Patches, weirdly, seems to be the new OP put this is in every deck legendary.
I am watching SupeJJ play against Ostkaka. One is Aggro Shaman, the other Reno Warlock. Both are running Patches. Warlock with weapon removal pirate. Shaman with that new cancer one-drop pirate.
Lol patches in warlock. It's good in classes that play weapons but that's just silly. He's not like doctor boom so I think it's a bad comparison. He is really good at helping you win the early game though, any 1 drop pirate is now at least a better living roots, and living roots is a great early game card. He doesn't win you the game automatically but he basically makes the first pirate you play a great card.
Patches is so far from the newest dr boom. I think currently nothing has reached the prevalence of dr boom. Just because you saw two decks with it doesn't mean jack sh*t. Stop trying to make a fuss about the "new dr boom"
Why are people so overreacting about extra Stonetusk Boar? Since when 1/1 charge is a problem? Bigger problem are Jade Golems..
You clearly don't understand the game very well. Patches thins your deck, gives you a completely free 1/1 charge, that can easily do 3-4 damage, again for free.
But patches isn't the most broken thing about pirates, it's the 1 mana 3/2.
Patches the Pirate will NEVER be the same as Dr. Boom for the simple reason that he is not and cannot be run in every deck. The good doctor was seen in almost every deck in every meta since his release, with only the most hyper aggressive decks and sassy Druids not opting to use him (to have no targets for Big Game Hunter).
As for what Patches the Pirate can accomplish, the deck he is played in is quite bad against taunts and weapon removal, so tech in an Acidic Swamp Ooze, throw in some early game taunts, and smack that annoying Warrior across the face with the hard counter. Watch out for Mortal Strike.
In order to be slightly similar to Dr.7, it should be almost auto-include in any deck. Right now it doesn't seem the case to me. Could EVERY deck run enough pirate cards to have good odds of summoning him and obtain the useful deck-thinning effect? I don't think so.

Patches Cost: No Mana
Stonetusk Boar Cost: 1 Mana
Patches Cost: No Card
Stonetusk Boar Cost: 1 Card
Patches: Comes out earlie in the game
Stonetusk Boar: You can draw that card late in the game
Patches: Is a pirate
Stonetusk Boar: Is a beast
If you compare this, then there are already 4 big differences, which leads us to the conclusion:
Patches has nothing to do with Stonetusk Boar.
same stats...same charge ability...same mana cost* (if he is in your hand) and also takes 1 deck slot..."nothing to do with" is simply not well said...just point out the difference. Don't make yourself look silly by saying they are nothing alike.

Still not sure if I hate Hearthstone...or love it.
Thinning your deck has nothing to do with why Patches is good. It's 100% about the tempo generated...No one would play it in Reno if it wasn't such a strong answer to an Aggro Pirate open. And honestly, I don't think Reno even needs it.
Dr. Boom was insane because he was great for every type of deck: from face to control. [card]Patches the Pirate[/card] is good only in aggro and to be precise Pirate aggro. In every other deck he's Stonetusk Boar and Stonetusk Boar is crap.
No, Dr. Boom was not played in face decks. The zoo, hunter and mage decks with him can not be compared to the current face warrior and old huntertaker, uth/buzzard hunter or rush-rogue or aggro freeze. There were true face-lists in the Dr. Boom period, but those did not run him.
He was so strong, however, that he was equally good as the top of the curve, close to top the curve or even transistion into the lategame for greedy decks, clearing up the board on the way.
well you might discuss if its OP or not but that it is just throwing opinions on each other
the fact just is it Patches has enough influence on the game and makes control warrior work very good
the second fact Patches doesnt have to be nerfed, something else can and and that should affect archetype (if they dont really want to nerf patches and lets be honest there is no room for nerf - btw thats opinion part)
FWIW - both Hearthstats and VS are tracking Pirate Warrior with a win-rate of about 52%. Midrange Shaman, Renolock and Dragon Priest all have comparable numbers.
Well you have to design a deck around patches. Boom is a different story. True that patches is OP right now. But Boom would stay OP no matter the meta. Patches shifts with the meta. I don't think patches is boom level but it is still really good.

Weapon removal pirate seems like a brilliant idea. I think it is worth testing.

There isn't a 1 mana 3/2 but there is a 1 mana 1/2 that becomes a 3/2 (if) you have a weapon
This is blaspheme.
Dr. Boom and Patches the Pirate???
Yeah...they're almost identical...I could not disagree with this post more.
Still not sure if I hate Hearthstone...or love it.
shaman, warrior, rogue all play this card.
SMORC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
some control deck also play to counter patch. they mulligan hard for only 1-2 pirates in deck to hope increase win rate again aggro.
