I've been slogging away at this months ladder to try and get to legend for the first time.
I've reached a point where the highest I've gotten to is 3, but then due to bad luck/plays/draws etc I've dropped back down to 5.
I've literally got every deck built that is in the current meta, but I can't seem to find one that can consistently win. If I play a deck that is good against control, I seem to get non stop aggro decks. When I switch to a good deck to counter aggro, it then becomes control/slow games that they aren't good against.
The deck I had the most success with was Spiteful Summoner, but that hasn't really been doing it for me atm.
I know you're supposed to "beat the meta" to get to legend, but I'm at a blank at how to do it. I know it's just a mental thing, but I swear every time I change to try and beat the meta, the meta I'm coming up against changes to something different.
Honestly, as someone who did this for the first time last month there's only one true piece of advice: Keep at it. If you can get to rank 4 (or rank 3, in your case), you can definitely make it to legend, given enough games.

This is not true. Yes you should play a solid meta deck to climb but if you climbed to a high rank with a deck you're good with stick to that deck. You will find favored and unfavored matchups regardless.
Also this is just me complaining.. but why is it 5 games in a row they always have Kelseth in their deck first hand. Whenever I try running Kelseth deck, I don't see him till the last 3rd of the deck -_-
Kazakus priest , tempo rogue , cubelock .if you face a lot of priest switch to jade druid.
Best deck against tempo rogue?
Going insane atm. I'am at Rank 4 for 5 days and 91 games now. Never went back to Rank 5 or reached Rank 3 this season. I win a game and lose the next. It's driving me insane.

Best deck against tempo rogue is aggro druid. It has golakka crawler and has powerful early game.Aggro druid also strong against aggro paladin but horrible against cube because of hellfire and defile.
Find the type of deck you are good at i.e. aggro, midrange, control.
Select two decks you actually know how to play and alternate between those.
Makes sure you are rank 5 mid season like you are now.
Climb slowly i.e. set goals per day whether it is rank or stars achieved.
Take it slow. Doesn't matter if you need to rope. Take your time.
Take breaks regularly to loosen your mind and consume sugar (fruits are recommended over candy for a steady flow).

Don't try to beat the meta. You'll go mad trying to do so, since you'll inevitably queue into whatever decks you're not metagaming against. Don't ever tech for the same reason, unless whatever your list was using was already teched, e.g. your Hunter list had two Golakka Crawlers.
If your sole interest is to get Legend, then figure out what the best aggro deck is in the format, get as good as you can be with it, then just grind. Grind a LOT. You're in a good spot being rank 5+ relatively early in the month, so you can build from there.
The main reason you want to play an Aggro deck is because of the concept of Free Wins. If you're playing against an aggro deck, you can keep up because you have early drops too. If you're playing against a control deck, they can draw a hand of trash and you can sometimes just kill them on turn 5 before they do anything meaningful. If you're playing with a control or combo deck, all your games will develop into full games because you will take some time to get going, so you won't ever get the "opponent has nothing" games.
The secondary reason to play an Aggro deck is because games are quick. The quicker your games, the more games you can play, the more efficient your grinding is.
[Edit: Also, make sure you're playing to win. Figuring out good trades is relatively easy, but make sure that you can actually still win if you make the obvious play. Sometimes going face is right even when it looks dumb.]
If you lose 3 games in a row, take a break. Not "Play another deck", not "Play arena", not "watch Youtube". Put whatever you're playing on down and go do something else unrelated to gaming. Also stop whenever you climb a full rank. The reason for this is you'll get tired (or tilted, in the case of losing games) and make mistakes, and there's no reason to let that happen when you have enough time in the month to stay refreshed. If you don't do this, you might just lose more time by having to play games to recover stars.
If you have anything in your life that you feel you need to do on any conscious or unconscious level, as small as sending an email or as large as losing weight, then do it instead of grinding. Otherwise you'll get distracted, or you might also get Legend and then go "Oh yeah, but I didn't manage to do x/y/z, so it's meaningless". Nullifying the achievement you're going for is really bad for your mental health, so prioritise other stuff first.
Lastly, don't forget to screenshot like crazy when you make it. Because you'll want to hold onto that shot for a very, VERY long time.

As others have said, just keep at it, and you MAY get it at SOME POINT. All it takes if for you to queue up on the right day with the right deck and play at the right time to get there. However, just because you can hit 3 doesnt mean you can hit legend just by brute forcing it.
I started hitting rank 4/3 allll the way back in GvG. There was one season about a year ago where i hit rank 3 in the first 3 days of ladder. I ended up finishing at rank 2 after 600+ games that season. It took me 2+ years of on and off playing to achieve legend, and the first time i did it, i was playing casually while taking bathroom breaks at work. Took me about 1.5 weeks to hit legend playing around 7 games a day. I probably had a 65% (or higher) winrate to legend that season.
Why the sudden increase in efficiency? Mind set. I was having fun and playing to the best of my ability every time i logged in. When i lost, i didnt care. It didnt affect me. Before, whenever i would hit rank 4 or 3 or 2 i would think i was the best player ever. This caused me to get tilted and blame rng.. and i mean REALLY tilted. One time i tilted from rank 3 to rank 13 in one sitting before there were ranked floors... Now that i hit legend that one time, its no longer a lingering issue and legend rank just becomes another ranked floor that you hit every season.
The single most important thing is mind set. easily. The next most important thing is recognize meta trends. Once you hit rank 2/1, everyone tends to play 1-2 decks to try to get to legend. Pick a deck that counters them and/or tech your existing deck to beat them.
I've also reached rank 5 recently, but this last bit from 5 to legend will definitely be the most difficult. I've analyzed what some people do to get from rank 5 to legend and noticed getting stars is significantly slower at this point. It is mostly done with Raza priest and takes about 25 hours of playing time in general.
The problem is that I do not want to craft Raza priest myself. I will try it with some fast deck first and see what happens after 100 games (100 games at 5 mins = about 8 hours). I should be almost at level 3 by then, otherwise I will switch to another deck.

i can tell you what will happen with fast decks.Game will match you against cubelock.
Never stop if you're on a winstreak. That's bad juju. If you lose 3 in a row, take a break and come back once you get your luck turned on. Good luck on getting legend, and may the force be with you.
well my advice is play the fast deck (temporouge ,aggro pala) because i reach legend last two seasons with it you can win(or lose) at turn 7,8 or early and keep playing if you keep the winrate above 60% you wil reach legend in no time and one more thing is when you on a losestreak(4 or more) stop playing comeback tommrow ,good luck
Sadly but this is the truth at how the game works. Hearthstone is rarely based on skill but rather based on how much time you play it, eventually you will win; by design.

One word: PRIEST
then u could tech in cards like golakka or tar if ur facing a lot of aggro etc.

So far no cubelock, but about 50% Raza priests.
