EDIT: Oh hey, they're moving Conceal to wild saying that dealing with a stealthed Auctioneer was too much of a pain in the ass. Now I'm not gonna' say I told ya' so, but... Best part is the deck still functions and will be only slightly less good. (Honestly, I think the Azure Drake thing is a bigger deal.)
Seriously. If you tech your deck with a few cards that beat Aggro Pirate [Insert Class Here], you'll probably beat them more often than they beat you. I see an aggro deck against me and laugh most of the time. But I am so god damn sick of Gadgetzan Auctioneer basically reading "Do you have an answer RIGHT NOW? No? I win." And if you have an answer, it's "Oh thanks for dropping your answer. I play another one. I win." And it's only Rogue that gets away with it, because they have this little monstrosity:
So now your only option is a board wipe strong enough to kill him. These are:
Flamestrike, Dragonfire Potion, Circle of Healing+Auchenai Soulpriest, Felfire Potion, Consecration/Wild Pyromancer+Equality. maybe Shadowflame. Sure, there's more cards that do the job, but they don't really fit into the meta and you're almost certainly not running them nor running into them. And of those, about half of them are multi-card combos that require you to have not just the primary answer, but the card that pairs with it. (Equality needs Pyro or Consecrate, Shadowflame needs a minion of 4+ attack, Circle needs Auchenai or I guess Embrace.) And that also assumes that it even matters if you kill it, since it probably doesn't since the jerkoff on the other side of the screen probably ALREADY drew two thirds of his remaining deck before you get a chance whatsoever to react. I genuinely think this needs a nerf because unless I get VERY lucky, seeing one of these hit the board literally says the game is over. Maybe change Gadgetzan so that it only draws on the first spell but reduce his mana cost to like 4 instead of 6, or to not punish other classes just make it so you drop stealth if you have a triggered ability go off.
I know everyone that reads this is just going to go "oh he's just salty and control needs help right now let's nerf warrior instead." I don't care. I just needed to get that out there because I'm sick of losing to a zero-interaction game state because I didn't happen to have a Flamestrike or Dragonfire in hand on the exact turn he played F***youiwin Auctioneer.
Just for the record, I do play a lot miracle rogue.
I kind of agree, because miracle rogue has been somewhat viable archetype since the start and through every expansion, and the only viable archetype for the rogue class if you want to be competitive on the ladder. Not even the gadgetzan nerf could stop the miracle rogue.
With that said, I do enjoy playing miracle rogue, and it's not auto-win once you develop the gadgetzan with a conceal. Not at all. Well, for me at least :P
I think the card is fine balance-wise, powerful and influential but definitely not really busted, but they should probably consider rotating it out at some point. If the point of standard is to be a changing gametype, having archetype-defining cards like Gadgetzan Auctioneer forever is counter to the format's purpose
Rotate it, don't nerf it. Even then, the card really rotates in and out of popularity. While Miracle is consistently the only playable Rogue archetype, that's not Auctioneers fault, it's mostly the fault of the cheap Rogue Basic/Classic spells and the fact that Rogue hasn't gotten more than one or two playable cards each expansion.
I'd rather deal with 10x miracle rogues if that meant my games lasting more than 5 turns. You can actually play around that with Sheep or Kazakus polymorph potions, but can't do shit if you happen to draw badly your first 5 turns/No Reno against Pirate.
Stopping Gadgetzans Cycle to 1 in 2 spells would do the trick. Really is a common sense solution and only a genetically deficient person would think otherwise.... Or a salty rogue player
You can mitigate that with proper deckbuilding. Restricting his effect to 50% or once or twice a turn will complicate the game and add another layer of the bad type of RNG that decides games and makes them less based on skill, which is what I thought the community didnt want.
Not drawing your answers is part of what makes a card game different from other games. Taking away the ability to play a deck because one or two thousand players can't (or won't) learn to deal with it is just plain stupid.
Bro if your going to make it a 50% draw a card than at least keep it 6 mana. You're just doing exactly what Blizzard does and nerfs every single card into oblivion.
this will never happen, but i would have liked to see it stay at 5 mana and only draw off spells that cost 1 or more (no more drawing off prep, coin, or backstab)
the answer to cancer or stale old cards isnt to destroy them, its to make a GOOD counter. we dont want to play a game where our minions are worthless and over costed
I have to admit, the OP echos my own sentiment about Gadgetzan Auctioneer. I feel an immense amount of frustration knowing that as soon as I see it played my opponent will most likely draw 4+ cards and there is nothing I can do about it. There is no board state I can set up that makes that play unattractive. It just comes down to whether my opponent has drawn Gadgetzan Auctioneer along with a sufficient number of cheap spells to make it worth their time.
Again, I don't attack the raw power of the deck. It has its strengths and weaknesses. I just feel fundamentally helpless against a play that makes them exponentially more likely to find all the answers they need within 1-2 turns.
The problem is not auctioneer, it's conceal for God sake. 1 mana spell makes your minions almost invincible for 1 turn, if you are gona ask for nerfs, ask for the right cards! Auctioneer on the other hand is a great card, it has already been nerfed, miracle is the only viable deck, it can do without conceal but not a deadbeat nerfed auctioneer. If you want to kill an arctype, then it's another story.
They really needs to set up a whole new sub-forum just for Nerf threads. They can set them up ahead of time, make a thread for every card in the universe, but especially for any card that actually helps you to win a game.
Oh boo hoo, the dude drew a bunch of cards with his auctioneer that I already knew he was gonna play, because that's what rogues do. . . and the he concealed it! WTF?!? It's almost like he's trying to beat me! I bet when he plays warrior he put two of those Fiery War Axes in, that cheating bastard,
The salt is sad - almost every strategy will destroy if you don't have the answers - so by this rationale, everything should be nerfed, because dammit, not having immediate answers to everything is unfair!

I've teched a Streetwise Investigator into my most commonly played Standard deck to deal with Miracle Rogue.
Forgive me, friend. I have failed.

My Suggestion
How about no. We don't need more uncontrollable RNG to decide games.
Keep the same card but put it in Wild so it doesn't stale Standard anymore, if you even have to do that.
Stopping Gadgetzans Cycle to 1 in 2 spells would do the trick. Really is a common sense solution and only a genetically deficient person would think otherwise.... Or a salty rogue player
I just started playing miracle first time with patches.
13-1
deck is busted

Just rotate it. It's an exceedingly uninteractive card that undermines the "cost" of mana cheating and cheap spells (tempo for card disadvantage).
