Hi, I'm mtgcraze and I've been playing on the NA server since August 2015 and just recently decided to start taking the ranking system a little more seriously. But, unfortunately I have been stuck at Rank 10-8 for a while now. I believe I do have a nice skill-set, but I win games only a little more often than I lose. I use Midrange Shaman, Tempo Mage, Discard Zoolock and Secret Hunter to rank up. Any tips? I would appreciate it greatly.
basically i tend to rank up on big win streaks, and then kind of tread water for a while. just went from 9->6 on a winning streak 2 nights ago and then have been sorta stuck at 6. rank 5+ is kind of a brick wall even if you are pretty good. If you hit R5, be happy with yourself, very few people hit legend.
You're not getting lucky enough with draws and matchups. Make sure you are playing a cancer deck like Shaman, Huntard, or Warrior. Then, revisit getting good draws and hoping your opponent doesnt. Thats really what it boils down too. Its a casino..... sometimes you roll double 7's and sometimes you dont. Those are the facts. Fucking game is a joke in Standard mode. Wild is better but its really just a diceroll. You either get what you need or you dont.
Cant play around shit if you dont get the fucking cards you need when you need them.

I climbed the ladder this month with my C'thun Reno Zoolock deck (lol) playing normally (so not many games, since I mostly play arena) until rank 5 just to obtain the golden epic at the end of the season. So, did you say something? What about trying to improve at the game instead of being complaining always? Like seriously dude, you are always f....king complaining, it's the only thing you do in this forum, aren't you tired of it? I'm pretty sure you must totally suck at this game. And believe me or not, but I even started to hate Agent Smith just because you are using him as your avatar, lol.
If you aren't playing meta decks to the exact card you will lose 100% of your games
Really? And how did I climb the ladder until rank 5 with my C'thun Reno Zoolock deck (a deck I made mostly for fun) playing normally (so not many games as I already said in my previous post, since I'm mostly an arena player, and I'm almost a f...king GOD in that mode)?
Really guys? Someone asking for honest help and this is how you act?
To the OP, stick with it and results will start to come.
One thing that can really help is taking a season or two to play the popular but not meta-defining decks. You can only truly understand how to counter some decks by playing some games with them. You start to realize what is really annoying to certain decks that isn't terribly intuitive.
For example, at the higher ranks I still have people double trade into my Tomb Pillager all the time when playing rogue. When you play a bunch of games with rogue, you realize that a) you often want the pillager to die and b) 4+ damage going to anything but your face is great. There are dozens of interactions that are the exception to the "rule", and to get above rank 3 or so you have to take advantage of them to win.
Hope that helps, and that these losers take their pissing match somewhere else.
Regardless of the bad topic replies, I enjoyed the feedback. I like the idea of switching decks when I lose with one twice in a row. I appreciate the positivity and the fact that sometimes it's hard to rank up. The counterplay idea is a pretty good one, I like that. I'll just keep with it and try to put up some results.
Rank 10-8 is really good dude and you're playing the right decks so it just boils down to match-up or it could be that there are counter decks you're facing designed to beat the tier 1 decks so take note of what you're facing and if you see a pattern maybe add a tech card or 2 to you weakest deck and see if it makes a difference.
But remember, December is gonna be a fun month with everyone experimenting :) then a new meta will be defined
To the OP, stick with one deck which you really enjoy to play and discover its ins and outs. In general, you should try to become expert of this deck and learn how to play most common matchups (for now, shamans, tempo mages, druids and hunters I believe).
This season I hit Legend for first time with Discard Zoolock. It took me only 122 games from rank 17 (winrate 69%) and believe me or not I started to play Zoolock last week of October. Skill and experience really matters, but you should remember also to play with good attitude, rested and not to be hungry.
Try also any type of deck tracker (HDT or Track-O-Bot) and review your lost games with it to find out WHY you have lost and if you could win this game by better play. This little improvements consecutively will build you better plays and higher winrate.
In general, climbing is long way when you should try any ways to improve yourself as a player. Don't listen noobs that you are losing due to RNG. Of course, many matches you will lose due to RNG, but it is normal. Hitting high ranks needs only hard work and time.
Knowing your opponents' decks is equally important as knowing your own. If you don't have time do play them, just watch some streams showcasing them. There's always room for improving your plays.
I don't believe watching tournaments would help with laddering in any way. You can't follow the player's thought process and tournament meta is different than ladder.

Improving at the game means getting the cards you need when you need them or playing a dooshbag deck. Those are the facts, son. But yeah - you got mad skills. Im sure it wil help you land that big job, score a hot chick, and live a long/healthy life. Fucking weirdo.
The game has a very low skill ceiling and thats by design. Its quite random and all over the place. Thats the way they made the game. Sorry to burt your "Im good" bubble. You even know who Agent Smith is? Impressive, I assumed you were someteenager like most players of this game. Good job, Big Champ. If there was more skill required then it wouldnt be dominated by pre-pubescent teens.

really RNG feast in high rank. If 2 player equal skill, RNG play the important role. Stick to 1 dexk
Try OTK Mage or Malygos druid/rogue for really overpowered bursts.
HOW TO GET HIGH RANK :
Step 1: Watch popular streamers and tournaments (this is VERY IMPORTANT)
Step 2: play a lot of games with the one of the best decks out there.
For example I was stuck at rank 6 this season until I watched RDU playing dragon priest and than I played it myself to get rank 5.

because current ladder meta is just rng fest, barnes rng,rag rng, early draw rng,bad match up rng... everything is rng.
I win due to skill and lose due to bad RNG. :D
