I'd actually just gather data on card usage every standard, and bring those cards that was barely never used in separate set, that would be allowed to be used in standard (like Recycle).
Why standard exist in a first place? Right, because there OP cards every set, and bringing them together means powercreep. I'd not bring any of OP cards back.
I mean, it's tough to decide between Ice Lance and Emperor Thaurissan because they both really increase Freeze Mage's power but I think I would go with Emperor Thaurissan, it would allow me to use many of the Wild Combo decks I play in Standard aswell.
Lets say both went to standard, we are still missing forgotten torch and roaring torch which comes off forgotten torch
Reno was a terribly designed card, draw it on 6 and boom you win against aggro yaaay
Isn't this good? a start on removing aggro from the game
its of course terrible designed card for people enjoying playing brainless decks.
Reno didn’t remove aggro from the game it just turned aggro matchups into a coin flip where basically zero skill was required and it was determined almost entirely on draw luck. Control decks are supposed to counter aggro decks and they do... when built and played properly. Reno was a terrible decision because it meant playing a non optimal deck and winning against aggro anyway because sometimes you get lucky and draw this card that automatically wins the game, you don’t even have to play well or make smart deck building choices anymore.
Honestly my top two picks would be Reno and Justicar. Followed up by Lotheb and Emperor. I think Reno and Justicar revives more of the control meta, which 80% of the time I think is pretty weak in Standard. I know a lot people think Reno decks can be very brain dead but it was definitely the defining feature of new deck archetypes in many ways. When it comes to Lotheb it’s personally not my favorite because I remember seeing a lot more Aggro decks run it than contro, but I do think it’s a great staller that needs to be seen to break slow down decks like Mage and Priest. Emperor can be another very powerful card but it really does push OTK decks which can be painful to play against but fun to see when people pull it of.
I'll just make one point, playing Reno Jackson on turn 6 only won you the game against aggro about 60% of time. It wasn't an autowin especially if your opponent had a board and just knocked you back down to 15 health again. Other then that agreed that aggro is healthy for the meta.

It is terrible. Primarily because it eats the entire healing design space, meaning that no other heals can realistically be printed, forcing all control to be singletons, leading to lovely swings due to draw variance. Secondly, aggro is healthy for the game, else you end up with nothing but OTKs and the greediest of greedy control decks, then they warp to beat the mirror and you have one of the worst metagames ever.
But remember that this is my opinion. I cannot play aggro at all, it just makes hearthstone worse and breaks the game. I know that most aggro is just cheaper and more f2p friendly. But as a new player to the game, you want to understand the spectrum of the game, use your brain. As patches and all the broken ass aggro cards rotate out next year, blizzard should focus on printing more Common and Rare control cards. Frozen Throne brought Death Knights, most of them focused control decks. But these are legendaries, f2p players doesn't have all these. Remember when Disguised Toast got to legend on his f2p account, he got to legend with Midrange Hunter (a.k.a Face Hunter). Aggro just ruin the experience for good hearthstone players.

Without Aggro, even ignoring cost issues, the game would be dead. WIthout aggro, control would get greedier, and then would devolve into nothing but OTKs, because there's no aggro to keep it in check. Exactly the same as a metagame with zero control devolves into a race to see who can be fastest. There's got to be a balance between aggro, midrange, and control.
I wouldn't say that there is balance between aggro and midrange, when this is basically almost the same thing. Give me a list of good frequently played OTK's. I can start adding Reno Priest as in Wild and Highlander Priest in Standard, other than these two there aren't frequently played OTK decks

Freezemage, control priest, questmage, all OTKs. Other OTKs, such as aviana/kun related ones, or things like malydruid, malyhunt etc are kept down in large part by aggro. you remove aggro, you stop punishing players for focussing too much on their own strategy.
What about my suggestion on common and rare control oriented cards? Should we just let new players crush us more skilled players? I don't think so. imo we should punish new players for just going face and never being able to understand the big perspective of Hearthstone. Aggro will always be a thing in Wild, but what about standard? Blizzard does begin to print more control oriented cards, which is good.
I'd say have 2 dedicated slots in deck building which can be filled by any wild card, or by a single wild legendary. Still maintaining the 30 card size.

I was wondering, if we were allowed to pick only one card (or 2 same if not legendary) from the Wild format in to Standard, which would you choose?
Is it Reno, Justicar, Sylvanas, Ragnaros Thaurissan, Brann, or is it Ice Lances, Azure Drake's?
Ps. I predict Reno
I would pick reno, yes.
Azure drake, to make dragon mage a thing

Yaayyy...
There's all my notable achievements.
Tinker's Sharpsword Oil, Darkbomb, Living Roots, Bash. Cool and simple cards. I miss you, Oil Rogue...
And you might call me crazy, but i really miss Flamewaker too
Loatheb. Period

Actually i would like to have Death's Bite back. Mainly because warrior needs help.

so basically as a control player, i should lose all aggro matchups ?
Definitely Thaurissan, I love combos
