WILD IS CHEAPER TO PLAY DONT DO IT. standard will be suuper expensive in the long run unlike wild
I just want to emphasize this point: It takes a while to get a wild collection going, but if you - as is the case with the OP - have a rather extensive collection, wild is cheaper to maintain because fewer cards each set impact the wild meta.
Personally I also find the wild meta much more diverse than standard and so enjoy it a lot more, but that doesn't seem to be everyone's sentiment, but I would suggest giving it a try yourself.
PS: If you do end up deciding to disenchant anyway, remember to wait with disenchanting the Hall of Fame rotations till you've gotten the dust refund.
this is a good point of view....I'll think about it
Keep the good cards. Wild is fun once you have the cards.
I don't disagree, I just like to play the new cards as soon as they're available. I've played all of the old cards and enjoyed many of the older decks.
Each card I disenchant gets me closer to that next Legendary/Epic card that I'd like to try out.
I don't ever want to see Barnes again, I don't care how much fun playing the older cards is.
I probably won't want to see another DK Hero again either, or Odd/Even deck.
All of these factors, I could go on. But I don't think I need to. I have some old cards that I kept. Just for giggles.
The only time I'll play wild is if I'm trying out a new deck, and don't feel like playing against Casual, and want to just have a little fun.
Otherwise if I'm playing this game, I'm going to be trying for Rank 5, then Legend if I feel like it, in Standard.
I think as a new player with limited cards, Rank 5 on the Standard Ladder was always my goal, and build up my collection until I could get there.
I still keep my Golden cards, even commons. Just a preference.
Disenchanting is dumb. There are plenty of tavern brawls that allow the use of Wild cards when you need to build a deck. Even if you never play Wild mode, you would need them for this game mode to stay competitive. You never know when you'll need them.
I'm a new player and started HS in november so just before rastakhan expansion release. I chose to invest in wild, much much cheaper. As a new player, old gods cards or frozen throne cards are the same for me, i discovered them 4 months ago, so wild cards are as new as standard cards for me. I'm enjoying this game a lot by discovering new cards and decks. When you invest in a deck in wild, it will last forever. Each expansion will add to your deck one or 2 cards to improve it, contrary to standard mode where you will need to craft 10 new cards each expansion. Top tier wild deck are cheap : even warlock, even shaman, aluneth mage, jade druid, mech hunter, beast hunter, odd paladin, mechathun druid, all are under 7k dust. So you can craft a cheap deck that will allow you to easily reach each month rank 5 in wild to earn your golden epic. As a F2P player, it is very important to have this monthly reward.
However, if you are an old player, if you have played hearthstone for 3 years now, you have played grand tournament cards or ungoro cards for more than 2 years, you are bored of all these wild cards and don't want to see them anymore. You want to try some new cards. I don't think thinking about optimising the value of your collection by saving all your cards is the right thing to do. We play a game to have fun. If you keep all your wild cards and the game bores you because you can't craft any new deck, what's the point of playing if you don't have fun. Then dust every wild cards to craft the new standard decks.
I can see that you are a new player, so don't dust anything. Try wild and all the olds expansion (gnomes, old golds, gadgetzan, grand tournament, etc), you'll have a lot of fun. Don't listen to these standard fanatics, they played the game since 2015, they are bored of all the old stuff, that's why they disenchant everything. I'll do the same maybe in 1 or 2 years. But right now, i'm enjoying wild a lot.
I would disenchant them all. You don't have the biggest collection and Hearthstone is an expensive game. I have been playing since closed beta so I never disenchant anything, but if I was you I would just focus on Standard, unless you are willing to invest a ton of money into this game.
Disenchanting is dumb. There are plenty of tavern brawls that allow the use of Wild cards when you need to build a deck. Even if you never play Wild mode, you would need them for this game mode to stay competitive. You never know when you'll need them.
It's like having a garage full of junk that never gets used and just sits there in a pile. You could get rid of it and have enough dust to make some cards in April that you don't have. And just keep a few for giggles.
I always dust. Don't let them fool you. You will have tons of dust on Day one and get to play with all the new cards you want to play with.
Who is fooling the others? Some of the Wilddecks like Even Shaman or Evenlock are way cheaper than their standard counterparts.
Unless you do stupid day one hype crafts, like Gonk Druid in the early Rastakhan days, you earn enough gold and dust to keep the old cards and have several tier decks in both formats just by playing on a daily basis. If you sorely need some dust you can still start disenchanting the rotated non-meta cards.
disenchant is the worst deal in hs, you get 1/4 of the card value. I've only disenchanted 3 legendaries and regret 2 of them. being the "shit show" that some complain, it is way more fun and on the long run, more cheaper to play. eventually you will play it. disenchant just in last resort, if you really need a card, like zilliax or lich king when they came out
The only reason to play standard is if you want to place in Blizzard tournaments. Wild and standard are both fucking shitshows, the only difference is Wild has strong tools to deal with the bullshit and Standard does not. You can easily bring a high tier standard deck to wild and do well, and slowly add in wild cards as you go.
If blizzard made wild a viable alternative to those of us that haven't been there since the start then maybe it would be something more of us played but trying to catch up now is really expensive. It's fairly expensive just to have a full collection in standard every expansion.
I have recently started wild with a dragon combo priest but I cant see me playing it much more than that.
I always dust. Don't let them fool you. You will have tons of dust on Day one and get to play with all the new cards you want to play with.
What can be better?
I'm never playing wild. I'm sure of that. I only kept some of the Hall of Fame goodies. You can always play new cards in Wild anyhow if for some reason you feel like it.
I like playing new cards. I'm never playing Wild !
Please listen to this guy and don't get baited by these people who love wild. There is ZERO incentive to playing wild for your growth in the game. No ranked rewards, little tournament representation, and all the growth in wild comes from new expansions. It is for enjoyment, nostalgia, and a change of pace. You are too new to the game to really benefit from any of those things except pure enjoyment. Pretty conditional on if you have the resources to build a deck you enjoy as well.
One of my best friends in the world played Hearthstone right from the start. He spent a fair amount of money on it and always asked for battle.net gift cards for birthdays and such. So he wasn't anything like a free-to-play guy, even though he did have a budget for how much he was willing to spend.
But sadly, he just couldn't control his impulses to disenchant cards. Every time he saw a flavor-of-the-week deck he wanted to play, he'd burn huge chunks of his collection to get the legendaries he needed. He did this so often that eventually his collection was in worse shape than those of more careful free players.
It was no surprise, then, when he finally quit the game forever, not because of balance issues or boredom with the meta, but because he actually did want to participate in things like Tavern Brawls and Wild. He found he couldn't do that because all his powerful older cards were gone. He finally realized how much time (gold) and real money he had basically flushed down the toilet by dusting so much, and it was a very, very bad feeling.
It was that feeling of regret that made him quit and never look back. He now plays Magic Arena where dusting is impossible, and we both agree it's a much better fit for him.
Don't get into the dusting habit. It only leads to heartbreak.

