The new mage legendary is better than Ragnaros, with the 1 mana 1/1 is easy to get full effect on curve (sometimes in turn 6 with coin) and the game don't become magestone with only mirrors of mages, in other words, don't break the game.
If a better card than Ragnaros don't break the game then Ragnaros don't will too and in comparison with cards like UI and hunter DK's is pathetic weak, if that insanely OP completely broken and out of control cards are allowed to be played uncheck and not nerfed in Standard why the fair, fine and correctly costed old Ragnaros need to be exiled in Wild forever?
except rag is a neutral minion that would be played by absolutely every deck ever.
Big no, have you even thought this through?
Aggro don't play Ragnaros, in control matchs Ragnaros have much less impact than DK's, the only archetype really affect and down are the midranges with Ragnaros one of your big guys.
A strong but fair neutral card, even if used in every deck, what is not the case with Ragnaros, is far from Bonemare/Patches/Creeper issue, is much better than completely busted and OP class cards like UI, I prefer x1.000 times play vs the old Ragnaros, a powerful but not broken card than this many games opponent play one single f...... OP card and win.
That was hard to read. But clearly a 12/12 8 dmg to an enemy for mana EVEN cheaper than rag is stupid as hell. And you can bounce back the 4/4 to rag again next turn. Blizz devs dont actually play games themselves, only design to make you spend money and craft broken stuff.
I am not saying that to mock you... but to demonstrate the logic you used here. Ragnaros the Firelord was a card that saw play because it was part of three cards that always got included if you had a mana spot in your deck and you thought 'I want a card here'.
A world where Ragnaros the Firelord is brought back, you'd have to also make the exact same argument and give the same treatment to not only that card... but also Azure Drake and Sylvanas Windrunner. That's why I think the first response of "have you thought this through" is very, very true. Because if you have ... I used the same logic you used but for all three cards.
Do you think all three of those cards should be brought back so EVERY class have the possibility to use them forever?
Azure really have the problem be used in every deck, but too many 5 drops sucks in the game, very few exceptions, and combine draw, spell power and dragon tag in a single card, way too good to that spot.
8 manas Ragnaros is a completely diferent history, it beyond the reach for aggro decks, have the random component to balance thing up and is far less versatile than prenerf Patches and Creeper, I really don't think is that problematic for need be exiled, it is a much better designed card than many, many Standard cards right now.
Dude people whined until they murdered Giggling Inventor, and she was only broken in Quest rogue. Otherwise she was just a strong anti agro tool. But people whined and they killed her.
You think Rag would be able to not suffer a similar fate? Honestly I actually agree with you but the whiner is strong with this game...There'd be screaming bloody murder until rag costs 10 mana and got his effect erased completely. I love Rag as a card, played him since I started playing shortly after Blackrock. But the player base just won't have it.
The new dragonhawk legendary was probably the best compromise they could come up with to bring Rag back but keep whining down to a minimum. Mostly because it is such a huge risk-reward factor: I mean, you're basically building your entire deck around this new legendary at this point. It's much tougher to pull off hence why people wouldn't mind the reward for meme players who want to try a mage hero power deck basically. But to bring back Rag straight up? Not gonna happen. Not when the modern player base cries murder at sludge belcher power level of cards like Giggling Inventor because she was broken in ONE deck (a problem more easily fixed by nerfing Sonya or any other of that deck's cards instead of the neutral, btw.).
Despite what people Rag is what really gives wild Big Priest a lot of its power, not Barnes. If you bring Rag back in a meta with powerful rez effects & spell-copying you can rest this joke of a highroll will also return to standard with renewed strength.
DO not worry ,Priest loses Shadow Essence and Servitude in the next expansion so Rag would be fine after rotation.
The same argument that Rag would be used in every deck is no different than Jan Alai will be used in every deck. It demonstrates nothing, even if Rag is Neutral most likely will be in every Mage deck after rotation so the statement here is :
Why Mages get to play Rag (auto include) while others cannot play it unless they roll Mage?
Azure Drake is another story, but Rag is great in Control/Midrange not so great in aggro/OTK will not be used in every deck that is for sure.
I guess the reason then would be that Mages can play 2 Rag s instead of 1.....guess what i love this design changes ...
Dude people whined until they murdered Giggling Inventor, and she was only broken in Quest rogue. Otherwise she was just a strong anti agro tool. But people whined and they killed her.
Had to stop you there because when you state a blatent falsehood you should be called out. Giggling was played in MANY aggro decks, I would suggest you do any amount of research before you embarrass yourself with divisive conjecture.

If you thought you knew what you think I know, then you'd know I knew you knew I know.
Hunters ran 6 cost cards before Rexxar , Savannah Highmane was a staple in most Hunter decks for some time. Stop throwing false statements just because you hate DK Rexxar.
If Ragnaros is too good then why Mage gets to play it ??? Was there a reason Rag should be in standard after it got rotated? Wasn't the purpose of rotating cards to never return?? Why bring them back in a form or other?? This is what i dislike the most.
I don't know if you guys actually played this game back then, but ragnaros was even used in some aggro (not hyper aggro) decks as a final push. It was THAT powerful.
The reason they moved Ragnaros and Sylvanas to hall of fame cause they will forever be the 1st choices of high end neutral legendaries everyone would be running. It is a business move, you think The Lich King would be played over Rag? Absolutely not. And there are 2 solutions to that:
1. Remove/Nerf Rag/Sylvanas
2. Create more powerful legendaries than Rag and Sylvanas ie broken AF legendaries.
Its all about business, their target is for people to craft as many legendaries as they can. More legendaries needed for decks = more packs and dust needed = more profit. Giving 2 legs for each class is another greedy business move and most of them are not even legendary worthy cards. Notice how almost every good deck needs like 4-5 legendaries now. I won't be surpised if they will decide to bring 3 legs for class each expansion soon.
So if Rag and Sylvanas were still in standard, no one would be crafting many other new legendaries.

Why u hav to be mad? is only card gaem.
"Correctly costed" unless Priest res him a dozen times....

Hes not OP, hes just never not good. We don't need another Lich King that you see in every non-aggro/odd ever.
Unpopular opinion: Rogue is OP
Ragnaros is correctly costed, Barnes don't.
this basically
Why u hav to be mad? is only card gaem.
Even when he was in the classic set he wasn’t played by every deck ever so no..
Yeah sure.
I already see those future threads were people complain about "Turn 8 Rag on curve... So much skill": please, we don't deserve this.

No, short answer is that Jan'alai, the Dragonhawk is the highest played win-rate card in odd mage, higher than Frost Lich Jaina. If Ragnaros the Firelord came back as a NEUTRAL minion, I believe he would break the game.
The solution is always the same:
Remove the Classic set and create rotating Core sets. Rag could be a part of every third Core set (or whatever)
Hunters ran 6 cost cards before Rexxar , Savannah Highmane was a staple in most Hunter decks for some time. Stop throwing false statements just because you hate DK Rexxar.
