jokes aside I completely agree. I've seen a lot of different decks and for the first time it feels like all classes has some competitive deck. Not only that, each class seems to have more than 1 functional deck which is awesome.
Don't let the Salty Dogs get to you, they are just frustrated bc of their obsession with reaching legend.
I have been having a blast playing a lot of different opponent's decks right now with a large variety of new ways to play. The expansion is a huge success in the possibilities in deck building it opened up in standard. But....
Calling it a meta is too soon. Let it settle and hopefully I'll keep running into more of the same. I always wonder how long after the expansion it will take for the same 3 or 4 decks to be 85% of my opponents.
When I decided to pre order I had high hopes it would be something like when Ungoro launched.. However it's far from that experience..
Cubelock, aggro paladin and face hunter is over 50% of all my games sadly and then we still got to many clown fiesta highroll and rng dependant games.. Is it even fun to play anymore? sure some games are fun however not even close to how I felt last year.. It's gonna be a short ride this time around if nothing changes in the comming weeks.
Wait...control beats aggro?? Have you even played the game in the last 3 years, including now? Aggro has had and continues to have the upper hand on control for a long time now. In most games and in past years of HS, when you boardclear an aggro deck once or even twice, then it's game over and control wins. But not in Hearthstone. WAY WAY too easy to refill the board these days. Hence control loses to aggro most of the time in HS.
You're joking? Right? If that was the case then half the meta would be oppressed after 1-2 defiles or hellfires, the entire control mage setup, and a few duskbreakers. That would suck, a lot. Faster decks (not just aggro) have to have refill or else control decks would dominate and as fun as that sounds, it would not be fun plus the fact that combo (shudderwock) would be unbeatable and aggro would be unplayable because of the hardcore control.
This community is too salty. Can't enjoy anything lol..
Myself, I really enjoy this meta, there are so many decks to play and ideas to craft even if its not for rank. Everyone wants to get to legend asap so we see so much aggro and cube or spiteful type decks in the higher ranks. But the majority of players that aren't in the top 5-10% .. are creative and enjoy playing other things.
I've made over 12 decks that are new! I am just having fun trying out new things and testing different synergies and combinations.
Like all TCG, there will be 3-5 decks that rule em all. And of those 3-5, its a rock/paper/scissors. So for anyone to think Hearthstone will have 8-15 decks in tier 1 is ridiculous.
Just have fun and appreciate the new deck types and as the OP said, old basic/classic cards finally seeing play again (I'm looking at you Ironbeak Owl)!
Lads play Hadronox Druid or more Quest Warrior and u get your diversity. Both Decks are lit and under the radar.
As for now Cubelock, Odd Pally & Spiteful are T1. T2 is full of decks that are still unrefined.
Meta just started. Once things settle down you will regret what you are saying as we never really had a cool meta except old gods and league of explorers
I'm happy to see someone with enthusiasm, it is really refreshing, and made me smile. I'm not a competitive player, but I try to make my own decks just to see what works, especially at the start of a new expansion. I was disheartened when I faced all the Shudder Shamans on release day, that animation goes on and on and nothing you can do about it. But since then I have had tried more decks and have had a better experience. We will see what the coming weeks bring.
I'll list a few decks for each class that I've tried and comment whether I liked them and such. If you want my personal decks, just reply here or DM me, I might have posted it already, and if not, I can fairly quickly. Just look for the most recent decks on my profile.
Druid: Hand Druid seems fun, I didn't open any of the epic wisp cards so I subbed in a card but I liked the playstyle and the abundance of cards that take advantage of your hand size in a class I always thought had a little too much draw
Hunter: Odd Hunter is fast and fun, gets countered by decks with significant healing/armor but it's an easy deck to play. I haven't tried and Quest Hunter decks yet.
Mage: Odd Tempo (my own list) is fun but may not be top tier as I made it. Odd Elementals seemed to work out okay, I didn't care for the slower play style though. Crow Mage (Trump's list) is probably my favorite Mage deck so far.
Paladin: Both Even and Odd Paladin are fun and competitive, but I (like many people) prefer Odd Paladin for the upgraded hero power. I've done a little testing, but nothing outside those decks, I hope to get the cards for a Secret Paladin soon.
Priest: I honestly hate priest so I haven't played it but for a quest and I just copied the Shadowreaper's Revenge pre-built list and won my two games. The class got a few decent cards, but I haven't found the class appealing since Gadgetzan.
Rogue: Tempo Rogue is back! I liked the deck after it became unpopular after Patches got nerfed and I like it even more now that we have Hench-Clan Thug with us to power through the mid game. I also was able to optimize a different style of tempo Rogue I have been working on since the last two months of Kobolds and Catacombs. I found use for the new WANTED! spell (yes what many streamers though was one of the worst cards to be printed this expansion) Because it's a Coin that comes with a little removal which is WAY better than a Counterfeit Coin outside of a Miracle deck. I have yet to try it in a Malygos deck, but I have a list ready.
Shaman: I tried my own version of the Shudderwock deck with a couple Kobold Apprentice in it for a C'Thun type effect and I left it alone.
Warlock: Ohhh boy, I've been playing a lot of Warlock actually. I tried just about everything too: Odd Zoo, Odd Handlock, Even Zoo, Even Handlock, and even a Glinda Zoo with Wisp and Snowflipper Penguin. I have to say Even Handlock (my list) works out way better than I thought it would, and Glinda is super fun. Odd Handlock and Even Zoo don't seem to work, mostly because Zoo needs one cost minions and Handlock needs Mountain Giant, Twilight Drake and the taunt givers like Sunfury Protector.
Warrior: I played Baku Quest without Phantom Militia (hadn't opened any then) and I liked it, but I prefer a more classic control style deck when I play Warrior so I ended up making my own list and I enjoyed it. It beat both Odd Hunter and Odd Paladin, so I reccomend trying Control Warrior if you struggle against those decks. I also made a really effective Rush Warrior deck with a small Rush package, a few weapons, Hench-Clan Thug, and Grave Shambler. It worked out considerably better than I thought it would and I recommend trying it out yourself. I was able to beat Tempo Rogue, even after a turn one coined-out Keleseth and also a more controlling Priest Dragon deck.
Such diversity in the first week of expansion, after a rotation happened. wow, what a surprise! Wait 2 weeks and there will be only even-odd palas, cubelocks and temporogues left. Maybe occasional spiteful decks here and there.

