I've been playing for over a year now, and there are still a few common and rare cards that elude me in the classic set. Like, I've opened a number of legendaries (including duplicates of Gruul and Cenarius) before I opened my first Noble Sacrifice (and I still don't have a second one).
So waiting for a specific common or rare can take a while. And, in the off chance that you craft a common/rare, and then open it in your very next pack, you are only out 35/80 dust (as opposed to 300/1200 for epics/legendaries). That's not a prohibitive amount of dust, and can be recouped relatively quickly.
If you are missing a key common or rare, I say go ahead and craft it.
If you need rares craft them, i started after BRM went live and up to this day i never opened a Knife Juggler or a Secretkeeper. But only craft the most OP ones :)
"Eventually" can be a long wait if RNG doesn't smile upon you. In general, you shouldn't craft those rarities. But if you need 1 card for a deck you're using constantly then it's fine to "waste" the dust to improve the performance of a deck. Long term a card or two won't kill you, but it's not something you should get in the habit of doing.
If you are missing a key common or rare, I say go ahead and craft it.
Thanks guys,
Except that I don't miss just one card, I miss like a bunch of them. For example, I kinda want to craft Midrange Hunter decks and I miss:
2xJewelled Macaw
1xCrackling Razormaw
1xScavenging Hyena
1xKnife Juggler
2xSavanagh Highmane
Those are like 4 commons and 3 rares for a deck, not including epic: Rat Packs that I don't have. I heard this is only tier 2 or 3 now in the ladder too, so should I commit dust to craft all those to play this deck? Or wait from open packs?

It depends a lot on how much you play and what set you want cards from. I would not recommend crafting Classic cards since you will definitely draw those given enough time, but if they're core to a deck you really want to play, go for it. I've opened hundreds of Classic packs, but until last week I didn't have a second Frothing Berserker ^^
For other sets it's a bit more tricky. Crafting these cards is worse because they will eventually rotate, and chances are that those cards aren't as good in Wild. On the other hand crafting may be your only chance to get the cards, especially if you are F2P and don't play a ton of Arena (or do well there). If your goal is to get a big collection I would avoid crafting since it's really inefficient, but if you don't think you'll want to play more than a few decks at a time, do the craft.

Assuming you're fairly new to the game, I think I've been where you are now. And, while all the advice given here is sound, it might be worth considering another factor. That is: do you already have some competitive deck, or this would be your first?
If you already have some other good deck, I'd say exercise patience, and be conservative with your dust.
But if this MR hunter is going to be your first serious deck, it might be worth to invest in the cards (just this once). Even if it's not tier 1, it can bring you to some decent-ish rank, say 10-5, or maybe even further (if you can pilot it well). And with the rewards you'll get season after season you'll have more cards / dust to manage as you please.
That's exactly what I did, BTW with hunter, too, and must say I have no regrets.
One last bit of advice: since there are many lists out there, if you do commit try to find a list that, while strong, minimizes the cards you have to craft right away. Some others you could wait to craft say next month, after
1) you have more experience with the deck, have decided whether you like it or not, and have a better understanding of those extra cards' importance
2) you'll have cashed in an (hopefully) nice reward, and you'll have opened some more packs ;)
As for cards to craft right now, and those which can wait a bit, IMHO Savannah Highmane, Scavenging Hyena and Crackling Razormaw are fundamental. Jeweled Macaw is nice to have for sure, and most lists run 2, but some only run 1, so you could try the same, specially if you already have other good 1-drops like Alleycat & Fiery Bat. Maybe try 1x Timber Wolf instead of the 2nd Macaw? EDIT: or Fire Fly.
Rat Pack is powerful indeed but you could consider temporarily replacing it with other cards you already have, perhaps Infested Wolf or Vicious Fledgling?
Lastly, Knife Juggler is OK but you can definitely do without him. Not only now, but in the future as well. Maybe a Dire Wolf Alpha in his stead, if you don't run it already?

This guy has a valid point here.
When I first started, right after GVG, I did my research and saw that MechMage was and OK deck which was not very expansive: even if some lists ran double Piloted SkyGolen (Epic), it could do allright w/ cheaper mechs and mage cards. I think MidHunter is kind of the same here.
I creafted some of the common mechs that were really core (I think 1 mechwarper and 1 snowchugger) after a number of packs, and also crafted double Azure Drakes a little latter. Of course I eventually got drakes from packs, but I don´t regreat the dust, because those months I played with the deck got me more rewards and more enjoyment from the wins.
For your hunter, I think the Highmanes might be your version of the Azure Drakes: a VERY solid card, which will boost your deck by a lot. I´d also stick to the UnGoro packs right now, since its the set you have more commons which might help you.
If you're looking to improve your rank, I'd say crafting that many cards is a bad idea. This is especially true if you're not doing it for a T1 deck. It's setting yourself up for a big disappointment if you spend that much dust only to find the deck isn't quite strong enough.
I guess since I have limited playing time, your point is true, there is no point spending dust not on a T1 deck.

