The grind continues... Rank 3, 1 star with Deathrattle Hunter. 58% win rate.
To everyone that hit Legend this month already, how many games roughly are you playing to get there and did you just stick with the same deck since rank 5 or do you change?
I stuck mostly with the tempo mage. I did play deathrattle hunter at the start of the month. I had a Play Shaman cards quest so I switched to Shudderwock for a bit.
Deathrattle hunter is one of those decks that you can probably stick with because it doesn't have so many polarizing matchups. It's tough to climb with, say, quest rogue or Mecha'thun or something like that because there's so much aggro (between tempo mage, zoolock, and odd rogue). Most matchups with deathrattle hunter are at least kinda winnable. You can even snowball hard over a quest rogue if you're lucky.
Overall, I played about 110-120 games (at work right now, can't check the exact number). I stuck with tempo mage probably 75% of the games.

I have played a greedy secret hunter exclusively this season and after 89 games have a 68% winrate, which took me from rank 21 to 9 so far. I will have a week off later with nothing to do, so I might try and see how far I can go.

Thanks,
My only terrible matchups are Odd Rogue and any Shaman... Druids and Warlocks are roll overs so hopefully I keep on facing them on the climb. Hit rank 2, now so we're getting there slowly but surely.

How did your Tempo Mage do against Druids?
Surprisingly well, although I think a lot of it is because of luck. If you can Counterspell literally anything (except that pesky coin), you should be able to steam roll them. If you have the option, it's almost always better to play the Counterspell before playing Explosive Runes.
I did face a lot of druids and warlocks in the climb, as well as some odd rogues. You can get lucky against odd rogue with your hunter, but yeah it's definitely a tough matchup. Just keep on going! The end is in sight!

I just reached Legend for the very first time, but did so while playing in Wild EU (don't know if that counts lol). I used a combination of Renolock, Odd Pala and Odd Rogue starting from Rank 12.. Jesus Christ Rank 1 - Legend was a nightmare.
With the meta settling and slowing down, control and combo decks should be better than midrange or aggro for laddering, so it makes sense DeathHunter isn't performing as well. I'd suggest Maly/Togg Druid rather than Odd Warrior however, performs better in general, and matches last less on average.
I've been thoroughly impressed (and killed a lot) by this Priest deck: https://www.hearthstonetopdecks.com/decks/asmodais-savjz-69-legend-big-priest-boomsday/ and thinking about crafting it. Has a slow start but multiple win conditions and a lot of resilience, if you don't get steamrolled by a zoo deck in the first 4 turns it's pretty hard to lose.

Thanks, I'd have 2 legendaries to craft for either deck but I do have the dust for it.
The Priest deck looks insane and I saw it hit rank 1 Legend... I might do watch a few videos on how to play it and give it a blast!
After reaching Legend in April, I've done it again!
I've played Deathrattle Hunter until Rank 2 3 stars and wanted to play something else after getting my Hunter golden. So I went with my ol' reliable Odd Rogue, also to grind out some wins for the golden portrait. Went 8-0 and and got my second Legend EZ PEZ. I was lucky enough to not run into any Odd Warriors during my win streak.

Congratulations... I've never had any luck with Odd Rogue, I don't think i'm playing it well enough.
After my long grind with midrange shaman, I got stuck at the front end of rank 2, but in the process, got my golden shammy. So I decided to try something new. Six games later, with only a single loss, I hit legend with secret hunter! Quickest grind ever, must have taken like half an hour to get from rank 2 5 stars to legend.
Mossy is amazing. Handles aggro and control beautifully.

You just have to know what you're up against and tailor your gameplan according to your opponent's deck. Eg. Not to overextend, knowing when to go for board control or go face. Small nuances can make all the difference.
Well I made it to 2 stars into Rank 2 which is the highest I've ever been. Not sure if I'll get much further this season but I'm hopeful for next season!
Finally made it last night and hit legend for the first time ! 105 games - 61% winrate. from rank 5 to 3 with Odd Rogue, then Secret Subject 9 Hunter from 3 to 1 and Taunt Druid all rank 1 to legend (6-1). Now im going to see how high i can climb in Legend ranks until end of season.

After two years of playing in the Hartstone I finally took the legendary rank. It was difficult - two series of defeats from the 1st rank to the 5th, but I managed it. If anyone is interested, - played on the DeathrattleHunter (~55% WR) until the 2nd, then on the MalyDruid (67%).
I felt that the druid was the strongest and relatively stable class for now.

For the first time I got to legend in Wild and Standard in the same season. :)
40-25 with Cube Hunter and 12-2 with Odd Warrior.
Thanks!

I've been stuck between rank 3 and 2 moving up and down for the past week. Absolutely infuriating.
Moving from Deathrattle Hunter to Odd Warrior to see if that can help me past this hurdle.
