Depends on many factors really. Most of the population will NEVER reach legend. It actually only takes up about .05% of the HS population. THough most of those people aren't actually TRYING for it.
Overall, you should have a 50% or better win rate against the meta, the random selection of opponents you are fighting. If you don't, then first are you actually running a deck that CAN have a good matchup against your opponents? If so, then it's mostly a matter of practice from there.
Once you can keep a 50% win rate, then it's just a matter of time, though DO check your rate again after rank 5.
sidenote: when people (like myself) talk about 'it's not hard to get to legend' we're mostly talking about folks who already have it down. They have the deck in hand that can get there and they know enough to use it at a 50% win rate or better. Once you know enough to do it, it's mostly about..well, putting the games in to do it.
Like riding a bike. It's hard until you've done it, then it's not hard at al (grind excluded)l.
Welll, 19-7 is a good run. So long as losing 4 to zoolock doesn't turn into 'lost 10 out of 15 matches with everyone playing zoo' then it's fine to let that pass.
So lnog as you keep those numbers, it's really just a matter of sticking to it.
And aggro paladin is probably fine for running. Aggro works well for grinding ranks. Not sure how well aggro paladin works in the meta but again, it's workign for you and that's what matters. Just don't let the loss streaks mess with your head (a good many would just see the 4 losses to zoo and give up rather than noting they have a 73% win rate over nearly 30 games). Focus on keeping up with the data.
edit: double phrasing the 'don't let loss streaks mess with you'. You WILL have days when you go on a big pack of losses. It happens. If you need to step away that's fine but after you are calm get back in there. Only consider changing when you get a bad win rate over a large number of games (30+ minimum). Tilt is probably one of the biggest factors that keep a player from getting to legend.
u need play meta deck and grinding to legend. if u play 5 month without investing money. i think u can go zoo or shaman, mid range hunter. but will take a lot of time grinding. 1 days 4-5 hours grinding.
if u plan to play 1-2 hours per day, its will be very hard. unless u got the lucky streaks.

Zoo, Shaman and hunter ARE meta decks though with shaman as a top tier deck. AND they are fast to boot. So 5 months is MORE than enough time to get a legend-capable deck if you didn't, say, focus everything on lower quality decks (like I did :P). Aggro paladin, though not top tier, IS legend capable (ANything Tier 3-1 is legend capable as are a number of decks that aren't in any tier) and fast enough. Just a matter of being capable of it both in playskill and in the emotional ability to handle the push.
Personally, I'd put 3 hours a day if you are playing seriously, assuming we aren't talking pro level.
Thanks guys! I really enjoy Paladin although you says it's not top Tier. I made a basic zoolock deck about a week ago. I put in an hour of playtime and I hate the playstyle. I made aggro and midrange shaman and it was too boring. So I guess my next build will be a midrange Hunter. But the thing is I can beat hunter np, Ive had consistency with keeping them pressured most the game same with Shammy.

Out of curiosity, what was it about Zoolock that you disliked? It's not a deck that I play, as I prefer to play non-tierlist decks, but it is one of the most interactive and high skill cap decks out there. It can be frustrating to play AGAINST, but I've rarely heard anyone complain about playing WITH it. It's possible that as a newer player, you were adopting the wrong playstyle for Zoo and that's why you were disliking it.

I'm not 100% sure about midrange hunter. Midrange is good against tempo decks like tempo warrior but weak to aggro decks like shaman, so it really depends on what you are facing.
The 'boring' and 'hated playstyle' is going to be your big fork when it comes to whether you should go to legend or not. The legend grind requires being willing to play with decks you may not see as the most fun for long periods. That's why a lot of people never bother with legend, because there's no point if you hate the process. Going for legend doesn't mean yo uHAVE to play that one deck you just HATE, but it WILL probably mean the deck you most want to play will NOT be the deck you play either.
So really you have to ask, do you prefer playing decks as you see fit or do you prefer the pursuit of an ultimate goal. Do you play to win or play for interesting experiences. If the latter, find the deck that works and stick with it... even if it IS a deck you don't like at the moment. If you play for interesting experiences, the push for legend will be disappointing so you should really consider if you really want to do so. Rank 5 is more of enough of a push without so much raw grind and has a reward attached to it.
He's a pro MTG player, started from scratch, invested some money (adventures and packs) and has a team who teached him the core foundations of HS. The rest (mentality, time, attitude, prowess) he already had it, so it was easy for him.
Shoot for rank 5 first and see how long it took you to achieve that rank. You may be able to make it with your Aggro Paladin deck, but you will probably struggle past Rank 5 with the heavy control meta.
Rank 5 is challenging to achieve, but much easier than legend because you get a bonus star for each win after your third in a row. You can have a solid win streak that can take you to Rank 5 quickly. Once you're 5, things slow down a lot.
I started playing in the open beta. But only started playing fully ladder-viable decks during the BRM era (up to that point I only played control or midrange paladin no matter what, without fully understanding any other deck).
I started pushing for high ladder in September 2015 and reached legend in December. For me the grind was real and I can partially relate to what some people are saying that it's the grind and time investment that stops them. It was a good full 4 days (12 hours each) spent on pushing r. 5 to legend. Admitedly, I wasn't any good back then. But the second time I decided to reach legend i reached it with a decent 61% winrate (1 and a half day of intense grinding) and immediately managed to leave the dumpster. After that I am led to believe that the key to my success was: - being able to pilot multiple decks, - being able to adapt to sudden meta shifts and pick meta counters - remembering the basic builds and possible techs for tier 1 and 2 decks (when playing against them), - tracking my deck (no, seriously - smart use of a decktracker warrants an immediate +5% to your winrate).
Hit legend second month of the game being out of open beta. if your only goal is to get legend then just focus on playing one single deck well. Watch videos, read guides, find a standard list of the deck for the season you are playing. the last 5 days or so of each month are far easier to push for legend because there are more people in legend and many of them begin playing troll decks once they are secure in legend rank. When I say push for legend i mean getting from rank 5 to legend rank. If you're unable to maintain rank 5 before them it might not be feasible for you as a player with your current skill to grind out ranks 5 legend since ranks prior are super easy due to win streaks. Shameless plug as well i'm icer#1447 in game and coach for gamer sensei so contact if you want to try taking coaching. It by no means is a free ride into legend, but it can help supplement the video watching, guide reading, standard list finding portion of your journey.
It takes time, a lot of time. Currently I really don't have this time to invest to get to legend, so I'm going for the casual rank 15. Takes me about 2-3 hours of game play.

Ive been playing 5 months. Im rank 13. I achieved rank 13 with a Paladin. Only had 25 ranked wins. How much longer to hit Legend?

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
Thanks for the advice! This is the deck Im currently using:

Went 19-7 two night ago. losing 4 to zoolock.

A friend of mine got to legend in 2 weeks.

Your question is like asking 'how long is a piece of string?'
It depends entirely on how much time you put into the game and how well you play.
Missing lethal since June 2015.
it doesn't take months.
the amount of time it takes fluctuates depending on your skill level and deck choice/tuning for the current meta.

i started playing around December of 2014 and i finally hit legend at like February 2016
I've been playing for 3 months and I got stuck at rank 1 last season. I don't know if I'll have time to push for it this month.

*The tier guide will return*
I started playing in February 2015, but didn't take it "seriously" until November 2015. Reached Legend the month after.
