Considering all this hype due to Galakrond Shaman and the nerfs people demanded soon after the release of DoD, Blizzard hastily reacted with a nerf/ balance patch announcement as we all know.
However, during the days that followed right after and up today we have seen various decks that surfaced as a counter to Galakrond Shaman. Most of these decks are agro decks, which in their part are countered by all these various control decks.
For my part i have tried some of these decks to see how they operate in Standard. Galakrond Shaman, Galakrond Zoo Lock, Face Hunter, Highlander Hunter and Pirate Warrior. Through all these games i saw that Galakrond Shaman is not that much powerful as it appears. I do not consider my self a top skilled player and i surely make mistakes in some games, but i have the perception to understand what i did wrong afterwards.
We have a current meta that starts to get normal and stabilize. There can be various deck archetypes that can work fine (that is above 50% win rate) in Standard. It is normal to have a deck that gets smashed by specific other decks which in their part are getting ruined by others. This is how all Card Games work afterall.
There will always be 1 or 2 decks that will have a higher win rate than others. And if they get nerfed others will take their place.
My questions are the following:
What is the communities demand?
Do you people insist on having Shaman cards get nerfed (or face Hunter as it seems to getting a hype lately)?
Do you think that this will bring a better more balanced meta?
Aren't you afraid that such a fast response and changes will bring a new archetype on the front which might be even better than Galakrond Shaman, with no chance to have a new balance patch?
My opinion is that current meta in Standard is one of the most insteresting in the last 2 years and we haven't seen it all, yet. Deck archetypes find their way easily in win streaks and they are very fun to play with.
Experimenting is not punished that hard as it used to happen in previous expansion patch early days.
And games are quite thrilling no matter if you lose or win.
Thank you for reading and answering.

Believe in potential; the multiverse blesses some beings with extraordinary traits, with the potential to do—to be—great things.
A part for that, a nerf occour not because a deck is unbeateble, but because a card or a deck are too common, making the game boring as hell.
Faceless corruptor is everywhere and it's clearly too powerfull. Even without rush is a crazy card.
Nerf are to make variety not to make people happy to win with another deck.
Totaly understandable that you believe this. Only thing i will answer is that i have Shaman in level 36 with 28 wins through all my HS carrier :P I hate Shamans generaly and i only started playing during this meta to see how Galakrond Shaman operates. I am a Mage first and then Priest player.
I was playing a lot of Galakrong Shaman and I have the same feeling as you. It was a powerful deck in the beggining of DoD and it still is, but there are also many decks that counter it heavily. I also see that Galakrond Shaman has a very significant disadvantage. It's very depending on what cards you draw, since farsight is the only card draw in your whole deck. Sometimes I just get a starting hand consisting of cards like Kronx, Galakrond, Dragon Pack etc. In a situation like this I always get smashed by people playing Face Hunter, Zoolock, Treant Druid, as I do not hava a response to their fast plays.

So you think the meta, where the only viable control deck is combo Shirvalla paladin (a totally non-interactive boring garbage) is interesting meta? Because no other deck can handle infinite Shudderwocks.
Other decks you find interesting are:
Rogue with 11/10 charge for 1 mana on turn 5.
Hyper agro hunter
Hyper agro warrior
Hyper agro warlock
Now, all those decks are handled nicely by some sort of controll warrior, druid or priest. But these classes are not played because of 50% of meta consists of Galakrond shamans.
Nerf the shamans, reduce their play-rate, that will bring more control decks in play that again will reduce amount of hyper-aggressive decks and balance meta just fine. Absolutely correct decision of Blizzard to nerf so fast.
Secondly, i wish to point out that i have a positive winning rate (i would say > 60%) against galakron shaman with dragon handlock. The deck i'm playing also fares well against aggro decks (aggro hunter and zoolock). However, i do have problems dealing with the control-ish dragon Healadin and Deathrattle handbuff rogue. Nevertheless, an early draw of giants or frizz normally put the game in my favour.
A balance patch is always welcomed. I hope that they can do it consistently and more frequent so that the class representation in the game is healthy.
Toning down the power level of shaman class is good IMO, but to nerf it into oblivion is not.
Lastly, i feel it's unwise to judge the power level of each class two weeks into an expansion. My game experience tells me that shaman's current winning rate and representation do not reflect the actual strength of the class. Anyway, if toning down the power level of shaman gives the majority of the community a better game experience, why not?

The winrate has already dropped to 60%. And it went from 14% popularity to 6% since the 11th.
The problem is already fixing itself. I do agree other decks need buffs though.

While you may indeed get smashed by aggro decks if your starting hand is 5/6/7 mana cards, The same can be said of pretty much any other deck, Not just any midrange or control deck, Literally any deck at all going against a pure aggro deck if they draw well ofcourse is going to be completely smashed if they have 5/6/7 in hand and draw terrible, That is'nt a shaman issue that is just how this game works, A aggro deck given 3-5 turns where the other player does nothing.......Shocker it smashes that player.
Alot of decks run limited card draw, Alot of decks with a terrible opening hand and draw get rolled over by aggro decks because thats just what aggro decks are designed to do, When the only argument you make is one that affects multiple other classes/decks its not a good argument really, Shamans only run far sight for card draw is'nt exactly true though, You might but in general that really is'nt the case.Alot of shaman decks also run Mana Tide Totem, Questing Explorer if they run the quest or Novice Engineer so there is more than just Far Sight for draw in most shaman decks.
When the only disadvantage of the deck you can list is that it dies to aggro decks if you have a poor opening hand and draw a issue that every single deck in the game would face, Very questionable reasoning for it not being slightly in need of nerfs.

at hsreplay galakrond shaman is at 17% and with quest galakrond both decks combined are at 26%
the worst matchup is holy wrath paladin at 42%, then comes the mirror, face and quest hunter which is also a coinflip with 50%

+5% WR over all other decks is too much
I suppose huner will get one card nerf too.
I hope for priest buff also, he has -5% WR comparing to others.

It is true considering Faceless Corruptor i totaly agree on that.
I also agree on the reason nerfs should be implemented. And this is why i titled this thread.

I have over 1600 wins with shaman, and his midrange format is what i love.
But i only play fun decks, and glakrond shaman or the previous evolve shaman are not very interactive...
Back to wild, playing highlander murloc quest shaman..

Didn't the "Blizzard" promise nerf update come up yesterday?

loool not anymore. Priest is tier 1
Hi my dood.