I'm a F2P and I haven't had a lot of chance to play Arena due to time constraint, just doing daily quest already take up much of my hearthstone time.
My goal in crafting is actually to have a competitive deck to be able to climb to rank 10, and may be with luck and time, get to rank 5 one day too, just to have the most dust reward possible each month.
I do want to have a big collection since I'm a collectionist, I don't even dust the duplicate golden of the normal ones. I realize that with my time I won't be able to complete any expansion cards. The classic cards, probably, as long as I still play for the next few years.

Thanks man, I actually do have another competitive deck: Pirate Warrior. I have it since I happened to open Patches from packs, and then SouthSea Captain from packs too, it is like Hearthstone telling me to play the deck. I want to swtich a bit this season since Pirate Warrior doesn't really utilize the new Ungoro cards, and I like many of the cards from the new expansion. MR Hunter is the next cheapest option that I could find. Unfortunately unlike PW, I didn't even open the rares needed to build the deck.
I think I will take your and many good guys' advices here to not craft the deck for now and be patient using my PW for now to climb the ladder.

I like your thinking here about valuing month of playing worth the amount of dust spending. I think one day when I have more cards and I still missing Highmanes, I will surely craft those.
I do need luck to open the Ungoro packs, haven't got any legendary from opening 25 packs yet.
A point about the number of packs you might have in mind is there is a pitty timeror legendaries (and epics), therefore you should keep buying packs of one kind until you get a legendary, and rethink your pack strategy (keep or change types) after a legendary.
My personal experience is a big lack of cards on the begining of my HS experience: I have no GVG legendary and only 2 from TGT. Besides that, I managed to build a more solid collection on the Classic set. What I would recommend is having a better informed and long-term focused strategy for managing your dust:
In the year of the Mammoth, I´d buy packs from each new expansion until you get one legendary, and use the rest of the gold for classic packs, together with the weekly ones from Braws. You can craft the cards you need from the expansions, depending on how much you get.
From next year on you should be able to save gold in advance for each expansion and buy less classic packs, due to a larger base. You should think on how much gold you get on average per month, and buy closer to 50/60 packs in each new expansion.

Well, not to disagree with my own (and other guys') advice, not to mention the conclusion you've reached but... since you have those cards, there could be a third option worth considering. Even if you have a PW deck already, if for any reason you're unhappy with it, you could craft only the core hunter cards you miss. Like said already, IMHO those would be 2x Savannah Highmane, 1x Scavenging Hyena and 1x Crackling Razormaw.
BTW, since those belong to two different sets, hoping to get them from packs would mean to split your purchases between Classic and Un'Goro, which is not the best plan when it comes to epic / leggies pity timers. EDIT: whoops, noticed now ArturVF89 just made a similar point. Guess he posted while I was still writing this, sorry :P
That's 4 cards, down from the 7 of the first hypothesis, and 2 rares + 2 commons would set you back 280 dust only. Since you have 1300 dust in bank, you would have slightly more than a thousand left, which could be not that bad.
On the other hand, the deck you could build this way might be not 100% optimal. Afraid in the end only you can decide what's best, buddy. Best wishes in any case ;)

What do you think about Ungoro until legendary, craft what he does not happen to get from tat set, and then switch to Classic?

Makes sense. Or, maybe the reverse: Classic until legendary, then switch to Un'goro. A factor to keep in mind while deciding could be that of those 4 cards he misses, 3 are from Classic and only 1 from Un'goro.

So I have heard to not craft "common" and "rare" cards as those I can open packs eventually, only spend dust to craft "epic" and "legendary".
This is the dillema for me since I feel that all the common and rare cards I really want keep eluding me from the packs.
I have only accumulated 1300 dust so far, I'm stuck between to keep saving to get a legendary or to spend now on those common and rare I like?
What are you guys' rules of thumb on how to spend dust, when to craft?

e.g. Savannah Highmane yes, Stampeding Kodo no.
Also i usually find that instead of crafting a cool but niche legendary you are much better with crafting two pairs of really good epics.
The 1st step towards a better game is firing Mike Donais! We had enough of his "skillful" balances!
