Not that I see it get played much right now, but Eater of Secrets is rotating to Wild on Thursday. Making Flare the only tech card in Standard to remove enemy secrets. So far, we only have Rat Trap as a new secret, Bellringer Sentry and Arcane Keysmith are new cards with secret interactions for Pally and Mage.
Mage is the biggest secrets using class at the moment, and Ice Block is going to the HoF. However, you could argue that this is the smallest loss for Secret Mage as they are losing Kabal Lackey, Medivh's Valet, and Kabal Crystal Runner, all three of which I personally have seen a lot more of in Secret Mage decks than Ice Block.
To get to the point, do you feel like there should be some sort of secret removal option available to all classes in Standard? Does it depend on how dominant a secret deck is? I feel like Eater was made specifically to take down Ice Block and to combat Secret Paladin decks. So with Eater and Ice Block both out of Standard perhaps they will wait to see if they need a new secret counter in Standard.
According to Metastats.net Secret Mage is the third best deck through Rank 6, but drops off quite a bit through 5 to Legend. Guessing the difference is higher level players playing around them more, or perhaps teching in an Eater just in case. This makes me doubt that we'll see a new Secret removal tech minion on tomorrow's stream, but what do you all think?
Well, hunter does have flare, and eater of secrets doesn't see much play. Useful, sure, but I don't see many decks running it, as it counters only a small amount of specific decks.

Those kind of tech cards should be in the Classic set and neutral (on top of those that are specific to certain classes), but they also need to be much better than Eater of Secrets in terms of card design.
Flare is the perfect idea of what a tech card should be: it does its job but where it's not needed can be always cycled a bit.
I never really liked tech cards such as secret or weapon removal, just because it feels so bad when you play against a class without secrets or weapons - adding weapons for all classes was a step in the right direction. Would be nice if every class had access to secrets, but I also realise that it is very unrealistic and is not going to happen.
I tech flare in my spell Hunter precisely because secret mage can be super annoying, not just ice block but counterspell and ice barrier are annoying in their own rights. I would deff appreciate a neutral secret card but I'd like it maybe weaker (either stat or effect wise) so it's cost could warrant it. Hell even a 1/1 for 2 with eater of secrets effect copypastad would satisfy me.

Hi i'm Tyler and I play hearthstone and watch anime.
Sometimes i make cards. I'd like to do that for a career one day if ever possible.
Pretty sure they will add a secret counter like they did with Eater of Secrets when Kezan Mystic rotated out of standard.
I would think so, but perhaps they’ll wait to see if Secrets are a problem first. Hopefully if they feel the need for Secret removal they add it to the classic set like Lightspoon said so they can avoid having to add another card like that every two years.
They went with the decision for an immediate, and ultimately much better, replacement for Eater of Secrets. One more mana for the same effect and +2/+2 to stats. But lose the buff effect that Eater has.

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?

Flare is useless anyways because it gets countered by Counterspell.
I tried having fun once. It was awful.

I guessed wrong! Chief Inspector
