Can someone who is not as lazy as I am find the literally same statement about the Naxxramas? "With the Deathlord and Sludge Belcher FaceHunter and Zoolock will stand no chance and we'll have a control meta." And then people figured out that Undertaker was a really good card...
Nope, because it never was said. No one bu trump thought sludge was a good card, and death lord wasn't looked well upon. Zombie chow was also pretty underrated. Most people were talking about what would be played in the game, not the speed of it.
Also, the game was pretty slow before Naxx, so no reason to say that.
I'd like to point out that before Naxx (and after the UTH nerf) Miracle Rogue was the best deck and people tried really hard to counter it... with extremely aggressive decks (FaceHunter, Backspace Rogue, Shockadin). More adequate people used to counter Miracle Rogue with Handlock but it was a bad metacall in such fast environment.
It was the best, but it isn't the most played due to it's high skill. Control Warrior and Paladin were everywhere.

I returned to this game much like how a recovering alcoholic can relapse.
The problem is not the control or aggro meta itself, is the unbalanced efficiency that aggro decks have rather than control ones. I wouldn't mind playing vs aggro 70% of the time, but only if my control deck has got 50% chance to win, increased just by my skill or decreased just by opponent's skill.
Blizz doesn't want a control meta. Control is high-skill and very frustrating to play against if you're of a lesser skill level, and drives away new players. The ideal balance is every archetype having a chance, and no midrange shamans running around shitting on everyone not running flamestrike.
Thank you so much for this thread. I was having a long day and the title alone was a great laugh. I'll be sure to bookmark this one for when the cards come out. These threads have been made for every expansion, only to be replaced by people demanding that aggro be curtailed with nerfs. There will never be a control meta as long as card draw is random and you don't start with full mana.

People said the same pre standard abd wotog what we got is 8 viable warrior decks and shamanstone.
Pff Control Meta he said.
My magic will tear you apart!
The meta will be control for a week then we'll go back to the usual aggro/midrange meta like what happened with every other expansion.
Custom cards :
CLASSES : Alchemist (CCC#5 | Phase V) | Chef (CCC#4)
EXPANSIONS : Year of the Scorpion (Year Comp)
What I really wish for is for a balanced meta where every strong deck has a strong counter but maybe that's asking too much.
Mike Donais doesn't know what the fuck balancing is, so I wouldn't get my hopes up there.
On the path to victory, one must be prepared to get a little bit of wiener in their mouth.
