So, for the 72ish (yeah, rough maths with assumptions, but we have no clue how things work and the info stated in-game is clearly incorrect/blatantly wrong) runs of Emperor that you need to do for crafting Diablo, what comps have you people had reliable success with? Xyr/Samuro/Cornelius/Rokara/Grom/Cariel feels like it's really dependant on getting specific treasures (windfury, +attack, or bomb) on Samuro, or a good fighter boon (and fighter boons have a nontrivial chance to just wipe the run immediately by speeding Samuro up, if they even spawn). Also sometmies loses to trash going 'everything nuke Xyrella for two turns' (fire sworn and two casters can be hairy depending on RNG). Not hitting Moira at all, usually heal after the taunt dies due to trap, then a few turns later the barrels blow and I'll scrape through at the end most of the time.
Got a roughly 50% success rate, between stupid not paying attention wipes, RNG shaftage, and just not seeing the powerups. Could always farm other heroes first if they'd have a big impact on efficiency. Samuro/Xyrelia/Cariel is my luneup for almost all, with the back three generally just scraping the last damage from Emp, or swapping in as I win.
I've yet to even -beat- this stage, and only even gotten to Emperor twice, and never with a full team intact. I almost think the trash in this stage, particularly the firesworn, are a bit overtuned.

What are you running? Firesworn are a pain if they're paired with casters like trident throwers. Usually manage to Xyrelia/Samuro/cariel all take down the fire sworn in one turn, with one DOT on Xyrella. If she gets hit by repeated tridents or other spells (or there's a random taunt gain), she can easy go down and then it's game unless the spirit healer's near. You do need T3 abilities, I find, though not the upgraded weapons. Some really nasty trash in this one!
Also, I wish you could turn down the boons. That chance of being wrecked is nasty - really throws a spanner in the works. Maybe I should try and get a backup fast green, but that's a fair bit of grinding, plus Emp is rough with greens post-explosions.
Start with 3 casters with single target removal, and focus on the boss. At level 30 you might be able to kill him directly, or weaken him enough so that when the bombs go off he dies. Your 3 non-casters are the back rank and all come in after the bombs go off to clean up any stragglers.
I used Bru-kan, Malfurion and Guff as casters but I suspect there are lots of choices that work equally well.

I've been running Xyrella/Cariel/X, with X been trying different things.. but it seems no matter what, either Xyrella or Cariel ends up dying before its all over, usually from the 2nd overlapping dot tick.
..and for a few runs, I just sucked it up and hoped for a Spirit Healer later, or good enough treasures to surive them later, but SO often a Firesworn group is the very first one.. or there's 3.. sometimes even 4 groups of them on the map, and its just an utter meat grinder before reaching Emperor.
..it's extra frustrating because I'm pretty sure I one-shot the prior stage

Just got to try and avoid them whilst they wreck you. You got Samuro levelled? Natural pair with Xyrella, and will wreck boards. With a buff they can generally handle a fire sworn on their own, but early on you need to hit with cariel too, which leaves you a bit open, unfortunately. Improved a lot when I upgraded the heals - on both Cariel and Xyrella. I'll end up lobbing a seal on Xyr T2 and then usually killing them turn three.

Okay, so just Beat away with casters, ignore the board, and try to finish up after the explosions? Bru/Guff/Xyrella, probably, with Cariel/Grom/Samuro in the back. Feel like I need Xyr/Samuro to handle the beastly trash! I'll have to try this when I've actually levelled some casters that aren't 100% useless in this one, thanks :)

ETA: Casters works like a charm! Thanks :)
Glad to hear!
