Hey guys Ive just started playing Hearthstone at the end of last season. I started playing midrange hunter and token druid in standard format and got placed to rank 7-5 stars which I guess was okay for a first try. I'm now stuck to rank 6 tho I reached 2 times 5 stars but lost both promos. Any tips? Also should I change deck? I'm having hard time with the token druid especially against warriors with their huge removals pool. Thanks for listening a newbie :]
That’s amazing for just starting. I’ve played for two years and just got to 5 couple months ago. And then only to 6 last month. Just keep plugging away, and consult sites like hsreplay.net similar to hearthpwn.com, but with winrates too. Don’t worry about people saying it’s stupid to copy decks....they do it too ;)
I’ve only just posted my first self-built deck on here...we’ll see how it goes. Good luck!!
Pretty much anything can reach rank 5. It's possible you just got really unlucky into facing a bazillion Warriors with perfect removal.
If you feel you're facing way too many of them, probably switch to Bomb Hunter or Midrange Hunter, since you probably already have the deck. Dire Frenzy on Tundra Rhinos (or on Scalehides if Bomb Warrior) wrecks them.
Sounds Like you are Doing pretty good already! Sometimes you play that final boss many times before you get that next rank. Its all apart of the game. Good luck and welcome to the community!
budget decks will be your best shot at ladder for a while. I wouldn’t worry too much about finishing above rank 5 for right now you’re already doing pretty well. learn to have fun with tavern brawl and arena for about the next year, build up your cards and by this time next year your standard collection will be as good as everyone else’s.
Try secret hunter. You're likely to face a majority of rogues, warriors, and mirror matches, so if you can figure the mirror out, you've got a some great matchups. Go aggro vs warriors and do your best to disrupt as much as possible with secret hunter vs rogues. Just look out for the Myra + Nomi olay

Yep, from rank 5 to 1 there are a lot of decent players with good decks and no win strikes, but you'll learn a lot there. Mi tips are don't get mad when you loose or get destroyed by some highrolls from mages and rogues because that just will happen, try to anticipate their plays and enjoy the game. Anyway congratulations for reaching rank 5 being a newbie!

Ty mate, I was literally jumping like a crazy kid after winning the promo xD
I think, you should not change your decks. Midrange hunter and token druid is good enough for legend, not to mention rank 5, and with those decks it's harder to make mistakes, that will cost you the game, than with many other decks.

All cards are balanced, but some cards are more balanced than others.
That is impressive - back when I started, I played causals untill they introduced the rewards for ranked (monthly card and golden hero protraits) and arena to improve my collection and for fun.
The advise I mainly hear is to stick with a deck that works most of the times. A deck that have a positive winrate and then just keep at it. The only time I ever reached legend was with a recruit deathrattle hunter deck that was kind of a meme deck at the time before it got refined. I played it all the way from rank 15 to legend from the beginning of the month to the last 2 days before the season ended with time and dedication. I learned what to do against almost any matchups (thanks to netdeckers it is easy to know what they bring). The deck could win against aggro, midrange, control and otk decks so it was pretty solid. It is rare I play a deck like that which are able to adapt to different matchups.

Good ol' Deathstalker Rexxar, Mr. Steal-Yo'-Game himself. I both miss him and revel in the fact that he's gone from standard. Super busted card, but started Hunter's return to top tier. He was the auto-include that hard carried the most successful hunter decks.

Second, something you should know about the bottom of Rank 5. You're going to see some weird shit in the way of opponent's decks.
Once someone makes it to r5, they're guaranteed their golden epic, so they occasionally meme on the deck selector. It can sometimes be a bit frustrating to dig yourself out of that no man's land, because it doesn't conform to any meta expectations. Just keep at it.

Helpful Clarification on Forbidden Topics for Hearthstone Forums:
Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
Gratz man decent start. My experience is at rank 5 u can test different types cause u wont lose rank. Try to get familiar with other decks. If u have 2-3 tier2-3 decks u can climb. And check the opponents. After the season u get golden epic. If u find a counter to a typical deck u can dust and craft one(most techs are epics). If u try Hard legend try to find the tactics/techs which improve your winrate a bit and its enough to reach legend

To be fair, he often wasn't that relevant - The 3 Devilsaurs were. He won me about 5-6 games out of 228 games I have played with the deck. Those games would be against aggro both for his battlecry and his ability to create lifesteal beasts. Dk Rexxar really wasn't that strong - In most matches his battlecry are irrelevant and you don't always get the best beast options. I have almost never struggled against him.

I found him to be invaluable and the reason my hunter decks won any control match that I didn't draw the nuts vs them pulling every 5+ mana card they ran. I ran more aggro builds, and he basically acted as the one-card-solution to control. If I drew him, I could outlast any control deck with infinite pressure and adding cards to my deck with Raptor and Elekk. This was only increased when midrange hunter became the tier 1 deck of last expansion, killing combo, mirror, aggro, and control. If you deck failed, Daddy Rexxar was there for you!
It's nice to hear you didn't need to rely on him (that Devilsaur Egg combo was vicious when it hit! One of my favorite decks of the past year), but I have to stress how OP he was in the meta once his beast pool expanded and everyone recognized the insane power level he brought to any hunter deck, making him an auto-include. Even if he didn't win you most of your games, it's hard to say he didn't play a big role in hunter's rise to success as a whole. I mean, he was in your deck because he was better in his slot than any other hunter card, right?

I guess it depends on which deck you play. As I draw from my personal experience I fail to see it from the aggro/midrange styles of hunter decks and more from the Control/combo oriented styles which isn't that used in hunter. I can see aggro/midrange need him to recover if they run out of juice while control/combo is more as a survival tool/last option (own experience atleast). Many games I hesitated to use him simply because I needed those 2 damage a turn to get in combo range. I guess he was there for survival in aggro matches and as the very last options against any other deck. Always good to pack a backup plan if everything else fails.
By the way I didn't use Devilsaur Egg in my list as I played the deck before it became refined.
