Hey guys! I've been experiencing with Dog's quest rogue and after reading a bit in the comments, I noticed many people found Violet Teacher and Edwin too slow for the deck and replaced them with either Bilefin, Fire Fly or Igneous Elemental.
I was wondering which version of the quest rogue you guys had the best results/wr with.
So far I'm at 58% with Dog's original version. I can't say I got big value from Violet but I won a few games because of Edwin.
-Moroes. Most of the time you will get 1-2 spawns with him and either win or lose within 1-2 turns. He provides no bounce value. I find Bilefin Tidehunter better as it provides a 1/1 with Taunt for defense plus you can bounce him back. Also cheaper.
-Fan of Knives - useful against Hunter and Murlocs but that's about it. Too expensive and if you have other defense options consider taking out at least 1.
As someone who has climbed with Dog's Day 1 Quest Rogue, the Fire Fly Quest Rogue, and the latest versions of Quest Rogue (minus Vanish because I think that version is stupid), let me say this: No matter which version you run, the deck is incredibly inconsistent and situational, and requires a lot of adjustment as you climb depending on which decks you face. From Rank 19 to 1, I have played about six different iterations of the deck, one of which even included two Vilespine Slayers to screw over anyone who didn't expect hard removal (I believe that was somewhere between Ranks 10 and 7).
So you should play whatever you feel the most comfortable with, I don't think the winrate will vary much either way because how well you do will often depend on your starting hand and how you decide to use it. That's why there is so many different variants out there right now, because there is no "one right way" to play the deck like with Pirate Warrior.
^ this ... everything said is 100% true.
All versions are viable but once you have the feel of the deck you need to tech to what you're playing against.
I hit a patch of hand locks... throw in cold light oracle and watch them burn!
I'm running the (Wild) version you see in my signature. Bilefin and Moroes over Violet. I think Violet is too slow, and it requires spells like backstab, which i removed from my deck.
i end up adding fireflies and igneous to the deck so i m not just relying on getting that perfect hand as much but i also end up losing all the charge minions as well

I'm talking mainly about these 2 decks.

What do you guys think?
If you removed Violet Teacher, which card did you add to replace it?
Igneous
I never ran Violet Teacher. Still have Edwin VanCleef in my deck but made room for Bilefin Tidehunter. With Glacial Shard, it should provide decent defense. I took out the Eviscerate though that card has won me games. Kept Backstab mainly since I still use Edwin VanCleef
I run Edwin, but not Violet. Instead run Moroes, infinite value.
Moroes is better.
Yes I use Dog's version, already have moroes in it, would def not replace it.
I guess I'll try to trade violet for igneous
I replaced the violet teachers with two Fire Fly, serves the same purpose but much better and consistent.
Hmm Fire Fly or Igneous Elemental...
If you use Fire Fly, you must use Igneous Elemental
I'm really not sure which other 2 cards to remove to make Igneous and Fire Fly to fit :s

Actually, the vanish version is the best one.
Agreed that vanish adds a lot...
I crafted edwin for this deck, then removed him a week later. Too often he's just a dead card. I will find a place for him later.

No. I do run 1 secret eater for those mages who run ice blocks. and 2 shield bearer against aggro
I kept edwin but no teacher