im holding on to my Cards. Since i also started at Kobolds and had to do the catchup aswell.
i paid some good money on multiple sets even those which rotated in April Witchwood.
I disenchanted them at Witchwood and regret it. Because for me it is really simple what i enjoy.
Play Standart until it sickens me, swap to Wild until it sickens me, swap to Arena until im out of Gold then pay for Arena or close the Game.
pretty simple i think but i miss some old Wild Cards i disenchanted e.g Karazhan , Yogg Saron etc. So the next time i won´t do it because like some people said before i paid good money on those and only get 1/4 valvue back. What i instead do is simple wait a bit until i get all the new cards since on Day1 i mostly wanna experience 1-2 new Decks i created on my own thinkings what could work and still see all the Netdecks against me so i can decide later what im gonna craft / need or dont.
Up to you in the End but as an more Standard Playmode liking Player who thaught he would never play wild i since the catchup is too hard for people like us started with Kobolds. No i would not dust my Old ones again. Just be patient since u get mostly all new cards over time and think about like i already said about Day1-7 craft´s in the new meta.

never thought i would live to read "tavern brawl" and "competitive" in the same phrase... but hearthpwn users are just amazing!

Who knows they might introduce reprints on standard that would allow you to use your wild cards in standard, maybe.

If you really want to play standard instead of wild, keep 1 wild deck for the monthly reward when you struggle in standard, you take your tier 1 wild deck you reach rank 5 in 2h, free golden epic.
The cheapest and strongest decks are :
aluneth mage : https://twitter.com/neon31HS/status/1101585408666804225 6k dust
beast hunter : https://twitter.com/neon31HS/status/1102704256686194688 3k dust
even warlock : https://twitter.com/neon31HS/status/1100486321787817985 7k dust
even shaman : https://twitter.com/neon31HS/status/1100493085669289984 7k dust
The 2 even decks are cheaper than their standard counterparts and are so much stronger.

Wow
