I love how Mercenaries feels. I love having the ability to outthink or outwit my opponent. I really love not losing to random out of nowhere scenarios, like we have in Standard mode. And the RNG is now in our hands!!
Decision making in Mercenaries puts the outcome in our hands because we decide what attacks what etc....however, there is still a random element, because we dont know exactly what out opponent will decide, and or what minion they will pick to replace any that just died.
Thank you for giving us more control over the outcome of games. Now can you make sure the meta doesnt get stale so fast and keep making new cards and evolving the game.
You win... when you have the better upgrades. Consistently. Nothing to do with outwit.
HS vs Mercs would be like RNG vs Robot grind
Not sure, pick your poison, I'd probably actually take RNG since I'am still done way faster with the app, and I can endure some losses due to bad luck...but I know many cry babies here can't. So for those cry babies frequently flooding the Salt thread, Mercs at first glance appears like a heavenly option since you are guaranteed to win if you put 10 hours every day into the mode. (and sacrifice your precious life at the process)

But I'll gladly pick RNG.
Same here. I’d rather deal with quick RNG, than grind you dead tediousness.
If they put nearly as much effort into actual Hearthstone as they did trying to pump out new modes to mimic other games, we’d be better off.

Grammar is the difference between knowing your crap, and knowing you’re crap.

And there are abilities with random outcomes (like attacking a random enemy) and when your merc has the same speed as your opponents it is a coinflip. It isn't chess.
I think the problem here is that some people look at this from a PvE viewpoint and some are viewing it from a PvP viewpoint.
With Mercs you should make clear which is part of your viewpoint when you make a thread or post, because the difference between them is night and day.
In PvP you will be beholden to opponents that might have an edge on your in levels or ability or equipment. No such thing in PvE, where it;s all fixed levels and if you fail something now you can come back later and do the exact same thing with better set up and beat it.
In PvP you have no influence on what Mercs your opponent brings, what actions they take. In PvE you can literally see your opponent's actions when you set up yout turn and nothing comes as a surprise. With Bounty Boss fights you even know exactly before you even start the Bounty what they will do and what they will have access to.
In PvP you can "outwit" your opponent by forecasting what they will do and making a counterplay, to devastating effect, winning or losing games. That whole concept is out in PvE, since there's no real opponent to outwit in the first place, but also because you can literally see what they plan to do, just maybe not the target (and even the target is usually fairly obvious if you have played the PvE parts of the game a bit).
In short the 2 modes should not be compared in discussions and you should not have blanket statement "In Mercs this or that" without adding PvE or PvP to your statement.

Serious question: Can you describe a scenario where you outwit your opponent?
