It works sometimes in a slow control deck... but you have to draw it early and you have to draw lots of removal as well to keep the board clear. But it's sometimes an effective counter and definitely worth it in a slow grindy deck if you're playing against a lot of jade druids.
I include SG in all my decks so far, its been useful for far more than just Jade Druid. It's been great for me against the control warrior (goodbye shield slam, whirlwinds), Exodia Mage (usually hits a few of the RNG spells), Priest (potion of madness, power word shield), and of course Shaman (evolve). No, it isn't an auto win over Jade Druid, but if draw on time it can be helpful.
I really like Geist. I think its downright hilarious when you geist, and then hover to see 8+ Jade Idols removed, and no cards in the opponents deck anymore. Does it instantly win you a game? No, does it help you? Hell yah. It improves your percentages, if your getting rocked by a specific deck, tweak in a few tech cards to help. If you find they aren't needed, tweak in something else.
Anyone that shuffled 8 idols in the first place is a terrible player with an outdated list. I was spectating a rank 10 friend yesterday and the amount of people shuffling ten million idols into their deck early in the game were just triggering me :/
It's never correct to keep more than 3 idols in your deck at a time in your deck unless you're in fatigue. In KotFT, it might not be correct to shuffle at all. IMO it's just bad players like these that makes geist actually useful against jade druid
Here I am. I was wrong. BUT, my new Warlock deck has destroyed all but one Druid I've gone up against since the expansion launched, so I don't feel bad.
This is like saying that crabs/bgh/eater of secrets single highhandedly win match-ups after you play them. Of course they don't. They just tilt the match in your favor.
It's not like you force the Druid to auto-concede after you play geist.
People weren't criticizing Jade Idol because it enabled Jade druid, they were complaining because it killed almost all other decks in the control archetype.
Also, guest should be a 2-3 mana drops on a smaller body 2/2 or 3/3. Part of the reason it's not effective is even when you have it it's too late to be effective.
A jade druid will dump their Idols to ramps jade's before t6 and likewise an evolve shaman can play their evolve combos prior to turn 6. Both having site consequences on the match.
I think blizz was honestly afraid to make it lower cost and placed it at 6mana for that exact reason. But then it's just more RNG, do you have it or not?
Skulking Geist is a good tech for sure. The stats are not as bad as it seems, but the problem is that when it gets into play it can be already too late... So it is not the jade solver everybody hoped for.
Who said it would kill Jade Druid? That deck has MANY cards that cost more then 1 mana to produce bigger and bigger Jades. It only destroys ONE card they use.

Actually it is the most important card of the deck. Without it for example Ultimate Infestation can easily lead to an eraly fatigue.

I play Highlander Priest which includes Geist and won 3 consecutive games against Jade thanks to the card. Your point is invalid.

When played, Geist increases your win-rate against Druid by 10%.
So yeah, I'd say it's pretty good against Jade.
Well I'm currently 6-0 vs jade druids using my kazakus priest teched with Skulking Geist. After i play it it's an autowin vs that BS. Love it.
Legend with : S65 Freeze Mage, S57 Maly Gonk Druid, S57 "Okay" Shaman, S53 Boom-zooka Hunter, S53 Maly Tog Druid, S52 Wild Tog Druid ft.Blingtron, S50 Quest Rogue, S49 Dead Man's Warrior, S41 Wild Clown Fiesta Druid, S41 Hadronox Jade Druid, S40 Wild OTK Dragon Druid, S35 SMOrc Shaman, S33 Jade Druid, S22 Control Priest, S19 Control Priest
I just desperately hoped it would, I wanted an answer to the worst card printed in hearthstone history. I was blinded by desire...
Now I don't want a nerf for jade idol, or rotation, its gone too far for that, the only option left is to nuke from orbit (total deletion).
As an aside, Jade isn't even the best/most popular variant at the moment.
I run two skulking geist in all my decks. Does fuck all.
Idol should be nerfed or Hall of Famed early. Jade is a broken mechanic in a class that ramps.

I want a new title, but Flux won't let me have one,

Where shall I start...
I play it in the control paladin and lost 5 times. and my point was why jade druid is the best deck now . so your are stupid.

i am at rank 7 right now on jade druid.
played 20 games -- 6 wins only.
may be its because i dont have fandral and primordial drakes..
as for me evolve shaman much more rated - i have 60-70 % winrate
I appreciate the effort in making a tech card. I just wish it costed less and with lower stats to account for that.
Not reduced enough where Druid can't get a few Jades out, but enough where they aren't huge by the time you can use it.
Still a decent card though. And I will continue to run it.
