..across 18 maxed mercs, 14 packs I have no reason to open (and no, I didn't buy any of the pre-sale bundles) and still no official word from Blizz about how they plan to address it.
hope they'd add some kind of a DE mechanic for coins. I'm even ok with 1/10 th ratio, just let us use the excess coins, it is so useless. I hate opening my bounty rewards, 5 boxes each accompanied by WOOHOOO sounds which contain another 20 coins for my already maxed merc with 5k useless coins.
Umhhh just my Bru'kan sitting on 8k extra coins with totally about 50k.
Bru'Kan 8K... You killed a lot of demons, right?
Eh, IRN-Bru'Kan is one of the core single player mercs. I'd expect to be heavy on those coins, particularly as nature comps flatten the relatively easy last set of bounties added.
Yeah, I know some would have a lot more, but I consider myself semi-casual, which is kinda my point
I log in, clear my task board and get 1 (sometimes 3 or 6 depending on my mood) pvp win, and log out. Nothing more.
I do however, do this everyday, make sure I completely clear the board (no matter how onerous some of the tasks are) and I do -try- to find strangers along the way. I also avoid using -any- maxed mercs in my pve parties unless they're specifically needed for a task (I will cry the day I max Cookie).
So my point being that someone who probably plays Mercenaries more than the average HS player, but maybe not as hard as others, that I'm already 16k deep speaks to an issue they should probably address sooner rather than later. Like I said, I have 14 unopened packs from from tasks/pvp and zero reason to open the ones I have, much less buy more. You'd think Blizz would want to fix an issue dissuading players from buying things.
Update:
Just because I feel like venting and there's STILL no word from Blizzard here are my current stats:
..so one month later I'm at 32k coins over 23 maxed mercs and now 31 packs I have no reason to open. I'm pretty sure those who are also actually still sticking with this mode can boast even more garish numbers.
..and we get a new patch that of all things introduces Training Grounds, a feature that likely has zero use to those that play Mercs every day but instead seems tailored to attract more people to the mode that otherwise may have been put off by levelling (which honestly is already the easiest, most passive aspect of the mode), while failing to address the core issues that need to be addressed in order to -keep- any potential new players.
+30k excess coins here and stil rising... Wish we could trade them for coins. Either coins for a rarity or neutral coins which can be used on any merc.
- Legendary coins: 60-1; Epic coins: 45-1; rare coins: 30-1 excess coin conversion rate. OR - Neutral coins. Every coin will cost 50 excess coins to generate 1 coin which can be used for any mercenary regardless of rarity.
I think one of those two conversions would be reasonable.

damn i only have extra 1k and already feels really bad
Man U farm way to much to have that many extra coins
what do you expect from dead mode
It isn't dead but it feels like an alpha.
Solving maxed coins issue and adding an actual random PvE mode (or anything more varied than bounties) will revive it for me.
And no, adding a new zone with a dozen of new bounties won't help.

they will address it after xmas when ppl have alrdy spent their money on gifts and micro transactions.
Only? Just my 14 "wealthiest" merc would give me 18k excess coins.
You got scammed xD

So why do all play this mode to collect more and more of excess coins, if you don't like to have excess coins?

Exactly, i farmed quests on 29lvl HC Felwood runs. Its highest lvl runs where i can kill creeps in one turn with fire combo.

Just give William H. Gates a few weeks to take over this amazing game mode and let you disenchant excess coins.
