Why do people vote no? (I am just curious, is it because you already bought it and finished it, and don't want any new players?
i voted no bc it would devalue my collection significantly.
Your collection has zero value at all. You cant sell them and you cant trade them. You have the cards or you dont have them. If other players have classic cards or not doesnt devalue anything.
OK, i give up. The Hearthstone-community is obviously so toxic that they would prefer see this game dying instead of make it playable for new players. And yes: it is quite unplayable if you start today and dont want to invest a shit load of money
HS IS DYING!!!! lol
The game has been out for a good number of years. No one forced you to pick it up now. It was your choice that got you to this point.
Standard was made to make it easier for new players to play the game. You have plenty of decent cheap decks out there. It is more than enough.
Imagine having this shit attitude towards other things in life. You came late to something and you whine and demand that you want to skip the initial grind and effort to get closer to those who have been there for years.
Hopefully HS slaps a monthly sub fee to kick out the ungrateful trash
The shit attitude to allow others be part of the party instead of losing new players after some weeks/month because they realize they wont have any good decks without years of grinding or paying money? Lmao, Just create an account and try to build any deck. You will realize its quite impossible and losing all the time is not that funny. So they quit. Your comparison to "other things in life" is stupid, but you wont realize it, i guess
EDIT: I read through some of your older posts. Fascinating. You are such an asshole towards other people, cant belive you are old enough to even get a Job. Looks like you are 16 and HS is the only content of your life
I’m free to play and I don’t like the idea of just “giving” people entire sets. Part of the appeal of a card game is building your collection, and so while I would support heavy discounts on classic and rotated sets, along with more gold to buy them, the idea of just giving them away would ruin a big part of the experience.
If older cards were free, far more players would play wild, which is probably bad for blizzard in the long run. More wild players = less standard revenue. Unless I'm not understanding your original post correctly. So I don't think they would ever consider doing that.
I don't see a card collection as being the same thing as old mmo content. Also can you even play WOW without all the expacs being up to date for the new content? I'd be ok with them allowing old content to be purchased with gold.
MtG is stupidly expensive to get into as a new player, surely that means its on the way out and they should be giving cards away for free to remedy this.

That is demonstrably false. A quick google search determined that accounts similar to mine has prices around of 500€ or even more than that, which I'm almost positive is more than zero. I'm not going to sell it, but the value is certainly real.
Not wanting to see that price reduced to zero seems like a reasonable argument for being against the suggestion in the OP.
Going to be honest, I'm not reading 100~ responses before I write this comment so sorry if I repeat what anyone else said earlier.
Anyway, there's a couple of issues I have a couple of issues with the whole idea of making classic/older stuff free. The largest issue is that it invalidates earlier purchases for those who did buy packs or preorder stuff. This type of stuff tends to occur when games need to go F2P in order to survive. They face backlash and have to heavily compensate the players who did pay for the original product. Making stuff free also ruins a player's progression. I remember when I started I saw all the real strong legendaries such as Sylvanus and Ragnaros and wanted to work towards getting them. When I finally got around to getting them, it feels good to play with something you've worked so hard to get. I know this falls into the whole EA "pride and accomplishment" thing but I do feel like getting rewarded is important.
The only thing I do feel needs to become F2P is older adventures, not including the actual card rewards. What I mean by this is that if you created a new account, you literally cannot play the Naxx, BRM, LoE, Karazahn, KFT or KnC solo content unless you play money in the blizzard store. Some of my fondest memories in this game come from playing these single player adventures and it's such a shame that new players don't know they exist unless they check the store. For mobile players, I don't know how blizzard handles the store but if it is the same situation as in the desktop version, they might not even know the adventures exist. Players should be able to get the older adventures with gold and they still should be able to play the KnC and KFT expansions, even if they can't get any cards. It's such a waste in my opinion.

I don't have something witty about this deck, I just like it because Malygos is fun.

There are plenty of actions you can do with your property which is not allowed, which generates value for you. That does not mean it is a valid argument nor an argument a governing body should care for when adjusting its policies.
The difference between us long time players and new players is that we have been able pay for our goods over long time and split our cost. New players don't have that luxury and have to pay everything up front. Obviously that creates an artificial barrier to the game that we never had. And that is without even accounting for the fact that when we started there was only one set.
It is similar to how people who bought houses in the 60-70s got them very cheap compares to their salary, but now the housing prices compared to income is way higher. Now imagen not being able to pay those houses with a loan, but have to pay almost all upfront. It creates a barrier which should not be there for new consumers and makes everything stale.

You know this is against the Blizzard TOS and both you and the person you could potentially sell an account to are at risk of having the account terminated, right? You don't own your account, Blizzard does. Read the TOS.

The game is free to play, all cards are free to farm - you shouldn't even need to invest your time into buying too many classic cards as they give out the classic pack with every tavern brawl.
This game is viable as a free to play already if you put the time and effort into farming cards. It wouldn't be the same if you got a huge hand out of free cards, and people who already put in that effort would feel cheated that it was given out for free now.

Is it? Is it really? Because it sure is not as low barrier to entry as when I started. Not only that, but I am also at to stockpile gold after each expansion, because I only have to care about one set at a time. Meaning, my advantage compared to anyone newer than me just grows.

But you're not arguing with blizzard, you're arguing with players who can choose to ignore the ToS and sell their account.

You know that it is completely irrelevant to this discussion, right?
You said your account has value. There are two things wrong with that statement. #1 it's not your account, and #2 it doesn't have value as it is against the TOS to transfer an account.

All that's needed is for the Solo Modes to reward players with small bits of dust/gold or card(s).
New players can then grind for both exp and collection.
At the moment new players are forever wondering if its their skill or card quality holding them back- and they'll find out 2 expansions later when they've amassed enough resources and climbed through the trenches with garbage decks that half their collection will be rotating.
Blizzard is more interested in attracting and keeping whales

Small rewards for solo play would be good for some players, yeah, but it would be botted to hell, so it's a bad idea for Blizz.

Yes and lets get them all 9 golden heroes and 100.000 gold to start off with. That seems fair.
Got to love the Bernie bros rolling in here demanding free stuff. How about you grind for it just like the rest of us had to?
I support a big discount on old expansions, but not the classic set and not for free and not the whole thing.
