This is kinda what they started doing by introducing classic pack rewards for brawl, spectator quests, rank 25-50 and the super cheap welcome bundle.
If you give away a ton of classic packs over time you massively help new and recent players without really giving all that much to those with full classic collections.
I agree the grind for classic packs is a bit unfair on new players now, who really need to be focus on completing a competitive deck or two. The gentle way to address is it is to just give out more free classic packs slightly faster than theyre doing right now. A massive change like making classic free or giving out a ridiculous amount of packs to new accounts is bound to piss off mid/long term players slightly, and is pretty horrible for recent players who’ve only just built up a meaningful classic collection.
I voted no. I did not spend my time and money so someone can get it later for free. There would have to be compensation for all players (full dust refund) and that is not gonna happen ever.
Considering that you get classic packs for free every now and then (brawls, quests), and considering also that blizzard will not let you buy old stuff with gold but only with real money, i think that you should either change your pills, or change your doctor.
I wouldn’t want Wild in general to be free, because building up my collection and crafting the cool cards I didn’t open back then is part of what I enjoy about this game. I honestly might not even play if all of that was just free.
Having just classic be free would actually be a bit of a problem for new players. When you’re new, having a big collection can be really overwhelming when making a deck. I remember back when I was new and terrible at this game. I had no clue what would really make a good deck, but having a small collection helped with that, as I didn’t feel too confused by all of the options. As I got better at the game, my collection also slowly grew. I understood what would make a good deck more and more. At this point with a decently sized collection, I generally know what cards I want to put in a new deck.
If anything, this topic kinda proves that many people who play video games do not understand the existence of non-zero sum games. The amount of people who see others gaining something, at no cost to them, as a loss is depressing. Not because Hearthstone matters overmuch, but because you know they carry that zero sum attitude to other concepts.
only classic set, but make it uncraftable like the basic set. we dont want new players disenchanting edwin or leeroy for.a.stupid epic from another set LoL
Why do people vote no? (I am just curious, is it because you already bought it and finished it, and don't want any new players?
Because if all of the olds contents become free, I'll ask for a full refund. Hundred of euros. And I won't be the only one. This is nonsense.
Why? You wouldn't be losing anything.
We would lose our investment. We bought a product which later had its value strippen away and was handed out for free. Imagine buying 100 packs today and tmrw finding out that all of the cards were given out for free. Nice way of losing money, isn't it?
It all depends on the time frame. Of course they could not just announce today that as of tomorrow stuff is free. A big change like this would have to be announced way in advance, maybe in combination with some sort of refund for players who bought stuff within a couple of month prior to the announcement.
How about the fact that I spent thousands on the classic set, I am 20k dust away from full golden classic set. Don’t you think I’ll be asking for a refund if every I paid for eventually becomes free. Same thing goes for my complete wild collection.

i voted no bc it would devalue my collection significantly.
Your collection has zero value at all. You cant sell them and you cant trade them. You have the cards or you dont have them. If other players have classic cards or not doesnt devalue anything.
OK, i give up. The Hearthstone-community is obviously so toxic that they would prefer see this game dying instead of make it playable for new players. And yes: it is quite unplayable if you start today and dont want to invest a shit load of money
Zero value ? And you think that an account with all the cards, tons of golden ones, plenty of unique card backs and all the hero skins has no value for resale ? That’s nonsense. Making all the older sets free would significantly devaluate the value of big accounts for sale.

You'd still have all of those things...
And everybody would have all those things I spent thousands to acquire for absolutely free! People like me would feel great! Also read post above

HS IS DYING!!!! lol
The game has been out for a good number of years. No one forced you to pick it up now. It was your choice that got you to this point.
Standard was made to make it easier for new players to play the game. You have plenty of decent cheap decks out there. It is more than enough.
Imagine having this shit attitude towards other things in life. You came late to something and you whine and demand that you want to skip the initial grind and effort to get closer to those who have been there for years.
Hopefully HS slaps a monthly sub fee to kick out the ungrateful trash

Considering that you are not allowed to sell your account at all, this is probably not as important as you think it is. If Blizzard ever decided to make the Classic set free, they won't change their mind for people who already violate their terms of service.
Well, theoretically you are not allowed to sell an account. If you want to take that into discussion: sure than its kind of true, but the account wont sell much cheaper If all accounts would have classic cards (im not not talking about "all" older sets)

Lol what? I don’t violate the terms of service. And what do you mean change their mind ? Making all the previous sets for free would be a terrible business decision, it’s YOU who needs to change their mind.

Because my money is then completely wasted as well as all the efforts it took me to farm 100k+ gold. I don’t mind if everything becomes free as long as I get a full refund for everything I paid for

How was your money wasted? You would have had the cards a lot longer than everyone else, and would have had years to play and practice with them, right?

No. Its not fair to players that paid or played alot to get these cards.
once again F2P should just be happy they can play this game for free, because of us P2P players. Dont get greedy..
