OK, so I've been getting destroyed by pirates this whole time because of MSG. My question is, can you run pirates without Patches? The only legendary I pulled was the warlock legendary and I don't have Reno so I can't really run him. Any pirate decks without Patches?
Patches gives you free tempo and thins your deck for free, which are both very much appreciated in both aggro and non-greedy combo decks. He's not essential, but he's very good.
So another one to their cancerous army? Why won't you rather build anti aggro deck like reno priest or something... Just wanna say pirate warrior is gonna die soon... Otherway you can't really replace Patches, he is core card. Rather replace Hogward or whatever the fuck it's called
I would, but like I said, I don't have Reno. Or any decent priest cards, for that matter.
Pirate Warrior was viable pre MSG, look for older lists if you don't want to craft Patches. I still recommend you do though, because it fits in non pirate focused decks as well.

Wait... How does he fit in non pirate decks? wouldn't he just be a stonetusk boar?

Lifecoach ran it Renolock with Bloodsail Corsair. It works in Rogue decks that run Swashburglar and it's recently been included in Aggro Shaman together with Small-Time Buccaneer and Southsea Deckhand. Now some of them you could call pirate decks but I personally wouldn't.
Thinning a deck increases the odds of getting the other cards in your deck. It is minor but, say you have 14 cards left in a deck with 3 cards will help you then you have a 3/14 chance of finding success. If, due to patches, you have 13 cards left you have a 3/13 chance. These small advantages really do make a difference in a game like hearthstone. This reason alone makes bloodmage thalnos one of the best legendary sin the game in every meta. Patches follows the same path.
Can you explain me the deck thining part, which i think has absolutly no effect on any aggro deck whatsoever, since every card as as good as the other. I understand deck thining in combo decks that look for specific cards, but not in this type of deck. 29 or 30 cards is meaningless in a deck that never will see half of its cards anyway.I simply dont see the logic how patches helps you on that point.
A 4% smaller deck means you'll be drawing 3 direct damage instead of 1 direct damage 4% more often. (The actual effect becomes more dramatic as you draw more and more of your deck). That matters when you play lots of games and you need to do as much damage as efficiently as possible.
Thanks guys. I tried pirate warrior. It was pretty good, but I think I'll stick with zoolock and murladin, at least for ladder currently. Might have to switch once I'm higher up the ladder, but I don't know if pirates would work higher up on the laddder. How high up do pirates work right now?

Yeah, sure.. he is good but not essencial, and he is not even the best pirate out there.. make your deck and have fun! SmOrc!
Yeah, a toast!
It will just be less effective, but you can run pretty good Aggro Pirate decks even without him.
For instance, Pirate Warrior was a thing already before MSG.
You definitely need Small-Time Buccaneer tho.
Patches is far from essential, but he definitely ups your win percentage.

OK thanks. Just wondering. I might not even make a pirate deck. Just wondering.

Ah OK I see. Thanks.
The deck thinning is insignificant. It's early game tempo that patches provide which makes it worth its slot in the deck.
