You know how it the game tells you that when two minions have the same speed it is a coin flip which goes first? Took me a few days to realize that only applies to enemy minions. For your minions of the same speed the order in which you give them commands will always be the order in which they act. So for example you can 100% of the time activate Samuro with a speed 4 ability if your Xyrella bites it for example. This works in both PvE and PvP. It also helps with choosing which deathblow you want to proc. and so on.
Hope this helps someone be less of a clueless noob than I was ;)
That's actually one of the random load screen tips.
another potentially helpful tip though, that I didn't realize until a couple of days ago. Did you know that minions don't -have- to take turns? You are able to simply hit the "ready" button without choosing an action for any minions you don't want acting (like in situations where their only ability is a physical attack, and you'd really rather they not do that).
My discovery of this was prompted by an elite encounter where I must have lagged as I clicked ready or something. it's the only time I've had the AI start by attacking without me getting a chance that round!
OP, here is a follow up question, if you (or anyone) knows:
If you and your Opponent have multiple mercs, all with the exact same speed, does the initial coinflip between you and your opponent apply to your whole squad (of same speed mercs) or is each minion rolled seperatly?
For example, you have minion A and B, opponent has C and D. Both of you choose your personal order of attacks ("A first, B second"; and respectively "C first, D second"). Now, if you win the coinflip, is it ALWAYS "A first, B second, C third, D fourth"? And if he wins it would be "C first, D second, A third, B fourth"? Or is it possible for example that it goes "A first, C second, B third, D fourth"?
That's actually one of the random load screen tips.
That's how I figured it out, too. (Did not know about taking no action, though)
Sometimes loading screen tips can be like, "People die when they are killed" and sometimes loading screen tips are like, "For access to the secret base, make sure to bring your fine quality balloon animals and play the song of the winter people while you prance in circles on one foot."
Was I supposed to figure that out in game? Gee, thanks.

I know for a fact that A, C, B, D is possible (I've seen it), but what's harder to discern is if B is flipping against only C, or if it has to flip against both C AND D.
Well, that's pretty useful, now I know I don't have to combine Samuro with Xyrella to activate Samuro's ability consistently
Works best with Xyrella, tbh, due to the atack debuff. Grom and bru'kan also work well, though - Bru'kan's muddy will also proc Guff's doubling spell for maximum power, minimum defence.

Pretty sure it's possible for things to be mixed up between you and your opponent. But not 100%, I will keep an eye out. Also it is easy to test if you get a speed 7 merc and see when they go compared to the masses of mobs that just Attack 7, IIRC the trees in Felwood autoattack first round and come in threes (heh) so good odds of figuring it out then and there.
And I found out the rule in the OP the hard way. My Samuro went first 3-4 times in a row in one bounty or maybe just fight, and I was like FFS this can't be a coincidence. And it wasn't. Then I thought it was PvE only but works on PvP too. THEN I thought it was a bug but still decided to share with you guys so you can enjoy it before a potential fix ;)

This was actually a top PvP build for a while until people started to figure out how to deal with Samuro. It will always be a valid strategy, but not as oppressive as some were predicting.

Yes you can hit the ready button and do nothing.

Wow! I had totally missed the load screen tip, so this is 100000% VITAL. Thank you!
