Ever wondered why its only 83% and not 100%? I have, and now ive experienced one. I played otk pally vs a clone priest, unwinnable match and rightly so i lost the match. next i q into a warrior praying to god that its my garanteed matchup like priest had with me, except in my experience i never get that lucky of facing the best matchup, i always need to fight for my otk, its never free.
But guess what he was regular odd warrior with no quest. 83%WR YES i deserve this win after q into an unlikely matchup vs clone priest. But wait why is it 83% and not 100%? "pff bunch of noobs probably run it not knowing how it works", I thought.
BUT now i know why its not 100%. cause if your last FUCKING card is UTHER DK AND u keep rerolling the same Horsemen 3 times in a row AND they ooze your lifesteal weapon then u lose to fatigue damage AND thats why its 83% and not 100%.
Belongs in the salt thread? sure, but its an informative post so there u have it.
its actually my first time being this unlucky, and i though i had some unlucky shit in HS, but Uther last card, fighting fatigue and rerolling the same 3 horsemen, is a mindfuck. the only skill in this match was by my opponent that never oozed the 2x truesilver weapons and saved it for the lifesteal uther weapon. gg there. but my god the rest was just over the top, like 25 % to get the same horsemen 2 times in a row? seriously? after uther being my last card? its not rigged but my god i do understand now why some ppl say the game is rigged. i guess i need to go back and play odd rogue or even shaman in Wild, cause those decks arent broken at all, bozos
Can you link the replay? Not saying you misplayed, but I think it's impossible to lose that match as the OTK paladin without missplaying to a degree (even if it's a very minor degree). Idk, maybe you change my mind

If Uther is your last card you can absolutely lose. You have to hold your bounce minions the whole game, and then if they kill your weapon after Uther you can lose in fatigue
This is exactly why I made the switch to Holy Wrath Paly. The randomness of horsemen not going your way after 10+ minute games started to get to me. At least with Holy Wrath, the win condition is direct and guaranteed, so long as you're within lethal. Facing odd warrior, you need to get them at less than 50, and you have a very decent chance.

Combine getting Uther last with what the OP said about getting the same horseman over and over (I once rolled the same 1st horse 4 times in a row). When that happens, your game plan really goes to the gutter.
Ive lost this matchup a few times because uther was my bottom couple cards. I can't figure out all my hunter opponents always get rexxar on curve without tracking and i always hard mulgan for mine..
You were unlucky one game, but did you take into consideration all of the other times that you were lucky? If you’ve played exodia paly for more than 30 games and that’s the first time it was last card, then you’re lucky.
Odd warrior can beat Exodia Paladin with azalina if the paladin has drawn all of the combo pieces before turn 9, and then the warrior has to get luckier than the paladin with the uther roles. I’ve also pressured them but it’s harder to do.

Idk guys, I've played tons of OTK pally and I think despite all those things happening you should still win. The reason why I asked for the replay is to see how he got in that situation to the point he lost. What did he do with his other healing (shirvallah and kangor)? Did he optimize his card draw? That sort of thing.

