We all remember the good old days of Control Warrior when we still had Justicar Trueheart, and we could stall out the match until (A) your opponent ran out of resources or (B) you chipped him down enough to kill him. However, the last couple expansion (Starting with Un'Goro) have completely crushed the very thought of Control Warrior. To compensate, we got Pirate Warrior, which dominated the meta, at least until the Fiery War Axe nerf. That kind of pushed Warrior over the edge and you really don't see much of, if any, control or even aggro warrior anymore. All other classes can out-tempo it, and Mage and Druid can both generate more armour (more efficiently as well) than Warrior. Yes, there has been quite a lot of success with the new pirate warrior, but it's still a tier 3 deck. The closest thing we have seen to the Control Warrior of old is Brian Kibler's Geosculptor Yip deck. So here's the question I propose to you: do you think that control warrior will ever be back? Or do you think that Warrior is just completely doomed, and can never see the face of the meta ever again?
If warrior ever gets a viable 2 cost weapon then it'll probably see the light of day again (at least in terms of control).

Control Warrior isn't exactly bad, it's just not fit for the current meta. You either face insurmountable scaling decks like Jade Druid, get bursted down by a infinite combo, get your deck destroyed by Rin or you are dead by turn 4. Coming the rotation, a LOT of current meta decks simply die off or become much, much weaker / slower. CW strives in that environment and all they need is an early game card or two to be back at viability again.
Control Warrior got a lot of useful tools in the past 3 expansions which will not rotate out this Spring, which is a good sign for the archetype to become viable while other classes / decks will lose lots of strong tools.
Every class will become viable again at some point. Once Warrior rises, another class will go to the dumpster as expected.
It will likely be weak for a few more expansions. control mage beats it purely because of deathknight, priest can just Voidform it to death, though Raza rotating will change that. Warlock will be an issue with Rin, the First Disciple and the deathknight battlecry and hero power will eventually wear warrior down without justicar. Gemstudded Golem, Bladed Gauntlet and Drywhisker Armorer are all decent cards, but I don't think they make enough of a difference now. Reckless Flurry is interesting with a Shield Block combo, for a 5 mana, draw a card deal 5 to all minions or with drywhisker, but that seems like kinda a waste of huge armor gain most of the time. In wild it's okay in a control/nzoth variant, but that's about it.
Nah control mage cant never beat a know how to play CW with one deadman hand mate. Just dont play anything so he cant have more water elemental and remove all his stuff with your zillion removal, and watch him die in fatigue becos you have 10 card more with deadman hand and zillion armor lolz.
The problem with CW is now very weak early game with wnaxe gone, and weaker late game vs Warlock , Priest, Druid deck. The class dont have any explosive turn or unfair combo , and most important thing for a control deck, a clear win condition either. But when the rotation come, at least no more Jade Druid and Priest, and if team5 print some good early game card and a better win condition for the deck, then CW will be Very strong, mark my words.

I still to this day have never understood how changing War Axe to 3 mana literally ruined Warrior. I get that it affected the best possible opener, but beyond that ...
For me to accept that the War Axe nerf "killed" the class, I would have to believe that you could not win a game without having War Axe in hand on T2 ... and I never saw that as the case, neither when playing the decks, or when playing against them.
And please .. save the "Git Gud or lern 2 play" responses ... I know the nerf weakened the class ... I just don't believe it killed it.

OP, just wait for the next rotation. I'm extremely optimistic about warrior, because:
1) Like people said, there are a lot of good cards introduced for that card in the last 3 expansions (they just didn't make the cut) 2) Most importantly - the next rotation is around the corner. Let me remind you, that this will not only make most of the current well-known decks weaker, but it will also bring a lot of new power house cards to the table. This happens in every first expansion of a certain hs year and this will be the case in 2 months from now. Just be patient, warrior will not be forgotten.

Winaxe make you favourable vs aggro, only good matchup for the deck. Heck even in its heyday, having waraxe turn 2 and deathbite turn 4 is not going to win you games for certain. The class only have waraxe turn 2 as good play, these day you cant expect to past the 2 first turn vs aggro
If the card gods are right well never see again a t1 hardtrier fatige armor CW. It was one of the most unfair and boring decks in the game. Another thing is a evolution of it , a variation of mission warrior deck or something that requieres at least a few skill and not only armor up! armor up! and 2 i kill the game with a early weapon if you play few minions and with brawl if you play some...At leat mission warrior has some dinamics, and a decent win objetive...

while its not nearly as impactful on the full game like Keleseth, its a similar thing. getting to kill a 2 and 3 drop for 2 mana swings the game heavily in your favor, and like having keleseth in hand turn 2, your winrate overall is increased by a large percentage. its possible to win without it, but you are at a massive disadvantage against aggro.
I think that with next rotation a somewhat control warrior could make a comeback, but we need to know new cards to say so.
However Rin could be very problematic against the deck so silence will be necessary. On the other end Warlock could even start using dark pact on Rin... Sooo maybe CW could work but not against warlock xD
The light will burn him! Because of the way HS works, it probably will.
But I do have some concerns. A lot of decks may still do "warrior things" better than warrior: -Rogue will probably still be the better tempo deck. -Paladin will be the better hyper aggo deck, especially with the rotation of the Pirates. -Warlock is probably the better control deck. (Voidlord>basically anything the warrior has). -I think Druid legitimately competes for the better armor deck. -It still has a bottom tier Death Knight.
There are some niches for Warrior though. -With Jade gone, DMH Fatigue is more intriguing. -With Barnes gone, Recruit is an interesting "cheat big things deck". -With Raza gone, Taunt Warrior becomes a more attractive "inevitable burn" strategy.
No. Even though it had one of the top meta decks mere months ago, there is absolutely 0% chance that warrior will ever have a T1 or T2 deck again. Five years from now, nobody will even know about the class and nobody will be even playing it in casual. No expansion will cause any improvements or changes whatsoever.
All I'm going to say is that we need to remember when Priest was the bastard child of Hearthstone and was so, so terrible that OTK Inner Fire combo was literally the only viable build it had. And it was bad. Because Priest had too little removal in that era.
And now they're monsters.
So.. yeah, the fall of Warrior after Pirates seeing their tide go out inspires little sympathy. But it's also cyclical, like so many other things. Warriors will be back. And with some of the set support they've gotten recently, they could be seriously scary enemies after the Year of the Mammoth.

Give him a great 10 drop deathrattle minion. Heck, even legendary. And Big Warrior becomes very strong. 1 card away really.

It got a ton of really good control cards this expansion, Drywhisker Armorer, Reckless Flurry, and Unidentified Shield are all a pretty good base, and Geosculptor Yip is a really good threat for the deck.
