The real value of mercenaries yes is probably around 20 bucks. It is the price of a new game like this. Considering instead how costly is and was (because they sold 130€ pre-order) and they did not even test a mercenary before releasing him (after the buff) and they leave this mode for so many months (without an update for the excess of coins) makes me very infuriating. I am mad with this company that it is only thinking about money and they are releasing things with such poor quality.
Anyway, it is clear where this behaviour is going. This is a simple search in Google trends for HS. The chart speaks for itself.
What is the combo with Diablo+Kazakus? Whey people take it in starting trio?
Before I was quite a fan of mercs PvP, was getting 8-10k rates in first seasons, but now I haven't played mercs for a month or two. Now tried it recently and triggore is everywhere. But whats the problem with it? I just took triple blue shadow starter and Trriggor dies first turn each time without making single damage. I have a feeling that Garrosh+Valeera+Natalie should also easy kill it (if no Mukla on enemy side).
But yea, anyway meta is absolutely not healthy. I was thinking to level up new mercs wirth this new changes to try different interesting comps on pvp, but looks like there is no sense to do that until future patches.
Kazakus + Trigore + Diablo. (Trigore always in the middle).
With Kazalus you spam the 3 tokens with rush when you can. The first token activates Trigore, every token will buff Diablo with 10 health when he dies (for Diablo's equipment).
Kazakus's Battlecry equipment also buffs Trigore and increases his damages for the 1 speed spell and Diablo for his attack.
Diablo is good because it is strong and he gets buffed by Kazakus and it is protected by Trigore. With Diablo when you can you have to attack to attack also with Trigore 1 speed spell (and also because his attack is buffed from Kazakus's equipment).
Trigore protects Kazakus and Diablo because it forces you to attack him first in order to not receive too much damage from his 1-speed spell.
But Kazakus will buff also Sylvanas on the bench. When Sylvanas comes out you have to cast the 10-speed spell in order to receive the buffs for every token dead from Kazakus. Her equipment is obviously the deathrattle one.
Kazakus + Diablo and Sylvanas (in the bench) is an old combo. Trigore is the issue.

I have to say I tried quite a bit of PvP yesterday and I really enjoyed it. Some of the recent buffs did a lot of good work making formerly unplayable mercs relevant.
Yes there is a lot of Trigore but (a) he wasn't everywhere and (b) there are various direct counters to him, mostly specific double blue openers
I saw very little Valeera which was very refreshing as up until last week she was in almost 100% of the comps I faced
The most common merc I faced was Kazakus (also in non-Trigore builds) with Sylvanas on the bench always
Anyway here are some fun comps I tried that performed decently to say the least:
Humans with the recently buffed Varian + Tirion and Cornelius in the opener (not sure about Cornelius) and Leeroy, Rogers + Cookie on the bench. We want to get to use Varian's 2nd ability to speed up all our mercs (except Cookie), but if we somehow get to proc his deathblow that is insane too. Tirion is there to die (or if he lives as he is never targeted to cast Blessing of Kings) to buff Leeroy and Rogers as finishers
Arcane with an opener of Milhouse, Tyrande and Long-jin (yes, a Milhouse+Tyrande opener!), and Yulon, Sinestra, Cookie bench. Tyrande is really solid right now. Using her as an opening merc i go for the 1st equipment. At 7 speed it always procs and deals 58 to a blue. T2 I can get some spell damage from Long'jin and double up on Milhouse's AOE. Actually I went 3-0 with this comp
Beasts+Arcane using Mukla, Rexxar, Trigore in the opener and Long'jin, Tyrande Cookie in the bench. Long-jin here has the 3rd equipment to come in the battle with a ton of arcane spell damage. Tyrande has her 2nd equipment as when she comes off the bench there are usually a lot of low-HP mercs to proc her 2nd ability multiple times. A cookie fish can help there too. I often had it proc 3 times and deal a ton of damage
Nature Heal with Malfurion, Chi-ji and Guff as an opener. Cookie , Thrall, Sinestra bench. The idea is to kill Trigore on t1 while taking very little damage from him. But the comp can outlast and outheal various other comps. I faced a dragon comp with a Sinestra opener. I would let Sinestra do 60 AOE to my blues every couple of turns while I would slowly kill the other dragons around her. Thx to Chi-ji's ramping heal I would heal for 16+ for each nature ability cast, that's 64 every 2 rounds and with dragons being slow I could just outheal Sinestra forever. However this comp is weak to enemies who are faster or can slow you down (with Varden, Diablo, etc...)
Remember GVT? Well I tried GVT 2.0 where G stands for Galvangar, and T for Trigore. Valeera speeds up Galvangar on t1 so that he can attack and get the bleed on an enemy merc, while Galvangar gives +5 attack to Trigore (who is also triggered by Valeera attacking). The only problem is that without Gromm I don't get to choose who Valeera attacks on t1. Also, Galvangar's 3rd ability is often potentially insane as it can completely shut down 1-trick ponies (like an enemy Trigore on the 2nd turn, a Cookie that has a 2nd target for its 1st ability, etc...) While the 2nd ability is also a nice tech vs Sinestra, Nature or other heal stuff