Im not at home right now but i will try to post the replay when i get home.
Now one disclaimer tho. I wont be surprised if i did some mistakes cause i underestimated my opponent cause of the decks winrate against one another so im sure that i kinda dumped some cards cause i knew that when i get uther it would be smooth sailing. Sadly i wasnt counting on getting it last.
I remember my only missplay was i used potion with like 3 cards left in the deck and then used lyness which advanced fatigue but I honestly think those mistakes werent impactfull cause of the rerolls on same horsemen. I was so tilted about not getting uther that i just didn't care i used shrivalla for the heal i even used tekkal with like 25 health and basically healed back to 20 but i still lost. I mean u need to realize that i had 3 turns wasted in a row. I think i conceded with like 12 health. Fatigue was already at 5 even if i got the correct horsemen after it there wasn't a chance to live that long
Thanks for taking the time u watch it. Like ive said before, im sure there were some weird plays cause i was so cocky into thinking there was no chance i would lose the game cause of how garanteed it was. i never had uther as the last card, and never had the same horsemen rerolled twice when theres a 75% chance to get the right one. i mean if u look at it even with those mistake i dont think i couldve won with this low chance draws.
im running Sound the bells for many reasons. first Vicious syndicate says that the deck version with blessing of kings works better cause of how buffed lynessa turns into and u can smack opponents down before u get the exodia pieces. so i thought hey why not switch out blessing of kings for a bells cause not only works for lynessa but better yet it provides board clear with Pyromancer. it has been working wonders atm. i dont have Thalnos and running second timeout doestn get u anything, even the most played version of the deck only uses one timeout. the big missplay was potion at the end cause it advanced my fatigue by 2 turns cause of casting it once then another with lynessa, but then again i would have needed my horsemen to be right when i get the 50% but i couldnt even score the 75% chance roll so i believe i was doomed regardless.
The point of this thread is exactly showing why some unwinnable matchs in this case for odd warrior, arent 95% wr but 80% at the most, why pre nerf shudderwock had like 70%wr against Big Spell Mage and not 95-100%
I don't know why you kept Loot Hoarder in your mulligan. You want that card from CTA not play it from hand. Also you are playing against Odd Warrior, you don't need early game presence, it's not like Odd Warrior is going to smorc you down. By keeping loot hoarder you made your CTA weaker and kept a dead card in hand which could have been Uther (30% more likely to get Uther if you didn't keep loot hoarder).
First Equality was also unnecessary, Thekal + Shirvallah was better.
I am not denying that you got super unlucky and should have won that game, but you can't say you played flawlessly.
It happens here and there that your keycard is at the bottom of the deck. You play a deck that depends on RNG, so that's what you have to expect once in a while.
OTK pally isn't unwinnable against Clone Priest if you run Thekal. They're favored for sure but i've won a handful of them by stacking my life really high and they don't build a perfect spellstone (maly and velen). Thekal is kind of meh against aggro but it's so good against any deck that does burst damage because if they aren't pressuring you then you can get your health total to 50+ with good Kangor plays. It's situational but it's an out you might as well go for.
But yeah Exodia pally is kind of like that. It's a very finicky win condition which is why it needed a busted card like time out to be somewhat reliable. Having controlled a game to the point where it's time to win with my combo and then falling flat on my face is kind of fun, it is reminiscent of shudderwock. I've never managed to lose to any kind of odd warrior though. Perhaps you spent your resources a little too liberally because you thought it was a sure win? I've lost to big spell mages like that before, using removal or control tools for tempo because I thought i couldn't lose and then my combo comes too slow and i get spammed by water elementals.
I like running the Lynessa/Blessing of Kings package because you can just play the beatdown against a lot of decks by spamming Zola's Lynessa's.
Win rates are overall statistics though. If you know a bad matchup well then your win rate is actually higher than the average win rate you see on hsreplay. For example the control priest is greatly unfavored against odd quest warrior apparently but i've won that matchup more often than not by just hedging against their removal well and stealing nice targets like Direhorn with cabal shadow priest. If you control their armor, get an alex that does 15 damage, you can burn them before they burn you after they play their quest reward.

This is why u -always- keep uther in mulligan
This deck always has this problem, vs tempo/aggro it's even worse

Welcome to card games where it's literally less about the cards and more about where they are in your deck.
Get used to it
Hi i'm Tyler and I play hearthstone and watch anime.
Sometimes i make cards. I'd like to do that for a career one day if ever possible.
Ive lost this matchup a few times because uther was my bottom couple cards. I can't figure out all my hunter opponents always get rexxar on curve without tracking and i always hard mulgan for mine..

Brought a tear to my eye.
But still SALT.
The mistakes i could figure out:
Playing Sound the Bells isntead of a second Time Out/Potion of Heroism (Whats the point of this?)
Using the equalities Turn 13 and 16 against single threads too easily. You knew he does have mechs left with his 1 mana spell.
Other than that... maybe hitting face with the weapon Turn 11 was not what i have done, but he had Harrison in hand, so it's fine.
Always expect the unexpectable!
