just layed down Explosive Runes before enemy played Argent Squire. He got 5 dmg face. I didnt expectet that. Of course 1 dmg would be enough to get rid of a divine shield, but the card text says deal 6 dmg to it. So after dealing 6 dmg to a divine shield minion there is no excess. That would be the logic i would follow when reading the card text. Whats your opinion on this?

I completely agree and was also very surprised when it didn't work like this.
The spell deals however much damage to the minion is necessary to destroy the minion and sends the excess to face. If the minion needs 1 damage to be destroyed, 5 goes face. If it needs 4 to be destroyed, 2 to face.
Then divine shield does its thing to protect the minion.
Hehehe, now seriously, it shouldn't work like that. Dealing damage to the divine shield of a minion equal to it's life and then the excess damage to the face doesn't make too much sense.

It’s simple if not super intuitive.
It's not "super intuitive", and I'm pretty sure you wouldn't have never guessed how it currently works without testing.
It has to be a bug or terrible card design. You can deal a rediculous number of damage (some Lorewalker Cho, priest shenanigans) in the millions and it still only breaks the divine shield. For how powerful the secret is to begin with, it should at least be countered by divine shield.
Whatever your feelings on the divine shield interaction, it is far worse if you ever go to negative health before the secret goes off (e.g. get Sniped first): my minion was at -1 health and the rune did 7(!) damage to my face.
Still, it is very clear how it is coded thanks to these interactions: it does (6 - minion health) damage to your face.
I totally agree that the player should take 0 damage. It's the same logic of wrath without fandral, the whole damage is used to deny the divine shield, since all the damage is given in a single moment.
Furthermore, if this is not a bug, then the explosive rune should give damage 3 times: 1st remove the divine shield, 2nd kill the minion, 3rd any excess to the face. However, I still think 0 damage should be given to the player haha
I'm curious what would happen if you played minion with divine shield into Explosive Runes with more than 1 health.
Because I think that Explosive Runes counts the amount of health a minion has and then divides what is "excess damage" and what is not.
I'm testing this right now, I'll keep you up to date.
I also have to note that I love the concept of excess damage and I hope to see more of these in different classes in the future (especially in Hunter).
I had the same experience with Lone Champion - He lost his divine shield and I got 2 damage to face.
Seems like that it's exactly the case. I'll still test when I can and report here.
Edit 2:
I've tested it just now with exactly the same results. My friend plays C'thuns Chosen into Explosive Runes. C'Thuns Chosen has 2 damage. Excess (4) is dealt to the face. Divine Shield saves the minion from death and the Divine Shield is cleared.
My thanks to you and oll the others for your answers
A somewhat related interaction to add: During an arena run, I had the 1/5 weapon that buffs minions that you play, and I played a 2/2 Hydrologist. My opponent's Explosive Rune triggered, dealing 2 damage to the Hydrologist and 4 damage to my face, and then the weapon buffed the Hydrologist to a 3/1, which survived.
Today in my free brawl pack I got Barongeddon, then I had a cup of fresh green tea. As a result of that, I think Priest is OP because my keyboard is not a mechanical one. I hope Blizzard will address this issue.

This right here is correct.

It feels a bit too strong that way.
No. The card knows the health of a minion as it does with divine shield. So 1 damage to divine shield then rest to face is correct.
ah ok so its not 1 dmg for divine shield 5 dmg face. it depends on the minion hp just as it had no divine shield?
Whoa, that kind of behavior is not ok, i hope it is a bug.

I love tempo/secret mage, so get rekt OP! ;)

By the way the note on gamepedia :-D
"If this Secret triggers on a Divine Shield minion, it will pop the Divine Shield but deal 6 damage to the enemy hero."
At least this card have card text, and not something like "put *some name that doesn't tell anything* to your hand".
Card would stink if it got fully countered by Divine shield so I'm glad it doesn't work that way.
