You're incentivized to keep doing it over and over again, though, either to level up your newer mercenaries so that they're able to tackle the content, or to get coins, or to complete quests (and unlock coins). For any of these purposes the most efficient way to get that result is to run an overpowered team maybe with a bunch of weaker mercs on your bench.
There's that word again. I can't for the life of me imagine why it keeps coming up when people are talking about how to enjoy a casual pastime. If you approach it like work, it's going to feel like work.
Anyway, I get the impression you haven't tackled Heroic content yet. I'm impressed if you've done all that with no worse than a few close calls. A (near?) future update is supposed to include Legendary bounties -- and presumably some new ways to improve your Mercs, as it's hard to imagine tougher bosses being beatable otherwise.
But yes, if you've done absolutely everything the game has to offer and have no interest in repeating content as you try different builds, then it may be time to set the game aside until there's an update -- just as you would with any other single-player video game. No one said it was supposed to entertain you forever.
PvP is always an option, but leveling up different teams is supposed to be the main attraction. That's why it's actually OK that it takes a while, and people complaining about "grind" are kind of missing the whole point. It would actually be best if obtaining and upgrading all the Mercs took many weeks, so that the end of that process roughly coincides with the first content update.

So yesterday I did some Malf runs and wrote down the results. I am at 7 runs now and got 4x0, 1x15 and 2x20. That makes 7,85 coins per run. Given that I need ~250 I need 32 runs (rounded up) to complete him. I have to check you long one run took, but I assume it was around 10 minutes. Therefore I need "just" 320 minutes (over 5 hours)...
You were unlucky, I did some runs too and got way more coins...
I did 11 HC Malf runs today and have gotten 1x15 and 1x20. Tamsin and Voone out the wahoo, though.
..and now I'm bored. I have all but 10 mercs (all legendary, and I still don't have Malf) and all the ones I DO have are all 30 now, but I only have at minimum Task 7 complete for 14 of them. It feels like I've hit an absolute brick wall when it comes to encountering Mysterious Strangers.
I guess until some (positive) changes are made, I'll just be doing the dailies and done.
I've been looking at Heroic Blackrock and noticing that Guldan, Alexstrassa and Sylvannas are all on the Coins list for those activity completions.
This suggests that these are Top-tier/sought after legendries to have.
I got quite lucky in the packs I got: Lich King, Diablo, Jaina and Arthas.
I just wondered if many people got Alexstrassa, Guldan, Sylvannas in their packs; or if there is a scarcity in who has them?
I'm imagining a sour taste if no-one has those three and everyone has Illadin say; not that I'm saying Illidan is particularly bad.
Let me know x
You got lucky m8! Lich King, Diablo and Jaina (Arthas kinda double there?xD) are all top tier legendaries. Some of the best comps use those at the moment for PvP.
Interesting counterpoint - it's looking like diablo coins come significantly more frequently than Uther coins, on normal, from their respective bounties. I still need to gather a load of data on Emperor N and HC, though. I'm pretty happy asserting that Uther cions are a 13.5ish% chance from each of the three bundles on normal, and 27%ish chance on HC, which fits with other HCs from Felwood.
The fact that they're not even across bounties, even in the same location, is interesting - it might be a bug, it might be just a big middle finger to data gathering, it might be an attempt at gatekeeping some mercs (though, in that case, blizz failed - it was obvious that Diablo would be a popular grind target, for example). I'm leaning towards bug, but don't know which is buggy, and needs a lot of data across a range of bounties to determine.