Ummm, what? I'm asking, because judging from your comment, you're saying, that decks like Controllock and Cubelock, that are 70-30 and 65-35 favred against top aggro decks actually lose vs those aggro decks all the time.
Also, judging from your comment, you were probably mistaking aggressive midrange decks with aggro decks, as those were the ones that usually beat control on a regular basis (with the exception of Aggro Shaman and Pirate Warrior, but that was due to poorly desinged pirate package that gave those decks a much better start).
Currently Cubelock is suffocating design - now it's just a chaotice mess of some netdecking and homebrewing, but in a few weeks we'll have Cube as the top deck once again, as there are no reliable midrange decks atm. I'm really hoping for Tempo Warrior to become one, but time will tell.
I consider this to be one of the worst expansions, within hours it was nothing but aggro pallys or cube locks, with random decks sprinkled in. I hate playing aggro because it's about as fun as watching paint dry, and I'm no good with cube lock. It took me a couple days to start my count down until the next expansion.
I agree I see of looot of different things. Very often I'm surprised by what the opponent plays. I see a Paladin and I'm like "oh probably Baku" and then no, neither Baku or Genn. I've started to see Odd Rogues yesterday and it was a surprise. I even saw quite a few Even Mages, some Baku non-quest Warrior... Anyway, lots of things, that's pretty cool. It feels way more diverse than the early days of previous expansions, and I feel like there's still a lot of undiscovered decks and everything I try seems at a decent powerlevel compared to other decks (since yesterday I play Elemental Shaman and I have a very good winrate with it around 500-1000 legend).
Two things : I'm disappointed that so many people are still playing Cubelock. I mean waw man there's so many possibilities, how can you play the exact same deck everyone was already playing for 4 months ? It's beyond me, and it's not like the deck is way OP, I've been destroying it with Hadronox Druid and Elemental Shaman ahah. People have absolutely 0 imagination and play this until they can see what deck is 53% winrate when every other deck is only at 50% to spam this deck like tards. Whatever, keep coming at me giving me free ranks and boring games...
Second thing Baku aggro decks. I feel like they are sooo overhyped right now. They are good at hunting unrefined combo/control decks with their face plan but that's it. They seem so weak to me. Odd hunter in particular is such a shitty deck I do't understand why people play this. Odd rogue the same, it's sooo bad it amazes me that people find these deck either strong or interesting. Baku Paladin is the only one that seem kind of strong but it loses so hard to any good control deck ; it loses very hard even to midrange decks if you don't draw level up.
I think a lot of decks have potential (Control Warrior, Midrange Shaman, Hadronox Druid) but people seem to only like Baku retarded face decks xD so sad. Hopefully I still find a lot of people trying new things but in a week or two ? We'll see.

Why u hav to be mad? is only card gaem.
I only see odd paladin, cubelock and face hunter
Dont see much diversity, cube lock and 2 different builds of aggro pally :D

I clicked on this assuming it was a joke topic. About %90 of my games the last few days have been against odd Paladins.
Nope, if this is what the next 4 months is going to be like, and I think I'm going to stop playing HS, and invest into other card games instead.

This space is intentionally blank.

I've no clue what I'm doing...

Hey. Hey. Do you wanna buy a funnel cake?
Not sure it is all that diverse...
Even then, i think the meta is still too polarised, and i really hate it when matchups can so easily decide the game outcome.
It feels like the player is bound to a double layer of RNG: card draw, inherent to the game; and matchup, inherent to meta design.
One is inevitable, but what about the second?
Dunno, maybe a tech sub-deck that you can discover at the start of the game could be a solution...
