Battlegrounds has also been out for quite some time now, so we cannot just excuse its high numbers by saying that views come from the novelty of the game-mode only.
Though DoD is not a bad expansion in my opinion, I just have not been able to enjoy standard since its release, but have enjoyed battlegrounds a lot.
What is your experience and opinion? Has HS killed itself by introducing standard or is it just me?
I play both but spend more time on Battlegrounds (partly because the games take much longer). Battlegrounds is more fun and addictive because of the gambling effect - you never know what hero you will get or what minions you will be offered by Bob, so that makes you want to keep replaying and trying again.
In contrast, I play Standard mainly out of a sense of duty - to complete quests or to reach Rank 5 before the season ends, rather than for the inherent pleasure of playing it.
Yup, I still play constructed. Standard and Wild. For the first few weeks after BG launched I hardly touched constructed but I've not really played more than a couple of games of BG since Dragons came out. Really enjoying the new set, lots of interesting stuff to try in both Wild and Standard.
because I play hearthstone since the beginning, I kinda boring playing standard/wild, I only play hearthstone to get the quest for 4 - 5 month, until new mode battleground come out, I play battleground a lot for this time rather than a standard
I started playing hearthstone because i like the whole card game thing. BG is a different type of game and it's not for me. But I'm glad people seem to like it.
I made the mistake thinking the season chest is same after 5 wins and after 50, and I used to play ladder just for quests. BG is HS's wild poker, and is a lot of fun. I played 2-3 straight, sometimes twice a day.
and control priest is, didn't even bother to check netdecks till a better equipped mirror beat me and I peeked yesterday at the tier 1. Made rank 15 in 3-4 concentrated days, and that's enough for this decade for me, errrr season :p
BG isn't a replacement to PvP, and as arenas and brawls don't suffice value each time, and the Standard format, especially now, is a good playing ground. Till they do some BG changes, I don't see BG as a priority.
Hi all.
Just a question based on curiosity.

Yes, I still enjoy playing Standard, but also Wild from time to time.

Standard, Wild and no BG. BG is boring for me now.
EU 11/2015+ , f2p 03/2021+: DK 63 / DH 205 /Dr 277 / Hu 733 / Ma 6666 / Pa 1072 / Pr 1165 / Ro 1791 / Sh 1303 / Wl 707 / Wr 664
I play Constructed only. That BG was an interesting approach, but i really hate that you cant choose the targets you wanna attack.
Also, the RNG is so much over the top, its just hilarious.. even more crap than in usual hearhstone.
DoD actually put some nice new flavour into the game, deck variety is bigger than before, and overall constructed feels so much better than bg..

Missing lethal since June 2015.
i always play BG when i can't sleep
most boring game ever ZZzZzzZ
I never liked Battleground at all. So yeah I play Standard. This expansion is the most amount of hearthstone I played since Frozen Throne.
I play only BG. They need to support this mode more. Needs more tribes and units. Hero diversity is okay.

I was playing exactly zero Standard before the Shaman nerf, completing quests exclusively through Tavern Brawls.
Now I'm playing a lot of Standard, and I've barely touched BG even though I kinda sorta want to get a better idea of how that meta has changed.
There are tons of interesting decks now, and because even the "best" decks' win rates aren't through the roof, it's not so scary to experiment.

Happy new year (:
barely, standard sucks ass right now with all the IQ40 decks whose players should be kos.
